The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from the metro, shops on Rue Rivoli, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Les Halles. There is a restaurant next door (didn't try as hubby is a fussy eater but it looked lovely!). We asked if there was a kettle in the room (I can't start the day without my cup of tea!) and one was happily provided, though they are normally in the expensive rooms only, not the standard. I did bring my own teabags though. Comfortable bed as far as I was concerned though hubby felt his was a bit hard. Set in a quiet side street, though our room at the front was a bit noisy at 7am when the deliveries door of the supermarket on the other side of the road opened for deliveries. Extremely helpful staff. We were disappointed we had to leave a day early because of the virus situation.
We didn't have breakfast as we never eat much first thing, so 15€ each would have been too expensive for just a coffee and a croissant.

Room was very small, but it's Paris. Staff was very helpful. Good location on the Right Bank, near Rue de Rivoli, Sainte Chappelle, Louvre, the Metro. Very good Art Deco cafe down the block: the Cafe Benjamin, open all day. Good Art Nouveau restaurant, Le Zimmer, a couple of blocks away. Room was clean but could use some touch-up on the paint on the little balcony and in the bathroom, considering the cost of the room

We stayed at this hotel for a few days last week, although we had to unexpectedly check out early as a result of travel restrictions due to the coronavirus which made us return home earlier than planned. We absolutely loved the hotel. The location was perfect - not only is it within easy walking distance of several attractions such as the Louvre, Notre Dame and Saint Chapelle, it is only a block or so away from a subway stop that serves multiple lines. We had no problems getting anywhere in the city we wanted. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room while small (as is typical of European hotels) was clean and comfortable. We loved the period decorations which took advantage of the unique architecture of the older building. The bathroom, while also small was clean and the hot water pressure was amazing. The only caution I would give is that the shower required one to step up and into, and might be hard for elderly guests to manage. As I said, we had to check out earlier than planned, but the next time we travel to Paris I hope to be able to stay here again.

This hotel has a great location in a quiet street within a very central part of Paris - making it easy to visit great treasures such as the Louvre (walking distance). The staff are charming and helpful. But the rooms need serious updating. They are tiny (which is just about acceptable) and have certainly seen better days. There is no armchair in the room, only a stool; there is hardly a cupboard, only a place where you can hang your clothes. The view from my room overlooked the well and was therefore dark but the lighting in the room was also poor. It consisted of neon lights, except for the bed-lamps that were placed so far above the bed that they were hardly sufficient for reading. Add to this a miniscule shower room and you've got the picture - far too expensive for over 150 Euros per night. Althouggh the staff were so friendly and helpful and the location so good, I am very unlikely to stay there again or to recommend it to anyone

Located close to ile de citie, 15 min walk to the Louvre also 2min walk to chatelet metro, so great for getting around. Staff were friendly, especially the breakfast staff and helpful with the gluten-free. Rooms were ok although I expect there are better rooms than the one we had. Water was hot and good pressure for a shower but also filled the bath quickly!

We came on a business trip for a week, excited to stay in a quaint and conveniently located hotel, based on photos and reviews, and had a terrible experience. Steam from one of our rooms, from the shower, apparently triggered a fire alarm in the hall while my colleague was bathing. Only to have a front desk man come into her room and accuse her of smoking while she was just stepping out of the shower and unaware of the situation. He left as abruptly as he came in with no apology. Management was contacted and defended the action, citing it as “protocol”, then offered a dismissive apology and a room upgrade. We didn’t accept, since we weren't looking for any freebies. In addition, the rooms were very run down, we had pigeons with piles of dung running down the walls within the courtyard. You will also get charged for any bottles of water you need and breakfast is not included but rather 21€ for a croissant and coffee. This has been a terrible experience with an unprofessional and poor reaction from Management. I came last year and had the complete opposite experience at Hotel Mercure, a bit further away- they were kind, friendly, anticipatory of needs, and generous with their advice. We will be absolutely staying in a different hotel next year, and recommend that women take care when showering.

We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We offered our apologies, explained our safety procedures, and proposed an upgrade to a superior room, which you refused. Who is showing disdain? It is important to clarify certain points. The fire alarm was triggered by steam from your colleague's shower, an unfortunate incident. However, our staff followed the necessary protocols to ensure the safety of all occupants, in accordance with the requirements of French safety authorities. These procedures are reiterated to us annually during our mandatory training. We understand that the intervention might have seemed intrusive, but our receptionist acted in accordance with the procedures in place, with no personal or accusatory intent towards your colleague. We apologize for any misinterpretation and for any discomfort this may have caused. Safety is our top priority, and we never compromise on it to protect our guests and employees. However, your comments towards the end of your feedback border on defamation against our colleague, who was simply following procedures professionally. It is shocking to read such unfounded accusations. Please respect everyone's efforts and understand the importance of our commitment to safety. Regarding the condition of the rooms and the issues you described, we take your comments seriously and are committed to improving these aspects. Measures are being taken to address the aging issues mentioned, and the hotel will undergo a complete renovation in November. As for the additional charges, our hotel's pricing policies are clearly indicated during the reservation process and displayed on several platforms. We regret that this contributed to your disappointment. Our full buffet breakfast, not just a coffee and croissant as you claimed, is priced at 15 euros per day per person. I invite you to check your bill, as we had offered consumed breakfasts to you as a goodwill gesture. Finally, I remain at your disposal, as I was during your stay. Best regards.

Front desk staff could not be nicer. This is not a big American hotel, but why would you want that if you are in Paris? Rooms are funky sizes, decor is wacky, but towels are luxurious, water is hot and plentiful and location (while down an alley) is in central Paris five minute walk to Louvre with 100s of restaurants and shops nearby is literally perfect. If you are ok with clean, quirky and central location with great staff- highly recommend. If you want the Ritz (or even Hampton Inn) stay elsewhere and save the front desk from American expectations. We had an absolutely great six night stay.

Hotel is definitely lovely, charming and especially for visits to the louvre extremely accessible. Small bummer - either the walls are a bit thin or neighboring guests lack manners. Recommendation to the hotel administration: The bathrooms could use an additional handle on the wall for hanging wet towels!!!

We were here 2 people for 2 nights in a twin room, second floor (which is really the 3rd floor). There is a small elevator that tightly fits 2 people & their carry on bags. The elevator is not big enough for a wheelchair. We did not eat breakfast there which I believe is 15 euros per person as there are bakeries in any direction within 2-3 blocks. Very central for walking and lots of metro & RER lines nearby (see the website for list).

Our room did have air conditioning, was clean (but yes old as expected). Beds were pushed together but separately made (the way to go). They were comfortable. Small shower stall (like a cruise ship). Room was made up daily and fresh towels if requested (by leaving your used ones on the floor). Shampoo, shower gel, soap, lotion, blow dryer, teapot provided in room.

This is in the heart of an active neighborhood. You'll hear people on the street at night and trucks in the morning. If that isn't what you're looking for, don't stay here. But regardless, don't blame it on the hotel when there are environmental circumstances completely out of their control.

Room prices in absolutely no relation with hotel quality.
Reception did its best despite problems with the reservation (hotels.com), but in particular rooms and bathrooms are urgently needing to be refreshed and brought into the 20th, better 21st century !

We had a shuttle booked with Paris Shuttle from CDG to the hotel during our December visit, but because of the transport strike in Paris the shuttle cancelled the pick up the day before our arrival - we just took a taxi from outside the airport, which was very easy and convenient. The RER is cheaper than the taxi of course. You can book the shuttle service online if it's still your first choice. Enjoy your trip.

Dear guest, You will come with the RER A you must get off in Chatelet Les Halles Station, and look for the exit No 1 or 11, a taxi is not needed, from those exits walking distance is less than one minute. Be aware that from July 29 to August 28th 2017 included the RER A will stop at Nation comming from Disney to Paris. There you must take the Metro Line No 1 and use the same exists mentioned before, 1 or 11. Apologizes for late answering ! Thanks ! Grand Hotel Dechampaigne Team
