We arrived in Paris Gare du Nord around 10.30pm on the Eurostar, and as instructed by my guide book we headed to the right and found the taxi rank outside with barely any queue. Within minutes we were whisked away in a taxi driven by the most delightful Parisian lady to the Novotel Les Halles, - cost around 10 euros....

This is a modern, clean and brilliantly located hotel especially for short visits to Paris. All major sight seeing locations are in close reach, partially due to its location, partially due to two Metro-stations within 100-200m of the hotel. Overall the hotel is excellent. The only points of criticism would be that it is difficult to get an elevator in...

I stayed in this hotel with my family for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is great ! It is within walking distance to Notre Dame, Louvre museum and close to the shopping areas of Galeries La Fayette and the Saint Honore street. The only downside is that in the evenings we heard shouting and loud singing from the...

Our family of 4 stayed here for 4 nights. Most important thing to know when booking is that it is definitely not a star hotel. However, there are reasons I would stay again: Pros: Centrally located, responsive staff, clean beds, price cannot be beat in Paris, free breakfast for kids. Cons: rooms are dingy with dirty carpet (our shower leaked...

We spent two nights in the Novotel Les Halles with our eight year old granddaughter, who really enjoyed it. The property is well located, within walking distance of many sights, including Notre Dame, the Pompidou Centre and the Louvre. There is a metro and RER entrance (Chatelet) outside the front door. The immediate area is somewhat run down and a...

The hotel is superficially very nice looking, with contemporary and smart decor...and prices to match. The maintenance was poor tho. Only one of the 3 small lifts worked, so inevitably there were always queues so we used the stairs all weekend. There was a leak in the lobby so buckets and water were laid in front of the lifts. The...

This was my second stay at this hotel and, considering the good deal I got online for it, I think it was good value. My room was very stuffy and I was told that the system hadn't switched over from heating to air-conditioning yet. The room looked out on the atrium so the window was locked. But I was then...

As another reviewer commented, the hotel is very conveniently located with both RER and the Metro interchange within the Les Halles Forum. Shopping & transport is therefore literally on your doorstep. Bars, brasseries and restaurants are again all within walking distance. Close to Hotel de Ville, Notre Dame and the Louvre. However, that is all on the ‘plus’ side. The...

Hotel is conveniently located in town and by the trains both the metro and RED. Lots of shopping, restaurants, and parks within walking distance. Close to the Lourve. Easily see the twinkling lights of the Eifel tower at nightfall. Short trip to the river. Hotel lobby nice. The staff is slow though so lines can become long. There are two...

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
