First of all I don't want to moan about this hotel as it really is very very good. The room was excellent and well priced. The check in staff were fantastic and I couldn't fault anything else, other than one thing that stopped me giving it an excellent. Myself and my guest both ordered an omelette from the breakfast menu,...

I stayed here one night as a transit stop after 30+ hours of travel. The reception staff were great and the room was nice. A very comfy bed although the pillows were a bit average. The only downside was my noise neighbours waking me coming into the next door room. A little consideration outside the door always helps, but it...

The location of this hotel is so convenient, it is literally a few hundred yards from the train station and a short walk to the Arndale Centre and Northern Quarter. The spa was fantastic, the back, neck and shoulder massage and facial was very relaxing and the spa staff were very skilled and professional. The Espa products were lovely and...

Absolutely first class service from Laura in the Smoak restaurant during my daughter's 21st birthday family get together. So polite and helpful, even accounting for the diabetic grandmothers' requests for a change to the menu choices - always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. Also a mention to the lady (name unknown) who gave our 5 yo niece a...

Essentially, there isn't anything wrong with this hotel, but the Malmaison is a strong luxury brand, with the associated price tag so there is an expectation before you even arrive that things will be really really good. Not the case sadly. Regarding the room; little things were unfinished ...no carpet joiners so carpet edges were a bit raggy, unfinished bathroom...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mal Manchester: In the home of the beautiful game you're about to turn Moulin Rouge. A short trundle for wheel-based luggage from Piccadilly Station and you're at the Mal - somewhere in the mists between Paris and the 24-hour party city. You cross the chessboard reception and suddenly you're a king for the knight. It's your move. Smoak Bar and Grill at Mal Manchester: A grill room and bar quite unlike anything Manchester has ever before seen. Set in the award-winning Malmaison Hotel minutes from Piccadilly station, Smoak is total indulgence for the senses. The amazing aroma of nation's finest oak-smoked steaks and fresh fish, served to a pewter counter or cosy booth. Imagine great imported beers, cocktails and bubbly served from an unusual sunken bar, with highly skilled mixologists serving you while you stay seated. Picture a stylish relaxed but chic interior a mix of booths, banquettes and counter stools. Come lunchtime and it's locally sourced bread, generously filled sandwiches and salads or full blown grill dining for the more adventurous lunchtime escapee. Come sundown the mood changes and we turn the aromas up to eleven. The cocktails flow, the steaks sizzle, the music turns up and the night begins. Ember Lounge at Mal Manchester: We could tell you about the Ember Lounge - an immaculate and opulent cocktail bar furtively hidden to the rear of the Smoak Bar & Grill. ... more   less
