While the hostel was in a fantastic location for the Chenonceaux chateau it is outdated and needs a complete refurbishment. The staff where very good with the guests, but the hostel side of it was very much outdated. The bathrooms were very 1960's the rooms advertised coffee/ tea making facilities but failed to provide tea and coffee. It also said...

Ham and cheese salad - cheapest ham possible and grated cheese that was just on the turn, other than that just iceberg lettuce and tomato slices. waiting staff young and scruffy and one in particular very unpleasant in manner and in dire need of a wash. She stank. If front of house staff so smelly you wonder about unseen staff,...

We had a twin room with bathroom which was clean and adequate for our needs. Bathroom could have done with some sort of shower screen, but otherwise it was ok. We did not eat in the restaurant, but it looked a good price. Quiet. Seemed to be mainly French guests.

First impressions of this hotel do it no favours. A rather dingy entrance/reception area with rooms leading off decorated in the main in brown. Steep winding stairs to first and second floor levels make it unsuitable for disabled people. Our room on the second floor was clean, and the beds reasonably comfortable . The bathroom was L shaped and rather...

This is a 2 star hotel and is what I expected. It's small but clean. We had the two rooms for four of us and they were comfortable enough (but the kids said they could feel the springs in their mattresses). It was a hot night and we had to keep the windows open and could hear the train but...

They asked whether we stayed here and since then it took us around 40 minutes between each course. We asked repetitively where our food was. We got shrugs and rude stares. After the meal we expected an included coffee. 30 minutes later we got a tiny thimble worth of coffee. The service was appalling. The restaurant was not busy either....

We only stayed one night and were so glad that was all that we had planned to be there. We had two separate rooms for my husband, myself and our two boys, ages 9 and 12. There were no rooms that all four of us could stay in together. The showers have no shower curtains at all; nothing to stop...

stayed 3 nights here. garden nice for simple dinner. (plastic chairs) hotel itself cosy but noisy . free parking no fan in rooms, so it can be very hot during summer. drinks are very expensive, 2 capucinnos for 12 euros, 1 aqua mineral for 5.5 eur. just used the hotel to start our bike round trips in the beautiful area.

This was our second time at the Hostel du Roy and both times have been very enjoyable. It is within a ten minute walk of the chateau, one of the most beautiful ones in the Loire valley with fantastic gardens and a storied past. We chose it because it was central to the chateaux we wanted to visit. The rooms...

We stayed in the annex, just down the street from the reception, right on the main street. Our very small room was at the back on the ground floor and although small, was suitable. The room was clean and we had a window out the back which was excellent for drying clothes. The bathroom was pretty dark with a bath,...
