My husband and I spent two nights over New Years at "Le Sauvage Hotel" in Besancon. The owner, of the hotel Aurelie, made sure that every wish was fulfilled. The hotel is in a historical building (a transformed convent) and is very elegant. Our room was large and beautifully furnished in an antique traditional french style. The bathroom was big...

Lovely hotel high on a hill. Very elegant and old-fashioned in a good way. The room was neat and the bathroom was recently renovated with modern equipment. Excellent breakfast in a beautiful room with a view, smooth jazz playing in the background. Could not ask for more! Parking in a garden, also a secret garden to be found...

I definitely did appreciate my stay at this beautifully renovated hotel. Great historic building, location and atmosphere. The welcome was excellent and staff very friendly and professional. Rooms are well furnished and decorated with premium quality furniture. Breakfast is awesome and I of course recommend the local cheese. One little thing that seemed odd to me, the pillows on the...

Besancon is a lovely little town off the tourist trail. It's wrapped in a bend of the river and boasts a gigantic hilltop fortress by Vauban. Part of Hotel Le Sauvage was originally a chapel and it's all been renovated recently with great care. Our room was lovely, with a nice big modern bathroom. Breakfast is served in a large...

The hotel is very nice - the old building was beautifully renovated. The wifi network is however not very stable - we could not connect to the network closest to us. We did not try the breakfast - EUR 13,50 seemed us not worthwhile.

Great hotel! Perfect atmosphere, nicely decorated and complete rooms. Beautiful garden (= parking) embedded in an enchanting landscape. Attentive staff. Perfect breakfadt. Could be a five out of five stars hotel. But how is it possible that in 2016 your wifi network doesn't work???? Although offered in the ad, no apologies about the failing wifi, just the answer "our walls...

Ohh I am so excited. Exactly my type of hotel. Nicely decorated, rooms are big and beautifully furnished, bathroom like in a dream. Very warm staff and the relaxation is superb. Quiet and withing walking distance to the old city. Really loved it. I will come back for sure.

This was a great find and we were lucky to say here for 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful as we checked in to our superior room that we had reserved on line. I'm not sure if this was done only for us but we were shown two rooms to choose for our superior room. I loved...

This hotel is a diamond find. I can't find the words to say how beautiful the building and setting are. This converted convent has been restored to the highest standard and its style and ambiance is second to none in my opinion. Beautiful artworks and furniture really compliment the building, such opulence! The receptionist spoke good English and was very...

Our simple, but comfortable room was on the ground floor. The highlight was sitting on the terrace having an adult beverage after negotiating Besancon's narrow streets (mostly one way, thank goodness!). Breakfast the next morning was delightful, with meats and cheeses, juice and yogurt, breads, and soft-boiled eggs plus coffee and tea. Parking was an essential for us, since we...
