Looked after by Ryanair. No problem with flights either way. Both on time. Flew out from Manchester, easy passing through customs, much better than Liverpool airport where we had a bad experience with staff.

We staid for a night in the Hotel De Bordeaux and had booked a double room. The rooms were not big but OK and very well insulated from the noise. The welcome of the owner was warm. So my first impression was very good. However, things became more tricky at breakfast as the tables are for two only. My kids whilst at the table close to us did not get the point of being separated of us. It did not seem to be an option to move the tables. After having eaten, they started playing little train. They were not screaming but playing as kids of 3 and 5 can do. The other clients did not seem to bother but it obviously disturbed the owner who sent us very expressive discontent regards. Further, he was very keen to rotate the tables between persons on a very fast pace. Not very welcoming. Too bad because the rest was good.

We arrived for a one night stop en route south. On arrival at about 2pm we found the hotel all locked up, a further check of our booking revealed check in was between 1700 and 2000. After a look round town we returned to a warm welcome from who I took to be the landlady. She organised breakfast and (secure - locked at night) parking for our car and gave us a map of town, pointing out where we would find restaurants. She also gave us a code for the door as reception is not always staffed. The room was small and simply decorated but clean and traditional in appearance. The bathroom was very bijou, with a toilet, basin and tiny shower cubicle, but everything was clean and functional. We spent a comfortable night. Breakfast was a croissant and half a baguette with toppings laid out with cereals laid out in a buffet along with the usual hot and cold drinks. Fairly standard for a budget French hotel but fresh and tasty. Would happily stop here overnight again.

The main thing other people need to know is that this hotel does not open until 6 in the evening. Quite expensive for the basic place it is. Location not too bad - nearer to the city centre than it seems when you arrive.

I wanted to stay as close as possible to Palce de Jaude, but most hotels were fully booked. So I booked Hotel de Bordeaux. It's a short walk from the square. Free wifi, comfortable bed. Breakfast is overpriced. Staff is friendly and helpful and speak some English.
