Hmmmmm why….ok the house itself is fine, a bit soulless, room fine, clean comfortable, host, odd and not very welcoming, the deal breaker….breakfast, ok so wasn’t included in our price (thought it was a bed and breakfast) no problem I’m happy to pay, So the dining area is one really large table you share with other guests, slightly uncomfortable as I like my own space and not wanting to dine with strangers at the other end of the table, so I ask for coffee, out it comes, no asking would I like anything else, so I ask could I get some toast when you get a moment, he takes off to the kitchen, I hear a few muffled voices….returns says oh breakfast isn’t included in your room, that’s ok I’m happy to pay for it (my toast) and I’m told no that they’re wrapping up for breakfast now, it’s not even 10 am… It’s not a full Irish I’m after, it’s a slice of toast, I’m happy to pay for… anyhow Hospitality….or complete lack of

Absolutely beautiful house in large grounds with metal gates (which we were given a key for) and plenty of parking. We were met at the door by Gerry who gave us a tour of the house including the large TV room and we were told that we could play the grand piano if we wished or use the snooker table in the room beyond that. Our room was lovely and spotlessly clean and had a lovely view of the garden. The bed was large and comfy and the bedding good quality. The pillows were some of the comfiest we came across during our trip. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom and there were plenty of towels in our room. There were also tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The TV had Netflix available. After a long day of travelling and exploring and as it was a lovely sunny evening we decided to enjoy the beautiful gardens and sat under the gazebo and ate the sandwiches we’d bought earlier. Although the house is quite near to a busy road we didn’t really notice the traffic noise and at night it was very quiet and we slept very well. In the morning we had a lovely breakfast of granola and yoghurt followed by freshly made pancakes - other breakfasts were available including full Irish etc and were ordered the night before. This is a bed and breakfast so it is unfair to expect a restaurant serving evening meals or a bar which in our opinion would spoil the peace and tranquillity of Castledale. Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely return

We arrived in Sligo by train right after flying to Dublin from NYC and stayed two nights. For the price we paid, we could not ask for a better stay. Some highlights include an excellent, well-presented, multi-course breakfast, free and easy parking, a beautiful clean property (inside and out) with plenty of spaces to hang out outside of your room, strong water pressure/temperature, reliable internet, comfortable beds/pillows, and rooms that are dark and quiet at night. The host is also personable, helpful, and kind. I would recommend a stay here to anyone in the area. The only suggestions for improvement are perhaps including a small fridge in the room for drinks and maybe some nicer towels. A few notes that might be helpful to others: the property is a 10 Euro, fast taxi ride into town and finding a taxi is no trouble (the property has a radio button and there are obvious taxi ranks in Sligo; you can also use the FreeNow app to call an official taxi); like most properties in Ireland, you do not have an individual thermostat in your room, so make sure to have layers to sleep in - I was actually a bit warm at night, but I tend to sleep hot.

This castle mansion is absolutely amazing. We booked using our capital one points and didn’t really know what to expect. We were blown away when we got there. We wish we had booked breakfast in advance because it smelled and looked so good! Our host was very polite and welcoming, and gave us ideas of what to do in the area. If you get a chance to stay here - it’s well worth it!!

Castledale is a beautiful building and our Junior suite enormous and delightfully furnished. However it lacks atmosphere perhaps because it has no bar or restaurant. A pleasant stay but I would not rush to return.

This B&B guest house is set in its own grounds just off the main Sligo to Dublin/Galway road. Really easy to get to although some reviewers have posted otherwise. Follow the Sligo by-pass and travel a few miles out to the Carroroe off slip. Look for the R287 signpost for Dromahair keeping the Carroroe church to your right and the veterinary practice to your left. Travel approx 300m past the sign and you will arrive at Castledale to start your dream adventure (which does comes true). The whole experience from booking to arrival to departure was so smooth. A tip is always to go direct to the main website as breakfast is included free in the price. We were both overwhelmed with the grandeur of the buildings and the gardens. Everything was meticulously clean and well presented. On entry to the main building the magic and charm of the place takes over. A grand piano, cinema room, games room, winding staircase, magnificent high ceilings reach out to the guests on arrival. The room we stayed in was comfortable and had in it all that we needed (kettle, tea, coffee, milk, water etc. Breakfast was just super. We started off with the granola and yogurt followed by the Irish breakfast (made from locally sourced ingredients). Sitting arrangements for breakfast were different in that guests sat side by side in one extended table setting instead of the usual separate tables. This allowed for guest interaction and actually added to the breakfast experience instead of the normal glancing at other guests across the room (an excellent idea and well thought out). All in all, we would highly recommend Castledale and so impressed were we that we fully intend to make this our Sligo base whenever we holiday in the West. Finally the price is fully affordable and exceptionally reasonable. This was luxury but at a price that should suit everyone.

It’s a challenge to find especially if you arrive late as we did. The gate is unlocked from the house, the garden is large and very well maintained. The house has many common spaces for guest use. The breakfast was good. Host Gerry was very helpful and informative. Alas, we had a small room without desk or anywhere to put suitcases. The bathroom had nowhere to lay out makeup etc. towels were limited to bath only, no hand towels or bath mat. Provided you get the right room this is recommended.

From the moment the gates opened and Gerry was there to welcome us we felt well looked after, super comfortable and contented. The house is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and the hosts could not be friendlier. With just one night to savour Castledale, we opted to get food delivered which we ate in the garden under the gazebo. We were able to watch the Lionesses win the Euros 22 final in the cinema room which was a treat. The beds are super comfortable and breakfast was divine. Meeting Jesse James was the icing on the cake, such a lovely soul! Highly recommend a stay and I would definitely return in a heartbeat!

WOW, I have never ever experienced somewhere like Castledale before, it’s the most prestigious, gorgeous and out of the ordinary places to stay! The grounds are incredible, the hosts were incredible and their gorgeous doggy Jess! These guys were so welcoming and dinner was so tasty! We stayed here for the night before my friends wedding and it just felt so chilled and relaxed. Thank you guys again!

We stayed at this is a beautiful hotel while traveling around Ireland. The hotel is in a quiet place outside the city of Sligo. We have highly appreciated the quality of everything, starting from the location of the hotel and the beautiful gardens to the welcoming reception of Gerry, the comfortable room, and the delicious breakfast. We were sorry that we didn’t stay longer as it would have been a perfect place to rest and relax. We recommend this hotel with absolutely no hesitation.
