One star because zero stars is not an option. Where do I start? My job involves travel, I stay in hotels globally every month and have never, ever been treated in this way. As part of my job I stay in 4/5* hotels. On our honeymoon, I was looking for something really quirky and different so as not to feel...

My partner and I stayed three nights at this hotel during October 2016. The hotel itself is charming, from the classic furniture/décor, and warmth/friendliness of the front desk staff. The hotel rooms are indeed quite small and there is no elevator, but this should not come as a surprise since this is clearly indicated on the website. I personally didn't...

The hotel borders my favourite church in Paris, St. Merry. So every hour and halfhour you can hear the bells ring. The rooms have this clerical touch and lots of wooden details. My room on the third floor was spacious, bed crisp and fresh, view from the window straight towards the tower of St. Jaques - and of course: St....

We wanted something central and it doesn't get much more central than Hotel St Merry, smack dab in the middle of the bustling Marais area. Yes, it gets a little noisy late at night because of the bars and restaurants but it's the price of being in the centre, I guess. Staff were friendly, our room was clean and quirky....

Hotel St Merry was just like the photos. The room was small and you get your exercise using the stairs to and fro, but that's part of its charm. My boyfriend and I both tried to keep in touch with work while we were traveling and we found that the wifi signal had a tough time making it through the...

We selected the St Merry because it was recommended in two guide books and the location was convenient. Our room on the top floor was quite shabby, the purple velvet wallpaper was stained and peeling and the room had not been dusted in awhile. The room was very hot, and opening the windows let in a lot of street noise...

You are warned when booking that there is no lift so the stairs shouldn't come as a surprise. Comfortable room with furnishings a little out of the ordinary ( it used to be a presbytery) though it might be a bit cramped for two people. If you are looking for a quiet location, this isn't the spot as there are...

My partner and I booked this hotel as it was very central and appeared good value. Initial thoughts very that it was a bit shabby but quirky. After a quick 30 sleep in the afternoon I awoke and was covered in bites. A visit to the pharmacy confirmed they were from bed bugs "probably from the hotel". I explained to...

Hello, The customer who claims to have had bed bugs in his sheets is mistaken. We are 3 people (the maid, the head of reception and housekeeper) to have checked the sheets carefully : There are no bugs in St Merry. If we had any doubt, it is clear that we would have taken all measures to prevent against-advertising. I...

Great hotel and great location in the centre of Paris in a little paved street without cars. I loved the quaint rooms and everybody we met there was nice. Lots of bars and restaurants around. I truly recommend it.

Receptionists were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is historic and charming, but rooms are small, with minimal outlets and not well lit. Also be prepared for many stairs. Good proximity to important points of interest, as well as nice cafes and restaurants.

Staying in Les Halles

Neighbourhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
