The citizenM Paris Gare de Lyon Hotel garners appreciation for its friendly service and central location, making it a hit for those looking to explore Paris with ease. While the modern amenities and playful atmosphere are highlights, some guests have called out the compactness of the rooms and occasional service hiccups. Although opinions on value for money vary, the overall experience is often deemed clean and comfortable, with the high-tech touches and proximity to attractions being particularly popular among travelers.

We used this hotel as a base for catching up with family and taking part in the Paris half marathon. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful from the moment we arrived. Checking in here is a self check in/check out system which was very easy to use but help was on hand if needed. The rooms were modern and spotless and the use of a tablet controlled the tv, blinds and many variations of lighting moods. The bar/lounge/breakfast area was well staffed and very comfortable. A tasty self service hot and cold breakfast was served until 11, we had one evening meal during our stay which was delicious and good value for money. In the evening drinks are also served in the comfortable sky bar on the 16th floor where you can take in the views of Paris at night. The location of this hotel was very close to the metro and Gare de Lyon and there are many excellent restaurants around the corner.
I would definitely recommend a stay here.

This hotel is AWESOME. It was my first CitizenM stay and I'm a dedicated fan of the brand now. Check in is very easy, they have multiple computers set up for self service, but there is always a staff member if you have questions. There are maps and guides at the desk you can take that were surprisingly helpful. We chose this hotel for the closeness to the Gare de Lyon station, it was easy to get to any line from there.

The decor is super cool, very modern and artsy. When you get into your room you have a tablet that controls electronics (and cool color changing lights). The tablet lets you set the mood of your room which changes your lights, music, tv screen etc and it is so fun. The bathroom is a larger frosted glass room with the shower, toilet and ink all in the room so the whole room is kind of the shower but the showerhead is in one corner.

There is a bar on the top level with a beautiful view of the river and bridge. The cocktails were very craft style so if youre not an adventurous drinker pick a simple liquor and mix. I do recommend the upstairs bar for a visit, but I wouldn't invest in more than one drink there.

There is also a bar downstairs by the lobby, it is not open as late but has food for sale too. I had the nachos there, they were really good. The seating is really comfy. and there is a patio in the center surrounded by glass that was nice to sit on.

The only things I didn't love:
-the AC didn't work. It was september but we definitely still needed it.
-The breakfast was overpriced and not very good. Like really expensive, super minimal selection and not well executed. We only ate there our last day for convenience but we regretted not getting up and going somewhere else.
-Our last day the elevator broke (ahhhhh) I honestly dont remember what floor we were on but I do remember dragging 3 suitcases down several flights of stairs at 8am. They fixed it as soon as we got to the bottom (of course) so i think it was only down like 4 hours but it was a bad time.

If we find ourselves in Paris again we will still stay here again, it was great, clean, friendly and easy to travel from.

Very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It’s very quirky & might not be everyone’s cup of tea but having researched 100’s of hotels before our stay, this was the only 4* with a reasonable price tag...

Location is great....2 mins to the metro but also walkable to most tourist sites
Check in - impressive, self serve computers but staff on hand to assist
Rooms - really good! Beds are lush, iPads that control the lights, sounds, mood, blinds....very impressive!
Rain shower which was lush but could have done with being slightly more powerful
Fridge stocked with water each day
Staff were FAB!
Very clean

Only negatives

Blocked sink making cleaning your teeth annoying! They did come to unblock but didn’t help much

Rooftop bar is not a rooftop bar. It’s a bar on the 16th floor. Not rooftop, not outdoor. Just a normal bar in the hotel with fairly decent views.

Travelled to Paris with my partner for my 40th birthday celebrations and I have to say I am so happy we picked this hotel; situated right next door to Gar De Lyon & Gare d’Austerlitz meant navigating our way around the city by the metro / RER system was straight forward. Check in was contactless and the hotel was immaculate, all staff were wearing face masks and there was hand sanitizer located thru out the hotel.

The staff were all superb, friendly and helpful including great recommendations for places to eat out / bars to visit, although we preferred to end our nights in the hotel bar. We stayed on the 10th floor and the view from our room was amazing, also as a tech geek I was very impressed with the iPad mini controlling all the settings in the room, and the black out blinds really did help us sleep. Also the ironing room on our floor was a welcome touch and something I think is understated when planning a city break. Overall the citizenM at Paris Gare de Lyon was 10/10 for us and we will definitely be returning, couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Luxury hotel for an affordable price, you won’t regret staying here.

At last, a hotel that has been planned with the guest top of mind. Small but extremely well designed rooms, great functionality with ipad control for everything, a good selection of TV channels and films, with easy streaming from your own device, a high standard of cleanliness and comfort. And the staff are friendly and well-trained.

The room I had on the second floor, I think room 232 or similar, was I was say, akin to a plush prison cell. The view outside the single portrait window looked out upon some metalworks from the building opposite, I just kept the blinds shut throughout to save myself the despair.

This is not a boutique hotel. I've travelled the world, and 7 different countries alone this year, and this is a budget hotel styled to pretend to be something it's not.

I don't understand how these hotels are rated 4 star, but I would rate it a 2.5/3 star. The rooms are small spaces, with a sink in the room, and a shower/toilet plastic cubicle thing fitted into the room. The space is small, almost claustrophobic. The width of the room was the width of the bed longways.

It's the type of hotel to appeal to the Tik Tok/some millenials and gen Z who don't know what boutique is.

Having an ipad in the room and changing the colour of the lights is a gimmick.

The staff are pleasant. The coffee is good. The breakfast is ok - in terms of warm food, they only had bacon, potatoes and scrambled egg. - although the third morning there was no egg as it had run out? :/

Finally I am a member of this mycititzenM+, and that gives you access to live chat support, and although I was always next in the queue, I never got through to anyone.

It serves a purpose as a base to move from, however you would not want to spend any period of extended time here.

The property isn't priced cheaply, and to be honest, the minute I got there, I wanted to get out.

I recently stayed at citizenM during a layover in Paris. The hotel is not too far from Gare du Nord for folks arriving by train.

The only thing that was a little different for me was the unique way that you check into you room. This is an automated system based on your reservation. I had a little trouble with check in, but it was easily solved by their friendly staff. They were able to help me in English.

Other than the issue at check in, the hotel was perfect. The room was normal sized by European standards. This is always smaller than hotels that we're accustomed to in the US, but I rather enjoy the coziness of European rooms. It was clean and the bed was comfortable.

They have a lounge/restaurant on site that is perfect for a drink or a snack.

The hotel was in walking distance to some of Paris' attractions, but a long walk to more popular attractions like the Eiffel Tower. This was easily managed, because the hotel is within walking distance of the hop-on/hop-off bus line. You can access all of Paris from these busses.

The hotel is very close to the RER Blue Line, which takes you to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport. This was very convenient for me for my flight home.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an economical, convenient hotel in Paris.

A clean, modern hotel at a reasonable price. All of our requests were met by the staff - we even got an early check in at 11 a.m. on our arrival date! A small fridge in the room is very helpful. The location next to Gare de Lyon greatly facilitated arrival from the airport and departure to Switzerland, as well as inter-city travel.
Tip: your room settings default to "no maid service", with a donation of 3.5 euros being made to a charity. You are not told this at check-in!!!! We wanted maid service and weren't aware to deselect this option.

I stayed from 29-30 Jul and I loved the hotel. It was modern, the room was clean and lights and blinds and temperature could be controlled from the ipad, there was free filtered bottle water from the bar, staff were friendly, I could print my documents for free at the self service printer, I could store my luggage after I checked out, I could indicate my preferences for my room floor and view. Would definitely recommend to anyone going to Paris. Great location near the Gare de Lyon station too.

So many opportunities to make this something better.
Check-in experience was impersonal and rushed, staff are clearly overworked. No one explained anything about the hotel to me, just a member of staff shouting to me where the lifts are located across a sea of people checking in. The check-in area is messy and doesn't give a good first impression of the hotel.

Rooms are ok. Room amenities are basic or aren't available.
No coffee/tea/water in the room, no explanation as to how you can get a drink to your room. No toiletries, hand and body wash bottles were empty.
Ventilation in the room was unresponsive to me making changes on the ipad, room was overly warm.
They urgently need new pillows. If you like sleeping with a bag of rocks in a sack, this is the place for you! I don't want to sleep in a bed that feels like it's been slept in by a million people (even if it has).

The whole experience is built around the use of the CitizenM app and the ipad in the room, sold as convenience, but it's a gimmick and makes the whole stay impersonal and cheap.

Location is ok - not the nicest part of Paris, but you can easily get around the city from here.

"Affordable luxury"....affordable yes, but I didn't find anything luxurious about the hotel or my stay.

Hello dear travallers! Indeed the beds are pushed against the wall. A good trick to not clamber over the other person is that, since the bed is 2 metres by 2 metres, you can place the pillows on the side of the wall where the window is and by doing that you can easily go in & out the bed without your partner realizing it (my husband & I do that). Hope this helps. Kindly yours, citizen Yolanda
