We ended up for one night in hotel La Cloche.
Positive is the fact that the hotel is not expensive, lies on a central location and has parking nearby.
The breakfast is basic but not bad.
The room: that’s a different story. The wallpaper is damaged and peeling of the walls. The shower system nearly fell apart. The room needs a thorough fresh-up. The way it is now is nearly not-done. I wouldn’t let my guest sleep in this kind of room at my house.
Conclusion: happy we could leave.
Thank Roger V

Stayed a night on our annual Champagne trip. Must say that this hotel is great price/performance. Simple, noisy, cold water, yes. But also very charming, great staff and great parking next to the hotel. Breakfast was really French but worth the 8 euros.

We visited this hotel in 2015 and I gave it a four star rating. We were returning to Epernay so I didn't hesitate to book it again.
How much can a hotel go down hill in three years? Quite a lot,in this case. Our room was small and stuffy, facing on to the noisy roundabout. When we asked if there was a fan available (a reasonable request,in 30 degrees of heat),We got a curt,"non", like we were asking for something unusual. The tiny bathroom had a loose toilet..it was the whole toilet that was loose, not just the seat. The hot water was non existent and the towels were inadequate and ancient
There were two power sockets in the room, one powering the TV and the other one a lamp, both far from the bed.If we needed to recharge phones etc, it involved unplugging either the TV or lamp.
The staff did not engage with us at all, in spite of the fact that I can speak French quite fluently. We were given our key and left to haul our bags up the stairs and the only other time we saw anyone was to pay the bill.
It's such a shame this hotel has deteriorated so much.It is so conveniently situated and with some tlc and good customer service could be really good.
I'm not going to take the chance and return there again.I'm sorry, no recommendation this time

The location of this hotel is by far the strongest point. I'm afraid it goes downhill from there as the overall feel of this place is undermaintained and grubby. The rooms are very basic and well worn although the bed linen was clean. The bathroom was downright awful!

There is little noise insulation between the rooms so keep your fingers crossed that you are not next to snorers - or worse!

I have to counter all the above by saying that the price was modest and the central location next to the church was great.

You really do get what you pay for.

Staff were very friendly throughout the two nights we stayed. Location is fantastic for all the vineyards and easy to park. There’s an expensive car park in front of the hotel or free parking (can be found near Charles Mignon vineyard). Room is dated and shower is smaller than in most caravans and there’s a funny smell. Cannot emphasise how small the shower is plus the shower head fell on top of me and my partner every single time we used it. The room is small but fine for a short stay in epernay and if you’re out all day it’s not so bad
Thank Annie L
