This is a great hotel for the price. It's 2 blocks from the metro, within walking distance of the Louvre and Notre Dame, and surrounded by shopping and dining locations. Our bed was actually comfortable and the room very clean. The best part of the hotel is the staff. I heard a least 4 different languages spoken. Everyone was very...

This is a charming hotel in a great location with superb staff. Of course the rooms are small, but no one who travels regularly should be surprised, given the central location and great price, and the size of the rooms was more than adequate for sleeping, lovemaking, and checking email! The very special aspect of this hotel is the wonderful...

This is a lovely hotel in a fanastic location in Paris close to the Metro and many of Paris' fabulous attractions. Although this hotel must have one the smallest elevators in Europe it is more than made up for by the fantastic staff who couldn't have done more for us. Rooms were always clean and very comfortable but unfortunately, like...

We booked a triple room for a weekend away in January and found this place to be perfect for what we were looking for. A good basic hotel that was in a good location and not too expensive. Given that we did not spend large amounts of time in our room and were prepared for paris-sized rooms, we found our...

I studied in Paris in the 70s, and, though in love with the city and its riches, had grown "accustomed" in the 80s and 90s to service levels below par and Parisian "arrogance". In the last ten years all that changed, it seems. Paris has become open, friendly, multilingual. The staff of this hotel proved that right. In the booking...

In a nutshell, here are the positives: 1) excellent location; very near Notre Dame and the Louvre, on an extremely quiet street (practically an alley; no noise) 2) room rates were very good by Paris standards 3) nice front desk staff Negatives: 1) I have a bad back, and the mattress was not firm enough. It didn't seem like a...

As noted in several previous reports the hotel features: small rooms, tiny showers, and an adjacent noisy alley populated with alcoholics and smelling like urine. Now I frequently stay in New Orleans, so drunks, alleys, the scent of urine and small rooms don't typically bother me. What DOES bother me is nasty staff. Oh yeah, and the garbage truck that came...

Great Hotel in a Great Area. I stayed for two nights and would go back to the Grand Hotel de Champaigne. I walked to all the major sites, although the hotel is very close to the Chatelet and Les Halles stations. Staff was very polite and helpful.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
