Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rooms were really nice and clean but it went downhill fast after this. We asked the Receptionist for a recommendation of a place to eat on the evening we arrived and after walking 10 minutes to the location we discovered it was closed. It would have been a decent touch if she had enquired on our behalf before sending us on this wasted journey. On arrival back at the hotel at 12.15 am we found the hotel to be locked and along with another couple we eventually gained entry after 15 minutes of ringing and banging on windows. On top of this the fire alarm went off at around 4am (which can happen)and just made a bad stay here worse. The breakfast was very average. Had been promised that the breakfast would be available at 7.30am and we had an early start so arrived at the dining room at 7.20 but the breakfast wasn’t ready and only just arrived when we had no choice but to leave it as it was 7.50am and we had to leave. The lady serving breakfast was not really pleasant at all and overall I would definitely not stay here again. The rooms are nice and newly renovated , Sligo is a really nice town but unfortunately the Sligo city hotel really needs to up its game when it comes to dealing with their paying customers.

This was the worst hotel, I can not understand the good reviews. Our room was not cleaned at all! The toilet seat was full of urine (see attached picture), after seeing this disgusting room we went downstairs to complain, and we were promised a new room in a few minutes and that we should wait in the hotel pub. After one hour wait we asked when we finally get a new room to get a rest after an exhausting day. Then suddently they said they will need another 1.5 hours for the new room (apparently a renovated one). When we got upset that the promised few minutes would be 2.5 hours we finally got keys for a new room. Let me tell you it was worse than the first one, so this left us thinking that cleaning is not top priority in that hotel.

Comfortable room. Friendly staff. Very bad food. Ate dinner on our first night there but left to go elsewhere for more as it was dry and tastless. Breakfast was awful. Went out for breakfast on the 2nd morning even though we paid for it in the hotel. Lovely hotel to stay in but just eat elsewhere

Stayed in Sligo City Hotel the last 2 nights and to our opinion the staff need a bit of training in hospitality. I cannot fault the girl who checked us in as she was lovely but unfortunately didn't see her again. The second receptionist we encountered wasn't a bit helpful. When we went to breakfast he rushed us to sit down somewhere and "a girl would be with us". No one explained to us how breakfast works and which in my opinion, may as well give the guest a wage as its the guest doing all the work. The only thing that was brought to us was a pot of tea. We had to tell "the girl" there was no plates, there was no sausages left. In our opinion also the food was terrible. When we brought this to the receptionist on duty, it really fell on deaf ears. He just didn't care. We stayed 2 nights and the second breakfast, we skipped. It also put us off eating dinner ehile we stayed. We are generally not ones to ever give out or complain but for the price of rooms for our stay it wasn't good enough. A lot of improvement is needed as we think this hotel has potential to do a lot better. Location was superb, the rooms were spacious and clean. There is a bit to improve there too but it was nothing to complain about.

Located is key, and this hotel, located next door to the Town Hall and a ‘stone throws’ from the centre, is just that! While the decor is a little dated, it is nonetheless clean, and well kept. The room was spacious, and a great view of town. Disappointingly the restaurant closed early, so no dinner, and breakfast was not inclosed with the room which I knew in advance, but would have been nice!

We stayed here for two nights, there's alot of refurbishment going on in the hotel, and we had one of the lovely newly refurbished rooms which was beautiful, however the restaurant was not open except for breakfast which was poor, the staff at the hotel were very friendly, but the hotel itself was so quiet nobody about it and no atmosphere, definitely not worth the money, but a great location

Got nervous upon arrival with guests complaining of room not being cleaned and bedding not changed. We ate in the restaurant and tried looking at champions league final. Food was extremely slow with the group waiting nearly an hour for Main course. The match on the TV was streamed to barmans phone who casted it to the tv. 255 euro b&b for the night was nowhere near value for money. Room over entrance with no air conditioning, and sleep hard to come by as the noise out on the street was present up to 3.30am and to make an uncomfortable night worse, at 6am a road sweeper woke us up. Don't think we'll be back again.
