This was my 4th visit to this charming hotel over the past 7 years. I felt that nothing had changed. The same friendly Concierge greeted me - he has been at the hotel for over 25 years. The lovely garden was still a treasure to sit and relax in with a glass of wine or to have breakfast in if you wanted to sit outdoors in the morning. The breakfast room and small sitting room was typically French - comfortable and quaint. Very good basic breakfast with croissants, fruit and other typically European food. You could also arrange to have a Continental breakfast brought to your room.
My room was very pleasant, decorated in a very unique French style of Art Deco, decorated as only the French can! Very comfortable bed. I had a lovely sitting room attached to the bedroom, so I had quite a bit of space for a small French hotel. The bathroom was roomy with a bath. The bedroom, sitting room and bathroom were very clean. I thought that the decor was a little dated and could do with a bit of a facelift but overall I would stay here again and thoroughly recommend this lovely small hotel so well located to many attractions. The area is interesting snd very safe.

Room Tip: The hotel has no air con. Open windows are fine but the street can be noisy in the evening.

I booked a long weekend with my daughter on the recommendation of a friend to stay in Saint Germain. The hotel was charming on a lively street and we were greeted with breakfast in they courtyard which was included since we booked online. We had two twin beds in our spacious room that also had a well-appointed sitting area. It’s not “fancy” but is very comfortable. The location was amazing we could walk to all of the museums and walk the Seine in the evenings. The staff was so helpful, we had to get Covid tests to re-enter the US and they helped us. I will definitely return and have recommended to many friends.

This hotel used to be the British Embassy and retains much of the character of the late 18th century with chandeliers and wooden beams. Our room was spacious and the bathroom had both a shower and a bath; the water being instantly hot.
The breakfast room again exuded character; the breakfast itself being laid out on top of a grand piano! There was a good choice with cheese, meats and cereal being available as well as the traditional croissants, baguette and pastries.
The staff were friendly and spoke fluent English.
Overall, a good hotel in a great location. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Paris.

If you were to describe quintessential Paris, this hotel is your go to place. Located in an excellent area close to the Seine with galleries, restaurants, shopping, museums and rental bikes nearby (should you be inclined), this three star hotel we loved. Recommended by a friend after our complaining that previous hotels in Paris have always been tiny, our hotel room at D’Angleterre in St Germain du Pres was roomy and comfortable. There was one issue: Internet is incredibly intermittent, probably due to the thick walls so if you’re doing business, it’s problematic. I also wasn’t thrilled with the fake plants when we first walked in that looked as though they’ve been there for 20 years, however, as soon as we entered our room, we were blown away! We had our own little foyer, living room area and comfortable king size bed. The television didn’t have much in the way of English channels, so what! It’s Paris! Very large bathroom- like including a bathtub and bidet. The housekeeping was excellent, the breakfasts were decent and served till 11:30am in a very comfortable small breakfast room. Service was great. We’ll be back!

Outstanding for location and ambiance, this hotel is well located near museums and attractions. You can reach most central places within a 20 minute walk, and the Metro station is nearby. Our room was spacious and charmingly retro with repro portraits and an exposed stone wall. Comfortable bed and good pillows. Please don't expect tea-making, mini bar Trouser press, bell boy etc this is not a chain business hotel but a solid 3-star offer true to its national and cultural origins. Breakfast, laid out on top of a grand piano, is varied and regularly rest stocked by efficient and pleasant staff.

We absolutely loved staying at this wonderful hotel! It was in an amazing location, beautiful decor and had many little touches. The breakfast was delicious and staff was very helpful.
There’s a beautiful small courtyard that one can eat their breakfast in good weather.
There is no electric kettle in the rooms but the hotel will give you a teapot of hot water with cups when you request it. The hotel was excellent and I highly recommend it!

We loved this hotel and stayed for 4 nights. The room was beautiful and had high ceilings and French doors overlooking the mostly quiet street. Ask for a room overlooking the lovely courtyard if you are sensitive to noise. The staff was welcoming but unobtrusive. The breakfast (included) was excellent with local pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, coffee, tea and more. The little bar is a nice touch, well-stocked and we and our friends sat and had drinks several times in the evening. While there was no air conditioning, we had a fan and the nights were cool, so it was fine. Maybe not so fine in July or August. It has a lift that can accommodate one person and one suitcase. Except for moving in, we used the stairs. It is a great value and a great location. We walked to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Musee D’Orsay, Hotel des Invalides and the Rodin Museum. We would definitely book again.

This hotel was incredible charming. The building is old and if you don't appreciate history and the quirks that come with it then I don't recommend this hotel. It's beautiful and ancient but of course has no elevator, the stairs are old and uneven, the doorways are short in some places and there is wear and tear to be found everywhere. If you can look past the minor inconveniences of an old property, there is so much rich history to be appreciated here. We stayed in their suite #51 which is larger than our apartment in Toronto and boasts two incredible fireplaces. The decor is what I'm dubbing as medieval chich and I loved everything about it. Breakfast was simple and very Parisian but the staff were really exceptional, allowing us to check in as soon as we arrived as the room was available and always ensuring we had everything we needed. The area is perfect if you're looking for late night food options and prefer to walk to the major attractions. Very close to Cafe de Flors and Les Deux Magots which are both amazing and should be visited!

The location cannot be beaten. From Rue Jacob you can walk to many top destinations, there are plenty of restaurants nearby and the area is safe.
The room was vast (especially by Parisian standards) and the (free) breakfast was excellent, overseen by a very particular member of staff who made sure everything was topped up and arranged perfectly.
On the downside, the decor is dated. The carpets were stained and the bathroom ceiling paint was peeling and bubbling (there was no extractor fan). The shower was over the bath. If you turned it up too high the shower holder gave up and it fell off.
It was very cold during our stay but (even with all heating turned off and the window open) we couldn't get the temperature below 24. We had a 2 storey walk up (no lift) and the stairs are very narrow.
The public areas are attractive, but the rooms need a makeover.

The hotel is outstanding. It's in a great location with walking distance to Louvre, Eiffel tower, and many others. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Milan at the front desk was funny, friendly, and kept us supplied with 1664 from the bar. The interior courtyard is a great place for an afternoon cocktail or breakfast. We had room #7, street side on the 3rd floor. It was a large bedroom, sitting room, with a huge bathroom, soaking tub plus shower. The Toto toilet seat was my favorite reason to use the bathroom. I was concerned about street noise, but we were there on a weekend and most everything closes at 2300 hours and little noise after that. Several great dinner places to eat within the block and since it's off the main streets we found them seldom crowded.

How can a hotel with no elevator and no air condition be rated fabulous?
Answer from Rémy S
Paris, France2 contributions2 helpful votes
Dear Madam, Thank you for your email. Regarding your question, it is not quite right, we have a hotel with 26 rooms and we do have an elevator. To be accurate, the elevator serves 18 rooms and 2 rooms are on the ground floor. Only 6 rooms are not served by an elevator knowing that 3 rooms out of 6 are on the 1st floor only. About the air conditioning, our hotel has an internal courtyard that diffuses natural ventilation but we also have fans available. Hoping that this description has been helpful, Regards, M Silva Manager

I did not bring children when I stayed in Hotel d'Angleterre. Your requests are very specific so I suggest that you contact the hotel directly (see Hotel Website for email or phone number). Say something like this: "We have booked via xx site for these dates. We have children and we need.... Is this possible? Please confirm.
