Easy to get to and travel into central Paris from, beautifully designed room, amazingly comfortable bed, fantastic shower, delicious breakfast, friendly staff, a buzzing atmosphere around the canal. Just fantastic really!

Le Citizen suited us perfectly - calm, peaceful, comfort, and very pleasant ,helpful staff. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble. Not exactly off the beaten track as the Canal attracts hordes of young people enjoying al fresco night life, where you can have pizza delivered to you as you picnic! (ask about the Pink Flamingo for details). Its not...

Stayed here for my first trip abroad with my girlfriend, an excellent experience. Smart, modern and friendly. I am sincerely glad I chose Le Citizen for my first trip to Paris.

I really didn't want to write a review but I'm sure that the secret will come out eventually. Our fantastic experience started even before our arrival and check-in. Communication with the front desk (Thanks John for letting me know that I hold the most email exchanges from your previous guests) was prompt and informative, emails and queries were quickly answered...

Spent 3 nights in this functionally minimalist boutique hotel. Very well-designed and staffed by fabulous people (Fatou, John, Laure). Canal area very pretty and lively, but there will be some "background music" when it's time for some shut-eye. Plumbing noise may also be an issue. Overall, a very lovely Parisian experience.

Small hotel (12 rooms) located right on the Canal St Martin - a charming and vibrant neighborhood in the 10th. It has the feel of a local neighborhood, but very convenient for exploring the city. It is loaded with great, cool restaurants (I heard from locals that it is poised to become the next "hot" area) The hotel has the...

We are a family of 5 (children ages 10, 8, 5) that take our children all over the world with us. As those of you who travel with more than oneself can attest to, hotels in Europe are not made for 5 (they are barely made for family of 4) so when we found Le Citizen with their joined rooms,...

We just returned from a 4-night stay at Le Citizen, and we could not have been more pleased with all aspects of the hotel. The reception staff was fantastic; special thanks to Laure, John and Fatou. They went out of their way to provide any service we requested while performing many additional duties required of them. We enjoyed the Parisian...

I spent two nights at this hotel last month, and I must say that was an excellent experience in Paris, considering the price-quality relation. The hotel itself is pretty small, and the service is very casual and relaxed. There are only two rooms on per floor (there is no space for more rooms actually), one in the medium size category,...

I'll keep this simple. Free mini bar, free ipad, free calls to anywhere in the world, great breakfast (unusually, for Paris, included in price), perfect location on banks of Canal Saint Martin, informative, (very) friendly, efficient staff - got us a booking for a notoriously difficult to get into Michelin gaff. I can't say enough, well, I suppose I just...

Staying in Canal Saint-Martin

Neighbourhood Profile
Canal Saint-Martin
The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces.
