Stayed with Newmarket Holidays. Very poor experience. Had to fight to be able to eat breakfast in main restaurant, we were segregated to a conference room on the first morning! We actually ignored this on day 2 and had breakfast in the restaurant and staff were very abrupt telling us we couldn’t sit at certain tables. Room was very dated and tired. Soap dispenser fell off the wall, water in bath was brown one night! View from our room was bins and run down looking block of flats! Not what you want on holiday! Hotel advertised with a swimming pool…….it looked grubby and run down ….. Serving at the bar seemed to be too much trouble for the staff in the evening! The was one older gentleman who was very nice and helpful, apart from him we found the staff unhelpful.
Room clean and OK but dated decor. Staff in the ‘restaurant’ were offhand and impolite. As we were part of a Newmarket Group we were not allowed to sit in certain areas of the dining hall or terrace. No explanation was given and we were herded into the permitted area with no apology. Slight change in attitude of the staff after our rep spoke with them. However, most of the food was of a very poor quality with no choices. Newmarket need to change to a better hotel. This was not a cheap holiday and the hotel provided should be better
We were booked into this hotel for 3 nights as part of a Newmarket tour of Sardinia and Corsica. We were astonished to learn that this hotel has no workable kitchen and all our food throughout our 3 night stay was brought in by outside caterers. We had no choice of the poor quality meals offered, other than the special diet requests. The hotel is situated up a side street at the edge of the City and is quite a hike into the main centre. The rooms were adequate but nothing to write home about. I was glad that we were not staying any longer than we did. The few staff we encountered were not the most helpful at times.
Here for x3 nights on tour of Corsica. Good sized bedroom in old block with dirty carpet and greatly in need of updating. Some pluming problems with emptying of both water due to blocked hair. Being a Coeliac I was given I slice of gluten free bread and one slice of ham. Friend also vegetarian. Evening meal poor quality so we tried to have our main meal outside at lunch time. Hotel based near ferries so long walk to main town and decent restaurants. Staff not particularly friendly either compared to others on trip.
The hotel as a whole lives up to its name. This, of course, is not yet an "old castle", but the interior is already slightly outdated. But everything works. A big plus of the hotel in our eyes is the presence of a swimming pool. In the morning we used this option with pleasure. The price of 100 euros per double seems excessive. This is the price of Hilton, Mercure or Marriott in other cities. But apparently in Corsica, prices were not reduced even during the pandemic. ..
Very noisy rooms, you can basically hear the traffic and people shouting on the highest floor, like you were sitting on the street! Old hotel renovated, so the walls, terraces, hallways, doors, curtail, closet and the hotel facade are shabby (especially the hallways and the doors). There is a water leakage mark on the ceiling of the bathroom, the water is not warm constantly (it is changing from cold to warm by itself), and the water is flowing out from the bathroom even when you are showering very carefully facing the wall. There are like 10-15 parking places for the whole hotel, and the parking is not closed. Staff is definitely not nice.. Upon requesting to check the room before paying, we were denied by the receptionist, saying that she was alone, and she only let us to the room after paying the full amount. The rooms are not looking directly towards the see, there is a very dirty alley and a street between as well, so no chance of nice panorama pics.…
Hotel ok bit far away from centre quite long walk. Reception modern but room decor a bit dated. Problem with pool water turned green. Staff working on it but no apology or explanation. Couldn’t use pool so big miss on short stay. Staff and manager unsympathetic, left with a bad feeling. Wouldn’t go back.
We travelled here to attend a wedding at Villa De Cardinale. stayed at the Castel Vecchio. Fabulous hotel. staff very professional and friendly. stayed on for 8 more days after the wedding. enjoyed so much. food excellent but we eat the rest of the week down in the town of Castel Gandolfo. Lots to see there, visited the Pope's palace and gardens.
This hotel was part of a Newmarket two stay holiday in Sardinia and Corsica. The hotel has a grand entrance and the reception area is nice and cool. Wi-fi is a little hit and miss in the bedrooms and unfortunately there are no fridges/minibar in the bedrooms. The bathroom was not well lit. Breakfast was generally fine but the evening meal left a lot to be desired. There are no meal choices, you get what you are given, like it or not, and portion sizes are small. I do not think the food is made on the premises. The restaurant staff were lovely but this is a B&B really and not a hotel of a good enough standard for the once reputable Newmarket Holiday company to chose for guests that have paid over £1000 for the holiday.
We spend here one night on stopover in Ajaccio. Reception very friendly and accommodating our family needs for connected rooms. The hotel has a small pool to cool down and a breakfast restaurant. Rooms are older and a bit old fashion, but good for a night. Double bed is 150-160cm wide...
