When we arrived, late - courtesy of the Ferry, we were so surprised to receive such a very warm welcome from the reception staff. It seemed nothing was too much trouble. Reception open all night, late and very early check-ins allowed, lovely clean room with shower room, space for our dogs, air conditioning, good buffet breakfast in wonderful sunny courtyard to set us up for our ongoing journey across the island. Would highly recommend and be very happy to stay there again. Merci bien Sud Hotel !
Sûd Hotel is a good choice for a few nights in Bastia. Rooms are small but clean and each has its own bathroom. The rooms at the front are a but noisier than usual because of the very busy road in front of it, but with the windows closed and the airco on, it is ok. Communication with Sûd Hotel is very good, they are very pro-active. They have their own in-house restaurant which is a true gem. Breakfast is in buffer form and good.
An externally unimpressive building on a very unimpressive road about 3km from the town centre did not bode well. But everything changed once we were through the door. A warm reception awaited us from the desk by the partly-enclosed garden which proved to be a good place for a nightcap. The air-conditioned room was comfortable, the shower worked, the breakfast was more than adequate - and available from an early hour so that we could enjoy it without rushing before taking a taxi - organised by the hotel - to the port for the morning ferry.
We were in Bastia for a few nights and stayed here and then a planned visit to Hotel Ostella. The boat from Livorno arrived late and because there is nowhere obvious to eat nearby, the staff were very helpful and served us a meat and cheese platter, even though the restaurant was closed. The room was small, but perfectly adequate and clean. There is a lovely roof garden to sit in, and although the beach was about a mile away, it was well-worth a visit on a hot day. I thought the cost of the room was very reasonable and commend the staff for their helpfulness and friendliness
We arrived today at 3 pm for checking... the room is small but indeed clean and has a feel good atmosphere BUT I NOTICED THAT BOTH CANAL (plus) + CHANNEL ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN MY ROOM. Therefore I go to the reception and mention the receptionist. He told me that it should be working, the hotel pays lots of money for the service, and maybe the programmation of the téléviser got scrambled. I ask him to check while we are going to visit the city. We return to the hotel, I asked if he check about canal + THe receptionist told me that is the only room that is actually not functioning, and he can’t explain why, and since it’s Saturday, no technician is available. I was offered to watch canal + in the lobby 😂😂😂😂😂 I though it was a joke but no. Also another negative point, the free WiFi is unsecured, therefore not very compatible with Appel, Safari isn’t responding + the WiFi goes on and off...it’s annoying but not the end of the world. It’s a nice and cosy hôtel but if I knew those inconveniences, i would book at the best western because the actually difference is 20 € for the night, and would have a proper WiFi and could have watch canal + in my room in peace instead of the lobby. If you don’t mind of those details mention! Then YES I recommend this hotel, it’s cute and cosy…
