One of the other reviewers said 'it's cheap for a reason' - exactly right, but when paying more than most Premier Inns you should at least expect a comfortable bed and a decent shower. The decor is very tired, the bathroom was not clean, the service was fairly disinterested. The best bit was the amazing croissants for breakfast.

This review should be read in conjunction to the Grange Moor Hotel which is where I moved to after one night I booked for 5 nights as I was in business Having eaten in the restaurant ( which is modern and smart ) I expected the rooms to be the same - not so Check in was reasonable but I...

Stayed overnight. Restaurant and bar were very busy on our arrival and place was a bit of a mess but that was to be expected. Room was at top of the building and although old it was very clean with comfy bed and good en suite facilities. Plenty of tea and coffee in room.

I stayed 3 nights over a weekend and had no problems checking in. The room and bathroom were large and clean but the whole place could do with a makeover. Paintwork is worn and the walls are starting to look shabby. The bed was comfortable with good sized pillows. The hospitality tray had a good supply of tea and coffee...

One night here and that was too much. It took me several minutes to check in as the staff left me standing and then did not know how to operate the system. My room was spacious enough but the bed was so soggy I could feel the springs and the bathroom was dirty. I would have cleaned it myself but...

We stayed at the White Rabbit as a stop over on our way golfing to Royal St Georges Golf Club. We managed to get a good deal on a family room as there was three of us. Room was roomy and comfortable and the shower was good and powerful. The only downside was when we arrived we were told the...

I stayed here a night with my son as my house was under repair. The room was dated but bearable. The beds were very soft and springy so not great. The wi-fi did not work - I had to go to the bar to get this sorted but they just said they couldn't get it to work on my phone...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1797 to house the officers' quarters of the Invicta Barracks, this distinctive lodge is one of the most welcoming hotels in Maidstone. Rather than repelling Napoleonic troops it now serves as relaxing budget accommodation for short breaks and business travel, and is ideally placed for exploring Kent or nearby towns like Chatham and East Malling. The colonial-style building offers 12 comfy rooms and a cosy pub, where you can unwind with a pint of cask ale and some freshly cooked, seasonally inspired food.Maidstone is Kent's business heart, but there's plenty to see and do besides attending an event at the East Malling Conference Centre. It's best known as home to the beautiful Leeds Castle, with its 500 acres of scenic parkland and popular golf course, but you could also enjoy the town's theatres, bars or busy shopping centre. Or you could explore the area via water, taking a canoe along the River Medway or a more leisurely boat trip on the Allington Belle or Kentish Lady. ... more   less
