Hotel Cep is truly an exceptional place to stay. Romantic, beautiful lobby/breakfast rooms, and very nicely appointed rooms with a great large bathroom. The staff was wonderful. It’s easy walking distance to the Hotel Dieu and the surrounding sites/ramparts. Easy access to nice local restaurants, and right down the street from Joseph Drouhin Winery, as well as others. Parking on site. The buffett breakfast was excellent, including eggs cooked to order on request. We absolutely loved this hotel. The Michelin-starred Loiseau de Vignes is part of it, but indepently run. A very nice convenient place to have dinner the night you arrive! Highly recommend!

Hotel's Favourite
In choosing to stay here, it's important to understand that this is not a modern Hilton/Hyatt etc. It's a quirky inn dating back hundreds of years, with a unique and quirky character to its layout and decor. It feels a little like staying in a charming family-run bed & breakfast, rather than a conventional 5-star hotel. We found this charming and unique; others may find it somewhat out-dated by modern standards. It was certainly clean and comfortable, with very attentive service. There was even a small gym situated at the top of a medieval tower - where else would you find that? The breakfast buffet was small but high quality and with good service. The highlight for us was a really informative and enjoyable tour/tasting in the hotel's private wine cellar - what a great chance to learn about and taste some of the finest Burgundy wines!

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect superior service at a hotel that costs four times as much as others in the area. Sure, the grounds are beautiful and the rooms and amenities luxurious, but, I shouldn't experience drain backups and burnt-out light bulbs. In the dining room, there were at least three staff each morning but no tables had been cleared and you had to go find your own utensils and someone to bring you coffee. I've experienced better service at the Holiday Inn Express.

This is by far my favorite hotel in France. The staff could not be nicer, more professional nor more efficient. The front desk cheerfully helped us arrange tours and transportation. They were awesome. And, the bartender! The best ever! He knows his cocktails and wines, with an added sense of humor to boot. Do not miss going to the bar everyday you are there. Breakfast on the patio was delicious, again, excellent wait-staff. The lobby and sitting rooms are magnificent. The rooms were also gorgeous and extremely comfortable. I don't know how they do it, but every time we stepped out of our room and returned (even after a few moments), our room was tidied and refreshed beautifully. Beaune is an amazing city, and this hotel is the cream on top.

I chose the Le Cep in the hope it would offer the quintessential French experience in the centre of Beaune. After a long day of travelling I received a very warm welcome by the lady on duty and Sebastian took care of parking my vehicle and brought my luggage to the charming room I had been given. Despite the room being pretty and charming it also functioned very well. I had plenty of hanging space and the bathroom was well appointed. As the evening drew to a close I reflected on Le Cep's other key advantage its location. I was able to walk out of the front door and enjoy the end of evening atmosphere of the town and the buildings with their facades lit up with their fascinating projections. Breakfast the next day was excellent, 'patisserie delicious', fresh orange juice, bread and naughty cheeses and good coffee. I sat in the lower cellar area the first morning but graduated up stairs and on my final morning outside which was delightful. Beaune central has all the classic architectural tics of the French it really is very beautiful but I also went out alongside the river to the parks to the North and "Parc de la Bouzaise' with its Lake. The only matter that misfired is I had booked restaurants for all three nights and only the restaurant connected to the hotel was booked in December. I sent two subsequent E mails in the immediate days before arriving and even rang the hotel from England where I was staying. A gentlemen reassured me that he would take care of it but alas did not. However Marie Pauline stepped up to the plate apologised and secured Le Conte, my original choice, and another location which still had availability. Both were excellent but as a solo traveller I do not want to be among large noisy groups or music both of which were on display in the impromptu choice. This demonstrated to me why my pre arrival research is so vital. Nevertheless M-P could not have been more helpful. For my final full day I hiked west into the hills above the vineyards and made a circuit of four hours arriving at Meursault after two 1/2 hours and then took a lower route back in 1 1/2 hour through Volnay and Pommard it was a gorgeous day and such fun! Le cep delivered thank you but diarise those restaurant requests in future!

A beautiful hotel nestled in the heart of the historic center. Wonderfully updated rooms, excellent amenities - particularly the spa and private hammam. The owner is charming and has a clear passion for hospitality and ensuring his guests feel welcome and very well looked after. We will be returning soon.

We had a very comfortable stay. Fantastic hotel, great staff, very lovely large room (107), great breakfast, my wife had a really good treatment in the Spa and we really enjoyed our meal in the adjacent restaurant. The other night we ate at L'Expression which we would also heartily recommend. We hope to return.

We were there 3 nights in the Premier Cru room. We loved this hotel. Close to everything in Beaune. Rooms were big with good storage. It was very hot outside so it was great the Air Conditioning worked well. Breakfast was just enough. I would suggest getting the made to order omelette. Minor suggestion. Get a fan in the lobby/bar. It was too hot with the open doors. It would entice more folks to stay at the bar.

Hotel Le Cep is a perfectly nice hotel. However, on a recent stay there with my family, there are issues that I'd like to flag for other travelers to be aware of. We had 3 suites for 6 family members. One of the suites was visibly dirty upon check in (balls of hair on the bathroom floor) and the A/C in that room also did not work very well. The rooms are outdated, and I realize that's part of the charm, but the in-room blow dryer that my mom used literally caught fire (smoke and all). It probably hadn't been replaced in close to 15 years. The breakfast buffet is outdoors and we went every morning, but there were birds landing all over the food each day, and one day one even pooped on the bread. There were no attendants to care for the food. We showed up to check in on a Friday and sat in the hotel lounge to order a bottle of wine and some snacks, but they randomly did not have a chef. It took us a full hour and a half to get a plate of meat and cheese. On our final night, we decided to eat an early dinner in one of our suites. We requested plates, knives, forks, napkins, and 2 ice buckets, as well as a plate of meat. Again, it took well over an hour to get cutlery, and they delivered the ice buckets to the wrong room. Perhaps most egregiously/frustrating was that their front desk staff messed up our dinner reservations. My sister had been communicating with the hotel staff via email months in advance, and requested reservations for 6 people (we had booked 3 suites for our whole family). We arrived at the restaurant they booked us the first night only for the hostess to inform us that the reservation was only for 2 people. Thankfully, we were able to get a table. However, we went to the front desk that night to let them know about the issue, and the front desk person told us "Sorry, we made all your other reservations are also for 2 people." They shrugged it off. We finally, after a wild goose chase, were able to speak with management, who apologized profusely and very generously offered us a private wine tasting in his cellar, which was a much-appreciated gesture. The staff at Le Cep are nice and generally pleasant, but communication is poor. Over months of correspondence, my sister would constantly follow up and ask for confirmations only to not hear for weeks on end, and not have her questions answered. In all, I would say that our experience with Le Cep was not in line with other 5 star hotels we have stayed at, both in France and around the world.
