The Talbot Hotel Wexford receives a mixed bag of feedback. While many guests commend the hotel for its central location and inviting atmosphere, complete with live music and tasteful decorations, opinions on value and room quality vary. Some travelers regard it as a good value with comfortable, clean rooms, while others find the rooms small or dated and the service occasionally slow.
The amenities, including dining options and a pool, are generally appreciated, yet there's a call for certain areas to be updated. Cleanliness is a strong point, though parking is noted as a challenge.

Detailed Reviews
A short business trip - just one night.
The check-in was very easy and welcoming. The lobby and public areas are quite grand and great to walk into on a cold wintery evening.
Parking can be a bit of an issue - given the location it is what it is.
The room was very nice if small. It felt like a cosy box.
Wifi was easy to connect to and quick (in the room - cannot comment on how quick and reliable it was in the public areas).
The gym is good - a well-equipped gym, fitness room, and small pool. There are plenty of free weights, CV machines, weight-machines etc., plus changing rooms (its a publicly open leisure centre). They do fitness classes - but it would be a good idea to publicize it with an information sheet in the rooms - I turned up too late for the class, but could easily have gone in earlier and done my work later had I but known.
Buffet breakfast was very comprehensive.
All things considered - I'd be very happy to stay here every time I was in Wexford.

Great to be back again - 10 out of 10. Warm welcome on arrival,
Restaurant staff were above and beyond each day, we stayed for 3 nights (6 visits to the restaurant) we were greeted with a warmth that is so hard to find these days and our needs attended to with professionalism. Food selection and presentation was excellent.
Room, which had a great view of the river estuary, was well presented with housekeeping staff attention daily. A big thank you to all.
The venue is well centred to carry out visits to the 1798 museum in Enniscorthy, Enniscorthy Castle and Vinegar Hill.
TIP 1. both the Museum and Castle are "mature and disability person friendly with lifts to all floor available[including the castle roof].
Tip 2. you can get a discount entry fee to both venues if you talk to the friendly reception staff. You can leave your car at the museum and walk down to the castle in less than 10 minutes.
There is a lovely old Church of Ireland just near the Castle "St. Marys" open to the public worth a visit.
Vinegar hill is also "Mature and Disability person" friendly - from the car park to the top of the hill.
Hope you find this helpful

Stayed in the Talbot this August on our family traditional trip.
We have been doing a family trip the Talbot for 20+ years, the trips have seen our kids grow from toddlers to drinking in the bar, our parents grow older and things changing quickly, this was out first time to stay in a couple of years for one reason or another and we were pleasantly surprised by the various renovations that had taken place to the rooms, bathrooms etc. We had three rooms booked for 6 adults and all the rooms where great, some smaller than others but that is to be expected. The hotel is ideally located close to everything and wonderful sea views available. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious and lunch in the bar is highly recommended (across all of use we tried most things from the menu and carvery - all where delicious)
Rooms were spotless, cleaned each day. Pool was excellent with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Gym is well equipped and perfect for keeping fit while travelling.
Special mention and thanks to Iva on Reception, our booking came through mixed up as 3 twin rooms but she was fantastic and sorted it out without any hassle, giving us constant updates and went above and beyond. Thank you

The Talbot is well located on the sea front about a kilometre from the train station. Nice lobby, nice bar and friendly restaurant, sometimes with live music. But the bedroom décor, in trendy shades of grey and black, is exactly what I'd expect from a prison cell and does nothing to brighten the matching weather. It was great to get a full bath but less great to find the water barely lukewarm on 2 of my 3 days: when enquired it was explained that there was a boiler problem due to the hotel being full, as if this made it okay. It wasn't okay and eventually I was given a small begrudging deduction from my bill, but I'd much rather have had proper hot water. Apart from this, and the grim décor, the room was comfortable, as well it might be at €225 per night. Apologies to the lovely young barman who rustled me up a cold snack when hot food was no longer available; by the time I was leaving and wanted to tip him, he'd gone off duty. Sorry about that.

Stayed in this hotel 1st Nov.
Booked an acceptable room for disabled guests.
When we arrived couldn't use bathroom as the floor was very slippy and dangerous to walk on . All reception could offer was to put towels all over the floor which was an eyesore and couldn't close door for privacy. Shower area was good for person with disabilities but absolutely no thought was put in place for toiled area . No raised toilet . No grab rails to assist . Only thing was a horosantel bar on wall which was completely useless for people who have problems rasing from toilet . Had to be assisted . Toilet in bar has proper grasp rails so can't see why couldn't be installed in adapted room . Quilt cover on bed was far too large for Quilt so was hanging everywhere . Can't see how that wasn't noticed when putting on cover .
Check in at 11.30pm and receptionist was efficent and cold. No smile or warm greeting . There was music blaring from a wedding I think and people chatting which we could hear in our room .
Could not and would not stay here again ☹

Booked via a third party staying on a bed and breakfast basis.
The room was clean and very comfortable. Located on the 4th floor with a sea view, we were able to leave the window open as there was very little noise from the street.
All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was buffet style the time of which we had selected before travelling .There was plenty to choose from. Can recommend the fresh fruit salad, granola, natural yoghurt and fruit compote followed by bacon, sausage, hash brown and choice of fried egg or scrambled. Other hot selections included black, white pudding and grilled tomatoes. We found that the breakfast was an acceptable temperature.
We were able to select tea, coffee and toast from the waiting staff on arrival at the table cold drinks were available at the buffet.
We visited the bar on Saturday evening where there was plenty of seating. A wonderful 2 piece band were playing/singing a great selection of songs which made for a wonderful atmosphere.
I cannot comment on the leisure facilities as we did not use during our stay.
There are two car parks available for guests at no extra charge (the hotel provide a stamped card to be placed inside the car)- one across the road and one adjacent to the hotel. There is however access to an overflow car park a short distance from the hotel.
The hotel is in a fantastic location less than 5 minutes to the main shopping street where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to visit.
We will definitely make a return visit and can highly recommend.

Well as usual the Talbot didn't let me down. Seamless service from staff who obviously care about their job and do it with a smile. The servicing of the room was done by 11 so an elderly couple didn't have to stay out all day. What really impressed me was the arrival of guests with learning disabilities and their treatment being just the same as everyone else. I worked in learning disability for most of my working life and to get a hotel that is so accepting is extremely rare. I have to take my hat off to their carers as they were amazing. Please pass on my congratulations to the managers of whichever organisation they work for as they should be very proud of their staff. My grandson died aged 9 and he was learning disabled as well as having cerebral palsy and epilepsy so I know how hard it is to get the right hotel where you feel comfortable. With regard to disability I have friends who would love to travel over to Ireland but they have very specific needs such as profiling beds, hoists and shower trollies, can you supply such things because if you can I would try to get them to travel to Ireland because you are so close to the ferry.

Recently spent a weekend overnight with siblings. We had a dinner table for the 10 of us. Had full dinner and drinks. 3 of the party were sickly afterwards.
Next morning we were presented with a buffet breakfast. An observation would assume that the food had been prepared hours earlier. Dried out sausages. Dried out bacon fried eggs that were nearly impossible to cut into dried out black and white pudding. One of our party who didn’t like the taste of the supplied pot of coffee requested an Americano which he got but when he requested one for his wife was told there would be an additional charge.
The bedrooms were small with a small double bed. We had no air conditioning and as it was a very warm day and night were forced to leave open the window which fronted onto a busy main road.
At checkout my sister complained to a lady manager who was too busy to deal with the complaint and was to ring her back in the afternoon when not so busy. She’s still waiting for the call. She rang the hotel a few days later as a follow up and was told that the lady would ring her back. Again no callback.
With the cost of €230 per night I feel really let down and ripped off.

We chose this hotel as it had good reviews and a spa but we were really disappointed and it spoilt what should have been a pleasant weekend break.
We arrived on a Friday evening and were told immediately that we would have to have breakfast at 8.30am the following morning as no other slots were available. (We had not been told prior to this that breakfast had to be booked.) Our room was small, at the back of the hotel and clean but quite dated - especially the bathroom. We then went down to try to use the swimming pool to be told that it was not available until 7pm as there were private swimming lessons until then - there wasn’t even a roped off lane available for hotel guests. When I tried to get changed in the women’s changing room to use the hot tub there was no room as the changing room was full of mothers sitting, waiting for their children to finish lessons. To add insult to injury, we were told that the pool was not available until 3pm on Saturdays as there are private lessons.
The hotel seemed to be packed to capacity with what looked like hen and stag weekends and some sort of conference. The outside entrance to the hotel was full of smokers and it was necessary to literally fight through them day and night to get into the hotel. There also seemed to be lots of people standing by reception drinking as all the seats had been used up in the bar. Thankfully our room was at the end of a corridor and quite quiet but I doubt if we would have been able to sleep elsewhere in the hotel with the hens, stags and conference people kicking up a racket.
On the positive side the staff were polite and friendly but I felt sorry for the woman serving coffees near the breakfast room as she was run off her feet and some of the customers were not being too polite. The self service breakfast was good and the highlight of our stay.

This was a wonderful anniversary celebrated with the Talbot Hotel and its wonderful staff. From the efficient and very pleasant reception team through to room preparation where our suite was adorned with a plate of delicious treats with congratulations, through to the very tasty bottle of vino. A delightful experience. This was followed by a very generous and varied breakfast followed by a relaxing trip down to the quiet welcoming spa where we relaxed for ages.
We will be returning to the Talbot Hotel very soon to what was a quality and good value experience end to end.

Only the hotel would be best to answer that. I did not use the bar.
Not sure what the question is but will be happy to assist if possible. 😀
Hi SheenaghC
Thank you for your message. You are in for a treat - our River Suite is just fabulous! The jacuzzi bath is bigger than a standard bath and is an oval shape. If there is anything else I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards
Robert Millar
