The Whitford House Hotel is often celebrated for its spotless, tastefully decorated rooms and its prime location, perfect for those looking to explore Wexford town and the south east. While some guests consider the rooms a bit dated, the overall cleanliness and elegant atmosphere of the hotel receive high marks. The service is generally regarded as professional and warm, adding to the hotel's charm.
Despite mixed feelings on value, with some finding it pricey, the generous portions and quality of dining options are appreciated. However, a few guests suggest there's room to enhance certain amenities.

Hotel's Favourite
A wonderful experience from start to finish.
Where do I start …. From the exceptional reception experience & staff are just so helpful & friendly.
I arrived a little early & the weather was glorious so I sat out for a few drinks & got a courtesy call to let me know my room was ready.
Staff are impeccable & so hard working. They cannot do enough for you. In particular The manager is constantly ensuring every patron is feeling welcome & greeting everyone coming into breakfast in the morning & asking them about their plans for the day & double -checking everyone is served. He just brings such a wonderful energy to the place.
I was just blown away with the level of standards & quality of customer service among staff .
My room was just fabulous with a lovely balcony to compliment the lovely weather. The upholstery upstairs & down stairs in the foyer are just so impacting, classy rich & striking. It was just a pleasure to even wallow in the foyer with a book & drink & embrace the beauty colour & embroidered carpets. Even just the simple throw that lay with a cushion shows the thought & elegance put in to just make this hotel so inviting welcome & comfortable. Even the background music is so soft & relaxing. This was a further lovely touch to setting the scene of opulence.
Breakfast was just beautifully cooked & presented. Wonderful selection of breads cereals Hot Breakfast is served to you which I felt even was more professional & added more class to those wonderful experience. A little touch of parsley left of your place to just complete the look of a lovely breakfast . The restaurant was full all hours of the day. I ate both nights & beautiful food. My burger was so tasty. I just felt that maybe they could throw a little rocket on the plate as it looks bare on the plate when it first comes. I did ask for a side salad & it was the only thing I can say was not the best ... large chunks of tomatoes & coleslaw & some lettuce no dressing …I just felt a rocket with a dressing a few cherry tomatoes & colourful peppers & onions would have given it a better edge . but not enough to give out about. The crumble was to die for so homemade & tasty. I had it both nights .
Just can’t wait to come back to this gem of a hotel. Continued success to this hotel & to all the Amazing staff that make this a wonderful stay.

I have stayed in all the hotels in Wexford Town area for work purposes at this stage and the Whitford is by far my favourite. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of Covid 19 compliance measures that I witnessed at the Whitford recently. Each room had a cleaning procedures notice on the door that stated when and by whom the room had been sanitised by. Hand sanitisers were evident on each floor and at all entrances. The foyer is one of the few indoor public places that I have witnessed staff approaching guests to gently remind them to wear face coverings whenever possible. Staff as usual were friendly, courteous and vigilant.

The Whitford's greatest asset is its staff. Warm, friendly, helpful and efficient, you could travel the world and not find their equal. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with the guest's every need catered for. The breakfast is excellent as is the food in the Bistro on the ground floor. Great hotel, great food and lovely atmosphere. All precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of the guests during the current pandemic. These include completely sanitized rooms which are sealed when thoroughly cleaned; glass partitions erected in the dining room and the breakfast room to ensure that the guests do not come in contact with each other; masks have to be worn in all public areas and social distancing adhered to. I felt very safe in this hotel on my recent visit. (One thing I would add however is that the catering manager draw up a proper menu for vegetarians and vegans as the current one lists items under these headings which are neither vegetarian nor vegan. Last year's vegetarian and vegan menu was excellent but this year's leaves a lot to be desired).

+1
Stayed in this great hotel in September, to allow me complete a few outstanding jobs in Wexford. Booked last minute (same day) and was allocated room #126. Fair price too.
Check in/out was fast, friendly and efficient. From the moment I walked through the front door I felt Covid safe as this hotel has gone to great lengths to keep their staff and Customers safe!
Room (and hotel in general) was spotlessly clean. I was impressed with the yellow note on the door of room showing the sanitise tasks that were completed (see image). Lots of safety measures in place throughout along with sanitiser stations etc. Ample safety measures in place.
Excellent staff (special mention for Laura in bar dining area and Stephanie in Breakfast room) . Thank you ladies for your hospitality and professionalism.
Food - excellent choice - made it very difficult to decide! I had dinner in the lounge/bar and ordered Chowder for starter (excellent), Steak for mains (9/10 > not the leanest/nicest piece of steak I've eaten but OK) and Warm Stewed Apple for desert (excellent). I was more than full by the time I finished eating and had to cancel my 2nd pint!
The brown bread served with the chowder and again at breakfast was excellent.
Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and excellent food served in a timely manner.
I did not have the time to use the pool etc this time but I'm sure it has the same high standards as the hotel!
In summary, a highly enjoyable, safe and comfortable stay in this pleasant hotel. I will continue to use it as my working base when in the Wexford area.
This hotel sets the standard for its competitors!

The Whitford House Hotel was absolutely beautiful and very well sound proofed at night time. It was probably a little bit pricey for two nights at just over €500 but I did book last minute so this could be a contributory factor. Would definitely stay there again if I got a good deal.

My family stayed here for 3 nights in July and were very impressed with the high level of décor and cleanliness. Breakfast was a feast with a full range of options, including cooked to order omelets etc.
Evening meals were enjoyed by all - very extensive menu with all dishes prepared and presented competently.
Also enjoyed some cocktails as part of the holiday experience.
All staff very friendly and hard-working throughout.
Would definitely stay here again !

We stayed for one night and the hotel in general has a really nice feel. The restaurant is lovely and the food is good but it does feel slightly over priced and I felt confused as to how fresh some of the dishes and how much of them were prepared on site particularly with the speed at which they came out of the kitchen!
The staff were some of the friendliest in Ireland!
Our biggest gripe was the amount of single use plastic being used which I can only assume is a covid measure. We aren’t big environmentalists but it was very noticeable and seems wrong. I don’t understand how bagging the tea and coffee and bathroom accessories in plastic bags helps reduce the number of touch points. Why is a plastic cup better than a glass one that is washed at high temperatures? The milk has to be handled in to a bag as much if not more than it needs to be handled straight on to a table! If you must bag things due to government guidelines then use recyclable or compostable bags.

Hi Sally, Thank you sincerely for your valued and constructive feedback, as a strong supporter of the environment I totally concur with you in relation to waste, I abhor waste. However, the packaging requirements are in keeping with the guidelines in the fight against Covid and we will continue to do what is required of us to maintain the safety of both our guests and colleagues. Fortunately, due to the advancements in technology all plastic packaging waste including soft plastic are now fully recyclable. With reference to your food feedback, I am disappointed that due to great mise en place and great Team work that we are being judged and criticised for the service being too efficient, it seems particularly unfair. I am pleased to clarify that all of the food served in all our Restaurants are prepared inhouse including our desserts by a wonderful kitchen brigade who work extremely hard and deserve the credit of a job well-done. Thank you for your custom and for your comments, we do hope that we may have the opportunity to serve you at some future date. Please take care, stay safe. Kin Regards, Eilish Whitty

The hotel looks nice, nicely decorated, neat garden. However, for the price they ask, they should improve. There is no elevater in the hotel and no one helps you with your luggage. I am young, but I saw many elderly people struggling to get to the upper floor. No one bothered. There is no mini bar in the room, you do not get offered even a bottle of water and if you bring one yourself, there do not even provide glasses. We booked a superier room and did not even have a balcony, although there were many empty rooms. There is no toilet brush in the bathroom, which is disgraceful. No bathrobes, slippers… a good example on just maximizing profit in cutting down amenities. Pool area is in fact accessible to everyone. Too many children. It is in fact a public swimmingpool. Food in the restaurant was very good. Waiter was perfect. Overall, I would not recommend. If you see their answers to bad reviews, you also get an impression of how less they care.

Good morning, Thank you sincerely for your valued feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to post your experience of your recent stay. We take on board the full content of each review as it is an opportunity to learn further our guests ever changing needs. Please accept our sincere apology if we have not met your expectations, this is very disappointing for our amazing hard working Team and our family. While it is hotel policy to offer assistance with luggage, I will certainly speak with our Reception Team with regard to this claim. Our Leisure Club is a private Club open to club members and Hotel residents. As stated in our bedroom information pack we ask that you contact reception for water, bath robes and slippers. Please note a mini bar or elevator is not a requirement for 4 star Failte Ireland accommodation. As a family run Hotel we derive great pleasure in enhancing our guests visit, we find your comments very disappointing as your experience is important to us. We will always endeavour to meet every request, however, we can only do this if they are communicated to our Team. We thank you for your custom and take this opportunity to wish you a lovely May Bank Holiday weekend. Take care.

Stayed at end of September for 2 nights B&B and had dinner in the bar both nights. Room was perfect, recently decorated and spotless. Food in restaurant was very good though very busy. Hard to know what to do as we prefer the buzz in the bar but we were unable to reserve a seat though when the manager recognised us as staying guests, she got us the next available seat. Waiting staff are very efficient as are the bar staff. Breakfast was lovely too. Wexford is a great place to visit. We’re looking forward to our next trip already 😊
We returned in November for a three night stay. Again, everything was top notch as regards friendliness and cleanliness. Hopefully all the bedrooms will be getting a makeover as the one we stayed in November wasn’t as pretty as September. As we had 3 opportunities for breakfast and one being a Monday, we had a chance to talk to Alan who is the most helpful and friendliest breakfast staff member we have met. Whitford House is lucky to have such great staff though to be fair they must be good employers as the staff have been there for years. Well done all on a well run hotel.

Just returned from a 2 night mid-week break in a superior room at this hotel. Upon arrival, we were impressed with the reception staff and the seating area, very inviting and comfortable. We had lunch in the bar/bistro while awaiting our room and were bowled over by how busy the place was. Food was excellent and staff very efficient, so that explains the crowd! Our superior room was large and generously proportioned. The bed was very comfortable and the room facilities were excellent. We visited the leisure centre and were very impressed by the cleanliness and the range of facilities available from the pool to the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi etc. That evening we had dinner in the bistro and the waiter, John, looked after our every need and request and was so obliging, food was great. Highlight was breakfast the following day, after the cold buffet selection, we were treated to waiter service made to order full Irish breakfast, absolutely delicious, great quality ingredients and topped off with great service from the waitress, Aoife. She is a credit to the hotel as are all the staff. The hotel is a little gem in Wexford and a definite return visit is on the cards. (Note to hotel maintenance: the glass topper on the cabinets in the bedroom should have rubber gromit to secure the glass in place. Just a safety suggestion). A great hotel in a great town.
