Good location, a few minutes' walk from the town centre. My single room was quite spacious and had a river view (just about!). Plenty of off-street parking. Bedding smelled fresh. Bed itself was decent. Good cooked breakfast at a reasonable price. Friendly service. Room needed a refurb: peeling and stained paper on the ceiling, carpet well past its best, thin curtains and one of the windows didn't latch properly. Average cleanliness. Some quite thick dust in the room. There was a very visible long hair in the shower and the toilet seat hadn't been cleaned properly. Ancient shower, from the 1980s possibly. I haven't seen one like that for years! The dial was very stiff and when I finally got it to work there was very little water pressure. Considering it's well away from the main roads, there was quite a lot of traffic noise from early in the morning.…

Portree House was a real find! The staff couldn't have been more helpful. There was a great community vibe to the place. Our rooms were big, airy and spotlessly clean, even if the décor was a little dated. The shared amenities were fantastic, and to have access to a garden in the centre of the city was an extra bonus. The breakfast was really tasty and great value. The girl managing the kitchen was so nice, and even though she was very busy, she served a very nice bowl of porridge on request. The breakfast was great value. Portree is right in the centre of things, and 5 mins cycle to the greenway. I'd recommend it for couples, groups of friends and families alike.

Very friendly and helpful staff, close to town center and ideally situated when traveling by bus as it is only three minutes away from the main bus station. The breakfast is wonderful. The room we were in had a TV and a really really cozy shower.

A great location for walking round the city. Having a parking space is good, but it can not be guaranteed and so I always got back early from my days out to get a spot. The rooms are a bit basic but I didnt mind as I was spending most of the time elsewhere. The breakfast whilst decent quality really was a very small portion that required me to buy a second breakfast elsewhere each day

We stayed four nights with a group of 10 girls and it was a success. It was like being at home away from home. The staff was charming and helpful at all times. The garden is a plus to be taken into account. The breakfasts were delicious. If you go to Waterford this is the place to stay.

Portree Guesthouse was a fun place to meet young people like myself….that love to travel to new places…I loved going to the nearby nightlife, which was 5 minutes from where we were staying…it reminded me of the Temple Bar area of Dublin…but not as expensive as Temple Bar pubs…and the choice of inexpensive places to eat nearby was great too! We loved visiting Reginald’s Tower…and the other historical sites which again wasn’t far to walk from the Portree, and the Portree had a great Vegan breakfast which I loved…would love to come back again! The Staff was cool dudes! Zieve B

Very warm welcome and so helpful. My first time staying in a hostel b&b and I loved it! Having a lovely big kitchen to sit in and have tea/coffee - with friends I've known for many years. Rooms are basic but bed were comfortable and bedding/towels were immaculate Loved it.

From the great communication, friendly welcome, spotless comfortable room there really is nothing I can say negative about this guesthouse... It is certainly better than the official two star rating and I am so glad I did not let this put me off staying at this hotel with an almost perfect location in Waterford.... You really will not be disappointed if you book and I would recommend it to anyone who comes to the area....
