I visited Carne holiday park and thought I would try some Fish and Chips from the chipper they were busy at the time and had put a note on the window temporary closed A young girl lent our of the window shouted we will be open in twenty minutes so they could catch up with the backlog of orders fare dues I thought, after about thirty minutes I got to the window and ask for two pieces of fish and a portion of chips only to be told no fish !!! a fish and chip shop with no fish it would not have hurt to put a notice up sorry no fish but we all stood there and like myself waiting for a meal of fish and chips this is very poor food management considering most fish arrive frozen. so it's not like keeping fresh fish, so keeping a good stock should not be a problem on a final note I find the whole issue gross mismanaged someone should take responsibility for stock control consequently I will not be visiting again…
We rented a house in Carne for a summer week in 2018, again in 2019 and now for 2 weeks in 2020.sandy beaches, safe swimming, great coastal walks, fishing and great local restaurants.A piece of holiday heaven.

We wanted a site for our first night off the ferry as we had driven a long way already and it would be getting late; we chose this one for the convenience. They wouldn't take an advance booking but assured us they never turned people away, telling my wife they wouldn't leave us stuck. When I saw a website that stated they were fully booked out, I phoned again I was also told "We won't leave you stuck." disputing a previous trip advisor review and the website..... When we arrived though, our reception was rather different. They were full up and had no space for us, coldly explaining they had turned four people away already that day! Astonishingly I was offered a leaflet advertising another site. I demanded to know why they told me they would always have a place for people off the ferry and had given me such an unequivocal verbal guarantee. It seems you need to have the argument to be allowed in. I wish I had taken the leaflet! The pitch we were directed to was miles away through what seemed to be a third world township. When we finally arrived the field was not marked out into pitches and the place we had been shown on the plan didn't even exist - there was hardly space for our small camper - and no hookup which they had taken the money for. The field seemed to be run on a system of friendly anarchy, seemingly beyond the reach of the management, and some lads in a camper found us a narrow space with a hookup squeezed between a couple of caravans at the far side of the field. We found a toilet/shower block that was not listed on their plan. Thank goodness, as the one we were told about defies description. The one we discovered was quite new but very poorly cleaned. What really worried me was the callous disregard for health and safety. Outside this block, high voltage cables snaked through the grass on a dirt bank to a distribution board hidden under an upturned plastic dustbin. A heating oil tank was balanced in a couple of breeze blocks in clear contravention to the H&S label stuck onto it while a leaky junction led to a pipe that ran along the shaley gravel surface used as a car park. All in all, we were glad to leave and changed our plan to return before our homeward ferry. This was not a good experience with which to begin our much looked-forward-to Irish holiday.…
I love carne but the campsite is dated and and shabby with very little for kids to do. The only playground is in very serious need of an upgrade as the swing seats were falling apart and the chains were rusty, and the touring campsite is very far away from the office, pub and shop. The walk to the campsite toilets is very dark at night as there are no lights and it is very isolated from the rest of the park. To drive through this enormous site with a caravan is a nightmare 1) because the roads are so small and 2) the ramps are ridiculously harsh and 3 pot holes are huge!!. The really annoying thing about this, is that there is an entrance with a barrier to the campsite that would make it so much more accessible if only you were allowed to use it.
I found the site to be excellent we have been over from the UK. very convenient location and plenty of places around the site to visit. site was well looked after and very clean. would defiantly recommend. Short walk to the beach is always great.
I stayed here enrolee to the UK via Rosslare and it was simply a convenient stop-over before I got the morning ferry. The staff were very friendly and the camp site seems to have lots of facilities including a pub which I thought I would go and have a pint in until I started to drive to my pitch...and drive....and drive..... It was so far away I decided I wouldn't risk getting lost and instead I had a glass of wine and bedded down for the night. Shower block was fantastic with free hot water and overall I would judge this a good campsite if you like BIG.
First of all we are used to and prefer smaller intimate sites. Had I realised this was as big we wouldn't have stayed. You can't book to stay so I rang the day before to see if it was busy. We were told it was but there'd be room tomorrow for us. When we arrived the next day a nice lady said that they were full. After a bit of talking she said she'd get us in. They consists of a lot of resident static mobiles, some of which are kept beautiful, others not so much. You have to drive through the residents to get to the touring pitches which is in the back fields. The pitches are reasonable with electric hook up but no water supply. You don't have to walk far to get water but there are very few waste water points chemical waste points. The park for the children (which is situated in the residence part) is very poor, not what I would call a play park. In my opinion, the touring site needs separate facilities and updated. There needs to be more focus on this area. Also when I handed my key back for my deposit when we checked out, the staff never spoke a word to me. Not even how was your stay. I won't be back. …
