Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We are a fanily of 6. This was our first camping (we have an 8 man tent with awning) trip.
We had electricity. The shower cost 1e for 5mins. The washing machine and dryer cost 2e for 40mins. The campers kitchen was clean generally (except when other campers lazily left the remains of their meal stuck to the sink instead of cleaning sink after they washed up). There was a room to dispose of your chemical toilet material. The majority af the site is made up of camper vans and caravans. The site is safe for kids to roam around in. The village(3min walk from our tent) has everything and more than we needed. The sand dunes are very high and the kids got alot of entertainment going up and down those. There are lots of very busy surf school if you want you or your kids to get lessons. There was a playground 2mins from our tent. The lads in reception were sound and very helpful. I only remember one lads name(Mark). On every night it was quiet after 11pm or so(except one night when some adults decided to stay up a little later while sipping some happy juice).
All in all I'd definitely recommend this site. We climbed up to Queen Maeve's tomb and did lots of active things which was great.
The only drawback to this campsite is that no one can swim in the water as the currents are too dangerous.

I thought, after visiting this site for many years, first in a tent and then in a camper that I would find nothing new to say about it.
During these, very strange covid times, I have, due to health issues, been cocooning, leaving home very little. I decided to take a chance and take a break in my camper in the Strandhill site. I can honestly say I felt very safe and secure throughout the site. The toilets and showers were exceptionally clean with hand sanitizer and information signage evident in appropriate places. Masks worn in all indoor areas.
The staff are very friendly and helpful, they work hard to ensure the site is maintained to the usual high standard.
The site is family friendly and quiet after dark, it is located among the dunes in Strandhill, surrounded by amazing walks and convenient to pubs, restaurants, takeaways, supermarket and chemist. The local surf school is very popular.
I always say that this place is my bit of heaven on earth, this visit has certainly reinforced my viewpoint!!

This place is clean as in clean clean! There was no rubbish around the site, it was well cared for and bathrooms and facilities are secound to none in cleanliness. We were there over a three day weekend with the cold weather coming in for winter.

The facilities are very good and clean and we felt the price for everything was fine. Regarding the good state of the facilities.

The staff were extremely helpful and informative, with help of use of equipment, walking trails and maps, local hotspots and places to go and do. These guys are lovely to chat too and we very much appreciated all the info. The maintenance person and cleaning staff were friendly and professional and helpful.

There was no issues we could say that could be improved and the hospitality was 100%.

Each site constitutes a 16amp electrical plug in and a water tap.
A parking area of tarmac and a small grass area to separate pitches.

During covid issues SEP 2019 the staff spaced everyone out and was very diligent on have significant signage, alcohol gels and contact information for any reason. Good on you lads I couldn't say the same for other campsites on our travels But yours were out standing for a motorhome! Thanks for a great couple of days

"We'll be back"

I spent a very relaxing week a this campsite in my little yurt tent. Justin, Niall and team are very helpful and welcoming - I had no problems camping solo knowing that the camp grounds have night-time security. The new showers/toilets are spotless clean, the grounds are well maintained, with easy access to a handy waste and recycling facility. The location is just the business - with beautiful views of Knocknarea on one side (really worth the hike on a sunny morning), and a short dash to the sea waves on the other. Looking forward to my return!

When booking the site, the man I spoke to was really pleasant and helpful. When we arrived pretty late in the evening, we were shown where our pitch was and provided with lots of useful information.

The site itself was great. Seeing that we were in a camper with no onboard toilet, we were given a pitch close to the very clean and well appointed toilet block.

The site itself although busy wasn’t noisy and very close to the centre of Strandhill which has lots of great cafes and restaurants as well as the nearby weekly market.

Stayed here in our recently purchased caravan after years of staying here in our camper van. Always been a favourite of ours, it’s all about the location. A busy site ( covid regs were adhered to) and this time we had to pre book , in years gone by it was 1st come 1st served. Great facilities and clean. I tripped the electricity the 1st nite and couldn’t locate the fuse box to reset, so make sure you enquire at reception for its location. With the sun shining it is one of the best campsites around.

We are new to the world of caravans and Strandhill was our first big trip. We booked in for two weeks and we enjoyed our stay greatly. We found everyone on site very friendly, both guests and staff and the facilities are 5star and spotless. The beach was across the dunes and there are great places to walk locally. It’s a 2 Minute walk to local pub and restaurants and food locally is very good. The kids were gone from morning to night with new friends and overall the experience was brilliant. We were sorry to be leaving but will definitely return in the coming weeks and years. Well done to all involved in running and maintaining this site. It’s a credit to all involved.

Stayed in this campsite for 2 nights last month and it was very quiet and right beside Strandhill beach which was good! There is a path that you can walk down that will lead you right to the beach and town. The toilets and showers are recently refurbished and are nice and clean and they’re plenty of them. My only criticism is that the staff weren’t helpful when we arrived, they just pointed to where we had to pitch our tent on a cctv screen and didn’t show us were anything was - it wasn’t until we were checking out that we realised there was a laundry room!

Location beautiful, though very exposed to the elements.

Check in ,very informative and helpful.
Everywhere clean and well presented.
Good family atmosphere
Beach and shops, cafes etc close by
Local shop of gala, while stocks everything, is very expensive. Useful for the top up stuff, but come prepared. Lots of shops in sligo town, good butcher in the square , across from the tesco.

Camper kitchen here and has 2 stoves, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge freezer. Washer/dryers also on site and reasonably priced. Have euro coins with you, showersare also €1 for 5mins

Reception open from 9 to 9pm

Shells cafe amazing for coffee and croissants

We braved a very stormy, wet night and still loved it. But we love sligo. Will be back
