Dooley's Hotel Waterford is often celebrated for its welcoming atmosphere and festive spirit, especially among rugby enthusiasts. The hotel's prime location garners praise for its accessibility to dining, shopping, and historical landmarks. Guests have called out the exceptionally clean rooms and modern amenities, along with the comfortable beds that contribute to a restful stay.

Detailed Reviews
My friend and I checked into Dooley's hotel on Saturday 11th July for 2 nights b&b and 1 dinner. From our first impression on checking in till we left this morning everything was excellent. In these difficult times the staff went out of their way to make sure everyone was safe and comfortable. There was evidence everywhere of constant cleaning and disinfecting staff were wearing PPE. The rooms are spotlessly clean as are the common areas with hand sanitizers in evidence all over the hotel at lifts and all entrances. This is a great hotel with a lovely warm atmosphere and the staff are amazing. A special mention to Jonas and Andrea in the bar they were both consummate professionals who are excellent at their job putting everyone at ease and carrying out the duties so well while still taking time to chat and share pleasantries with the customer. I would recommend Dooley's to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet breakaway with good food in comfortable surroundings

I really can't recommend Dooleys enough. Fantastic hotel, perfect location for the city and a quick drive to activities and sites nearby and parking right across the road is very handy.
What stands out for me the most is the incredible staff. Proper hospitality staff who have wonderful personalities, are great with the kids and always go above and beyond. My 1 year old suffers with food allergies and the waiting staff didn't just double check everything but remembered when we came down to eat on other occasions. The chef also cooked his food separately to make sure there's no cross contamination.
The staff are a credit to Dooleys especially Viktoria who is brilliant at her job. We'd return in a heartbeat.

If you are staying in Waterford I highly recommend this hotel. I booked it for a stag weekend in early July 2021 and it surpassed all expectations. From the start of the booking process to leaving the hotel at the end of the weekend the staff were so helpful, friendly and attentive. They even opened up the function room and put in a spacious table & seating arrangement so we could watch the football while observing COVID-19 protocols, really terrific service all around. I recommend the breakfast, Waterford Blaas are amazing! Dinner was good too but if you fancy something different no problem as there are loads of options within a short walking distance as the location is amazing. We did the Waterford to Dungarvan Greenway cycle as our activity and the bike hire shop is literally just around the corner from the hotel and the start of the greenway is on the same road, around 2km up the quays, so location wise you won't get much better. When visiting Waterford again I will book into Dooley's without hesitation, 5 stars for me!

I made the booking at dooleys a few days before arriving, when we got there we were not asked to produce a vaccine cert, my partner is vaccinated, but I'm not so I had specifically requested outdoor dining, after a girl in the bar tried to seat us in the hotel restaurant I told her I had requested outdoor dining. She brought us outside where there was no seats available, I had mentioned to the girl serving us I did not want a high table as I'm 5 months pregnant, the bar manager clearly didn't listen to that information and started to move other diners back inside to seat us at a high table, after I mentioned it a second time I didn't want a high table she proceeded to move 2 other people indoor so we could sit at their table. Finally we got a table and ordered the steak, I asked for well done and my partner asked for medium and they both arrived cooked the same, just for main and 4 drinks it was €80, I could have got far better elsewhere....the service was ok, staff were friendly and helpful as could be but one server did drop a full pint of beer beside the table bringing us the drinks, we were seated right beside the area where indoor diners come out to smoke. After this fiasco of an experience I won't be back any time soon.

We recently had a small "Surprise 40th Birthday" gathering & a nights stay at Dooley's. We could not speak highly enough of all the staff at Dooley's, from start to finish. They communicated everything clearly in relation to holding a small function in these Covid times, in order to keep everyone safe. They made sure we & our small number of guests were well looked after & made feel very comfortable throughout the evening. The menu catered for all & all agreed the meal was delicious (Compliments to the Chef!!). The rooms were ideal, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, clean & very well laid out. A huge thank you to Coleen, for all your help & patience (told you it would work!!!) & also to Loic, Hanna, Johannes, Tom & all the other staff who made this the most enjoyable & memorable day. THANK YOU EVERYONE @ DOOLEY'S!!!

I hired a room to hold my Slimming World groups for the last 3 weeks as my original venue was unavailable. I contacted Colleen who is the operations manager and she was amazing! My room was set up to meet all Covid-19 regulations, nothing was too much trouble! A separate entrance was provided to allow the members get in and out safely.
At all times the staff were professional and kind. The reception staff are amazing and their knowledge of not just the family owned hotel but Waterford is second to none.
Leanne was training some members of staff and her knowledge of the kirwan room, why it was named and the building itself was great local knowledge we all should know.
I was made feel like home and my members were treated the same. The function room is so spacious, clean and beautifully decorated.
I didn't get all the staff members names but each one you meet are fantastic. The breakfast is sensational and I'll definitely be going back for dinner when we can.
Thanks so much for making me so welcome.

Wonderful welcome at the door, receptionist went out of her way to make sure I was settled, comfortable and happy with my room location.
Room itself was very clean and tidy, and the Queen size bed unbelievably comfortable, slept like a baby all six nights.
You can book with inclusive breakfast or not, obviously there is a price difference, but the breakfast food, from Continental to traditional full Irish fry up is exceptional.
Later meals, Main Courses, also very tasty, I tried Fish and chunky chips, and the meal I fell in love with, Slow cooked Beef and Guinness Stew, Unbelievable!
The staff, from reception, to the cleaners to the bar staff and management were all friendly, helpful and generally went out of their way to do anything they could to make my stay as enjoyable as possible.
Highly recommended, and I'm back again for another 6 days in early May, can't wait! 👌🏻

Had a wonderful meal in the outdoor area today which is very modern and vibrant. It was a a rainy day and were able to enjoy our meal rain free as there is a gazebo like roof overhead stopping all rain coming in. The food was wonderful and very fast. Our servers Shauna Caoimhe and Chloe were second to none. They ensured our dietary requirements were met and answered all queries that we had. My only criticism is that the area is not heated so did become quite cold. Will be back again

We arrived early and were met with a smile by the receptionist he said our room was ready and away we went. The room was nice with a "real" duvet according to my wife and a very comfortable bed. Dinner in the bar was served by Victoria and Jonas and nothing was a hassle, the starter wasn't to my wife's taste and she was offered a replacement (I thought it was lovely). Jonas went out of his way to make sure our meal was lovely without being obstrusive, Victoria was ever smiling and attentive to all of the customers. These two staff members really made sure everyone felt special and welcome. Due to Covid the usual buffet was not in operation but it may as well have been as the staff made sure we could have anything we wanted. Colleen the manager on duty was ever attentive and had a smile for everyone.
This is a family run hotel and it shows as you feel like you are coming home. We will definitely be back this year.

We stayed at the Dooley’s Hotel during a tour of Ireland. Everyone from the front desk, restaurant, and housekeeping staff was helpful and courteous. This hotel is family owned and the family we dealt with were so accommodating to ensure our visit was perfect. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was delicious. Everyone in our group agreed how much they enjoyed the food. You can’t go wrong staying here!

Waterford, Ireland, can be pretty cold and wet in February, with an average temperature of around 6°C (43°F) and approximately 16 rainy days throughout the month. With this in mind, I recommend packing warm and waterproof clothing, such as a thick jacket, scarves, gloves, and waterproof boots or shoes. Bringing an umbrella or raincoat might also be a good idea.
In terms of places to visit for a meal, Waterford has some great options. Dooley’s hotel has a long tradition of good food and provides a range of dining options from early morning to late evening.
Our menus combine local and International influences, including local Irish succulent steaks and fresh seafood from the trawlers of Dunmore East. We have ensured a strong emphasis on locally sourced produce. Dooley’s Hotel is a popular choice for dining in Waterford with visitors and locals alike. Family occasions are very important to the hotel, been a third-generation family-owned and managed hotel.
Our various dining options can be enjoyed in the surroundings of our elegant New Ship Restaurant or Traditional Dry Dock Bar. After an enjoyable day, why not relax with a nightcap in the Paddy Kirwan room located off the Dry Dock Bar.
If you're looking to shop in Waterford, the City Square Shopping Centre is a popular option, Dooley's Hotel is a 4 minute walk from the shopping centre.
I hope you found this information helpful. Enjoy your trip to Waterford!
