The first impression when you walk into the lobby is great. The building and the decoration are amazing however the service we received was disappointing. We booked a twin double room instead of a double bed room just because the twin room said it had city views. At our arrival we were given a room in the ground floor that...

We spent one night at The Principle and loved the hotel atmosphere and decor. The staff at checkin and checkout were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they take a lot of pride in their hotel. The breakfast was fantastic as well. However, there were a few minor flaws. The bed was small. Not really suitable for two people....

For a 5 star hotel our room wasn't great. In the lower ground with a brick wall a few inches from the window. No air con so it was very hot. Described as a double room meant it had a double bed which isn't quite the same. The decor was fine.

I am staying at the Principal right now, checking out this morning. What went well? The building is splendidly ornate and a reminder of the great Victorian age of architecture and artisanship, with tiling and ornate touches everywhere. It's a lovely place. The room also fell into this category. The location is perfect for exploring Manchester on foot, just ten...

I have been fortunate enough to stay in some amazing places. I stayed at the principle for only one night. Wow. Words don't do it justice to how wonderful, helpful, kind the staff were. Thank you to Chris and Carlos from concierge. Welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area and ask them about the bee's. The bar staff. Mike, Chris...

From the moment you walk in, it feels luxurious and is absolutely beautiful. The staff are very friendly and there is a great atmosphere there too. The rooms are large with a very high ceiling. Bathrooms are also really nice and they have nice little touches like bottles of water and a complimentary tuck box in the room. Really enjoyed...

I checked in to this hotel and was concerned that my room was directly over the railway track and being a light sleeper I asked to move room. I was moved into the clock tower and had a lovely large room. My travel plans changed and I had to check in for another night, this time into the other part...

The lobby and bar / restaurant / winter garden are breathtaking the attention to detail staggering and the feeling of opulent grandeur is infectious. These are spaces you want to be in and linger in simply to enjoy the moment of being there. I...

My partner surprised me with a night away in one of the suites. On stepping into the hotel you are greeted by a glorious, glass domed foyer which instantly makes you feel as though you are somewhere very special. We were escorted to our room by one of staff. On arrival there was champagne on ice, rose petals and a...

Love this place. Located downtown (less than a 25 pound taxi from the airport.) Lots of food and drink options within easy walking distance. And the Oxford Road train station is across the street. Beautiful property that has been in existence since the 19th century. Lots of curb appeal and recent renovations have modernized the interior. The lobby is smallish...
