We stayed at the Travelodge in Waterford because it was the cheapest we could find for a 3-5 night stay within a two hour radius. The cons: the carpet was pretty, most of the hotel was hot, our room was positioned about the smoker’s patio, so the smoke would make its way into our room. All of that could have been tolerable had this room not been so blazing hot. We had the “three single bed” room facing the Sun. We kept the windows open to let the breeze in and the front desk did us a fan. Past reviews complained of the same issue involving this room. The pros: Staff was friendly, they did let us borrow the fan, the price was reasonable, they allowed us to check out early with a refund from the third part booking agent, and they went back and searched the room for our missing passport. Beds were comfy, took
If the room had not been so terribly hot, this would have been the exact stay we needed. 3/5 mostly due to friendly staff!

It's not the Ritz not does it profess to be, so if you want opulence go elsewhere.
What it does offer is great customer service, spotlessly clean bed, piping hot water, tea making facilities in room and anything else you can pick up from reception. Very affordable option without breaking the bank.

I had the misfortune to stay here on 10th and 11th Feb 2020. i would recommend that this hotel is avoided at all costs. I joined Trip Advisor just to give others the heads-up on this shamble of a place.
First impressions were a musty and unclean smell. I would not give it any stars if there was an option. I stayed in room 6 and will outline some of the issues with this place:
Bathroom
• Coving were coming away from the walls
• Flooring was filthy
• The brackets for the soap dispensers for the basin and shower had been broken, so the soap was in tubes on the side
• The towels were so old and thin that drying after a shower was difficult
• The bath had been damaged a was crudely repaired with a cheap colored filler
Bedroom
• The room was set for a family. They obviously couldn’t be bothered with setting for a single person
• The quilt was enormous, tucked in at the bottom and not set into the cover, so was uncomfortable.
• The mattress had springs protruding out of the side
• The mattress was larger than the bed frame
• The kettle and drinks tray was filthy and old
• The carpet had dirt (probable form shoes or boots), when I arrived and was not vacuumed for my stay
Catering
• There are no on-site facilities, but there is some sort of arrangement with a hot-dog diner at the far end of the building.
• I tried a burger in there for my first night but didn’t return the following evening as the food was terrible.
• The following night I went to Lidl and got some cheese and ham and eat it in my dirty room.
• I had paid for breakfast the, so gave it a try the next morning. The bacon was burned and the eggs over cooked and hard. I didn’t bother going back the following day despite having paid in advance.
Location
• After a long day travelling and working, I was looking forward to a nice pint or two. The were no licensed premises for miles and there were signs that no alcohol was to be brought into the hotel, so I couldn’t even get a couple of cans.
On the positive side, the car park was fine.

Staying back in the Travelodge in Waterford was like coming home again. The General Manager Connor is the leading light in this shining team of staff.
What is there not to like at this hotel. It is a reasonable price, excellent parking is free, super fast broadband is free, toiletries of the highest standard are free. A double and a single bed in the large room, large bathroom with shower and a bath as standard. The hotel is spotless, if you need anything extra just ask and they will accommodate you.
I can’t see why anyone would want to complain, it is not the Ritz class hotels, you should realise that when you see the price. Foe convenience, staff, cleanliness etc it is a class leader for the price.
Because of COV-ID there are a few restrictions such as cleaning your room etc. But this is not the hotel’s fault, blame that on China..
We are already planning when to return from the North for our next stay. As I have said seeing Connor again is like meeting an old friend again.

Was back again at the Travelodge in Waterford. We have to write a review about the hotel and the staff to showcase its excellent value for money.
It is not a five star hotel, nor does it try to be. What this hotel is an excellent value for money property. It is spotless, the rooms are large, the bathrooms are large, it has excellent free wi-fi, it has great parking facilities, free, it is in a prime location. There is a never ending flow of hot water. Each bathroom has a shower and a bath. The staff are superb. It is not the hotels fault that there are limitations on cleaning the rooms. Blame all that on the Chinese.
Connor, the GM, is a master of his profession and will do his best to help you out. Value for money this hotel is unbeatable.
I work in a hotel that charges up to £2,500 per night, I know what luxurious is all about. Not everyone has that budget. For a quick break away and being dog friendly we will be back again and again.

Dear brucelucie, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We really do genuinely appreciate when guests review our hotel and tell others of their experience in Travelodge ( be they good or bad - we always appreciate honesty ) and as always it was a pleasure having you both stay with us again .... as well as our four legged friend too !!! It is a real shame that Covid has impacted on people's holidays as much as it has over the last year and we always try to do our best to make sure things are as safe and as comfortable as possible for guests when they stay with us here in Waterford and i'm pleased to see that on this occasion we delivered. Hopefully it wont be too long until we see you all again. Regards, Con

Absolute nightmare for one night at the Travelodge Waterford. It's probably the only hotel in the world that doesn't have air conditioning, the room was extremely warm and very uncomfortable. But worse yet, there was a party going on in the car park which, combined with the noise from traffic and from the building itself and its paper-thin walls, meant that sleeping was impossible before 3am. We tried to ring reception twice about the party and nobody picked up. The whole situation was outrageous. Even without the heat and the noise, it would have been ridiculous to pay €140 to stay at a place that's no better than a hostel anyway. The building is falling apart, water pressure was very poor, room was old and dated with only a tiny TV and not much else. Disgusting smell of cigarettes, noise all night, unbearable heat, depressing location; truly and absolutely a disgrace and an outrage. I will be making a formal complaint to Travelodge.

STAY CLEAR
Stayed here recently and never again..the room was disgusting - mould on net curtains stained carpet, filthy windows mould/dirt on walls, stained ceiling . Dust on all furniture obvs weeks old and to top if off , it was extremely noisy with guests shouting, constant banging doors
Though the bed was clean and comfortable at €80 I was better staying in a hostel .
Convenient to town ,restaurants and the staff were pleasant
Really poor standard
