Thank you for being so welcoming and friendly. The service was excellent, rooms lovely and views amazing. I had a lovely time with my family and would definitely return. The breakfast was very nice, especially the home made brown bread.

Found this place on trip advisor. Had the best reviews and great pictures to give it more thought to book. Great value and amenities. The front desk staff upon entering making us feel welcome and offering some hotel info. The staff at the restaurant were very welcome and friendly. Prompt and offered great service. The accommodation and hotel itself is very charming, rustic and comforting. Bedroom was spacious with one single bed and one double bed. Great bathroom and a lovely shower with great pressure and easy to use. The restaurant had great options for all meals. We ate all 3 meals there and each one was delicious as the last. The soup of the day was comfort food at its best, the pasta dishes and breakfast were all top notch. So much history to check out and learn all around the property. Can't wait to go back.

I’ve been coming to The Woodenbridge since I was a child so it’s full of memories for me . We booked here back in July in between lockdowns etc I’m frontline nursing staff so was really looking forward to a few nights away in my favourite spot . We booked a more expensive room with a balcony . We got here very late after taking the scenic route and a few wrong turns ! A very pleasant lady called us from the hotel to confirm our arrival and check if we needed assistance with directions etc she assured us that all was well and someone would be on the desk when we got there . There was an issue with my debit card (which we had discovered at a petrol station). This sometimes happens with my bank when I cross the border and can be rectified with a call to the bank. The lady stated this was no problem and she would pass it on. On arrival there was a young man on the desk. He said the card and payment weren’t an issue and I could pay on leaving . He gave us our room keys and was helpful providing us with tea & coffee after our extra long journey . Room was a good size and spotless clean. Balcony was also a good size and we could sit chairs out on it . The next day was spent walking in and around the hotel as the area is stunning . We had dinner which was fine and there was a good atmosphere in the bar/restaurant despite the pandemic. My partner paid for this in cash . We went to bed only to be rudely awoken at midnight by loud banging on the door. Some staff member (called Mark?) was telling that we hadn’t paid our bill . I shouted we had paid for dinner and he replied that he meant the room bill . I shouted back that it was already discussed on arrival and I’d pay in the morning to which he said “no you’ll pay now and I’m letting you know that I’m coming in”!!! He then proceeded to enter the room ! Never ever have I had such treatment before. I was half awake and totally stunned . I got dressed at his request and went down to reception . I explained (with members of the public sitting around listening) what had happened on arrival etc he said “the girl should never have let you stay until you had the money “ I explained that she had no problem and that it wasn’t actually her that checked us in. The man who had was standing behind a pillar and I pointed out that it was HIM who checked us in. At which point he scurried off with his pint of beer. I have never been so humiliated in all my life . I was shocked at the aggressive and demanding nature of this man. I felt really threatened. I had to get my partner down as this man was so intimidating. It finished when he told me to just pay for one night and leave now . Another staff member also called mark comforted me as I went to my room in tears . I got my bags together as it was all ruined now . We paid for our one night and drove home at almost 2 in the morning . On coming back down with the bags, “aggressive Mark” had conveniently disappeared and left someone else to deal with us . This guy was so nice and also embarrassed and it wasn’t his fault . He called Mark to say we were leaving . Mark was clearly hiding somewhere after realising his incompetence. Honestly will never be back. I have tried repeatedly to get to speak to someone about this but to no avail. I didn’t really want to post this review because despite everything , this hotel is so pretty and holds a special place for me ... until now . No apology, no reply , nothing . Mark and his drinking buddy who checked me in should not reflect the hotel as a whole and it would be wrong and shameful of me to say that . However my experience was ruined and I won’t be back

Liked · Staff lovely, everything was fully covid-compliant and made us feel safe and at ease. The room and bed were lovely. Great big bath with decent shower, and we had a lovely view of the countryside from our balcony. Bar onsite was great, friendly servers, speedy service, good food and drink. Breakfast in morning was great.
