We really feel after our stay that Traceys Hotel Waterford really needs a refurbishment as it is very dark and needs to be brightened up and up dated . Also more bar staff needed on busy nights .Thanks

Quick overnight stop in Waterford on our way to Ring of Kerry The hotel was very friendly and welcoming. Good home cooked food for dinner in the bar A good breakfast too, a bit busy and only one coffee machine leading to a long queue, but everyone very friendly and helpful Easy car parking on quay in front of hotel

It’s a late review but felt really needed to highlight a few points. Four of us stayed at Treacys Hotel in Waterford on 6th Aug for a weekend. When we arrived we were greeted by reception who were friendly and check in was really swift, which was great. After travelling since early hours, we put our bags in room and went down to the bar area to grab a bite to eat and catch up with friends. The bar staff were a little unfriendly, it could have been that they were tired or understaffed but even so, needs reviewing as they are the face of the bar area at Treacys. Hen party then arrived early afternoon and completely took over the bar area with high screaming and throwing a rugby ball back and forth while customers were trying to eat. The only time the manager approached to try and quieten them was when one of the party stood on a chair screaming. We understand it was a hen party but surely other customers should have been thought of as they have also paid and were trying to eat and have a conversation. In the end we decided to leave as could see nothing was being done to control the hen party and went up to our rooms. My sister then called down to reception to ask for a menu to place order for food to be delivered to her room as there was no menu available in her room. She was advised there would be a charge to deliver the menu, which was absolutely ridiculous so she asked over the phone what was on the menu briefly and opted for toasted sandwich x 2 as she was hungry as left the bar earlier without eating. She was then told that she would have to pay a delivery charge twice as there were 2 sandwiches and would take 2 members of staff away from their duty to deliver to her room. She argued her point that it’s just 2 sandwiches but for one person but in the end accepted delivery and spoke directly to someone the next day in reception who agreed and apologised and did not charge. The bath area could really do with grab rails for safety and the hotel decor is in desperately need of updating. Positives: The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast staff were really hard working, they always smiled and greet customers and nothing was too much trouble which was great. The hotel location is great.…

Decent hotel. Rooms need maintenance and updating, but river views were stunning! Breakfast was reasonable and delicious. Was surprised that the dinner needed a reservation. We would have reserved in advance if it was mentioned during booking.

At the time of our stay the outside daytime temp was 25* C with the full sun on the back of the building from noon onwards. A black flat roof outside our window attracted the heat and amplified it and any breeze that there was brought the extra heat into the room. Even with the door open into the hallway there was little cooling effect although a fan had been provided. Painting the black rook white / silver would reflect the heat from the roof and applying reflective foil to the window would help reduce the effect of heat ingress. The management can't control the weather but when heat like what we experienced arrives the room we were in should not be used unless the above suggestions have been implemented.

Lovely old hotel but very basic bedroom/bathroom set up. No AC, face cloths, shampoo/conditioner in room. As part of a Trafalger tour, dinner was included. Dinner service and staffing were poor. Only one bar tender was available for a lot of the dinner service, not enough staff for three bus loads of patrons. Food was ok but quite bland. Dessert was part of the menu but was kept ‘controlled ‘ and patrons were only allowed to access it when staff decided. One male staff who it appeared was very overwhelmed, was quite rude and curt to patrons. The food and beverage manager was made aware of the staff’s attitude. Door chain slide lock was broken and bathroom door lock was too.

The first room did not feel too secure. The door jamb looked as though it had been gouged out. There was a sliding lock on the door but I didn't feel 100% safe as a solo femaie. The second room was much better and had a bathtub. I was not advised that there would be six stairs and a challenging time to locate the room. It was in Block B. Staff did not seem to think it was a big deal to have to carry one's luggage up & down stairs.

We stayed with a full coach party travelling from Scotland with Caledonian Travel. Having previously read negative reviews we were apprehensive about our stay but were pleasantly surprised with the well organised staff and general informal and friendly atmosphere. Thankfully we didn't have to join a long queue to check in as room keys were waiting on the reception desk. Our room was located on the 2nd floor at front of building and was perfectly acceptable with comfortable bed and pillows and a bright bathroom. Towels were of a good quality and changed every day. An iron and ironing board, hairdryer and safe were provided. The safe was placed at floor level and would have been better placed on an upper shelf to make access easier. Overall we were happy with the cleanliness and comfort of our room. Breakfast offered a selection of cereals, fruit salad and fruits of the forest mix, yogurt, fruit juice and full cooked option. Toast was pre made to avoid queues at toaster and there was plenty available. Dinner menu changed each evening and offered three options for starters, mains and desserts. Apart from the first evening, a Dessert Buffet was offered and consisted of slices of gateau, cheesecake and fruit salad. Another two coach parties arrived on the following evenings and timings for each was very well organised with staff working very hard to get food to tables. We went to the bar on the first evening and enjoyed the entertainment. Staff behind the bar were friendly and efficient. On the evenings where three coach parties had to be accommodated, comments were made regarding long wait for drinks at the bar. We didn't experience this as we went out each evening to a small local bar a few doors along from the hotel and listened to live entertainment each evening. We have been on coach tours before and have found then all to be a mixed bag in terms of accommodation and meals. On some we've found the meals disappointing and uncomfortable, dull rooms with lack of facilities. Overall we were very happy with our stay at Treacy's Waterford. Well done to mangement and staff for making our stay a pleasant one and giving us all a big Irish welcome.…
