Detailed Reviews
We arrived in Sligo by train right after flying to Dublin from NYC and stayed two nights. For the price we paid, we could not ask for a better stay. Some highlights include an excellent, well-presented, multi-course breakfast, free and easy parking, a beautiful clean property (inside and out) with plenty of spaces to hang out outside of your room, strong water pressure/temperature, reliable internet, comfortable beds/pillows, and rooms that are dark and quiet at night. The host is also personable, helpful, and kind. I would recommend a stay here to anyone in the area. The only suggestions for improvement are perhaps including a small fridge in the room for drinks and maybe some nicer towels. A few notes that might be helpful to others: the property is a 10 Euro, fast taxi ride into town and finding a taxi is no trouble (the property has a radio button and there are obvious taxi ranks in Sligo; you can also use the FreeNow app to call an official taxi); like most properties in Ireland, you do not have an individual thermostat in your room, so make sure to have layers to sleep in - I was actually a bit warm at night, but I tend to sleep hot.

Absolutely beautiful house in large grounds with metal gates (which we were given a key for) and plenty of parking. We were met at the door by Gerry who gave us a tour of the house including the large TV room and we were told that we could play the grand piano if we wished or use the snooker table in the room beyond that.
Our room was lovely and spotlessly clean and had a lovely view of the garden. The bed was large and comfy and the bedding good quality. The pillows were some of the comfiest we came across during our trip. Toiletries were provided in the bathroom and there were plenty of towels in our room. There were also tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The TV had Netflix available.
After a long day of travelling and exploring and as it was a lovely sunny evening we decided to enjoy the beautiful gardens and sat under the gazebo and ate the sandwiches we’d bought earlier. Although the house is quite near to a busy road we didn’t really notice the traffic noise and at night it was very quiet and we slept very well.
In the morning we had a lovely breakfast of granola and yoghurt followed by freshly made pancakes - other breakfasts were available including full Irish etc and were ordered the night before.
This is a bed and breakfast so it is unfair to expect a restaurant serving evening meals or a bar which in our opinion would spoil the peace and tranquillity of Castledale.
Thank you for a lovely stay, we would definitely return

Book this place! It’s amazing. The hosts are the best I’ve ever encountered, so incredibly helpful, hospitable and generous. The rooms are very well equipped with Tigi Bed Head products in the (powerful and hot) showers. The beds and mattresses are very high quality. The breakfast was delicious and huge, and they cater for dietary requirements. There’s a pool table, grand piano and cinema room you can use without charge and the grounds are beautiful.
If you want to go and eat in Sligo you just press a button and a taxi arrives in under five minutes.
I was bowled over by this place.

Was so looking forward to staying at this property. Arrived excitedly to the secured entry gates and announced our arrival. The drive up to the house was beautiful and Gerry was at the door to greet us - all looked promising. However, as soon as we set foot over the threshold Gerry informed us that there was a problem with the shower in the room we had booked and therefore we could not stay in it. Furthermore he explained that he would not be able to provide breakfast the next morning. He proceeded to then give us a tour of the cinema room before showing us into a bedroom off the hallway before quickly leaving us. We found the room to be cold and the room and the views very underwhelming. The gardens seemed beautiful but the view from this room did not reflect this. We were at this point extremely disappointed and felt we should have been informed of the change in circumstances before our arrival. We made contact with Gerry who agreed straight away to cancel our booking. So we found ourselves out on the side of the road late that night looking for alternative accommodation. Such a pity.

It’s a challenge to find especially if you arrive late as we did. The gate is unlocked from the house, the garden is large and very well maintained. The house has many common spaces for guest use. The breakfast was good. Host Gerry was very helpful and informative. Alas, we had a small room without desk or anywhere to put suitcases. The bathroom had nowhere to lay out makeup etc. towels were limited to bath only, no hand towels or bath mat. Provided you get the right room this is recommended.

This contemporary mansion is splendid, very close to Sligo town (car required). We had a superior suite with two bedrooms, the main one being huge, a dressing room worthy of an American film, a bathroom with a jacuzzi bathtub, a balcony with furniture and a superb view of the park. A small problem with a stuck tap in the shower was quickly resolved by our very friendly and helpful host, Gerry. The common areas: cinema room, billiards, piano and dining room are also superb and very tasteful. Breakfast was perfect. Too bad we were only there for one night.

We have just come home from a stay at Castledale and we could not recommend it any more.
On arrival Gerry was there to welcome us and he was so lovely. We spoke about heading out that evening and he mentioned to us that we would need cash for the taxi (which we didn't have). Gerry straight away offered to lend us some money to save us from going back out in the car to find a cash machine. He recommended some lovely places to visit.
Our luggage was left in London by our airline and Gerry and Kaajal took control of this when it finally arrived, taking it up to our room while we were out. They just wanted us to relax and have a nice time and not to worry.
Breakfast was amazing, we had such a choice and it tasted divine.
The room and surroundings were absoloutly beautiful and I would 100% recommend staying at Castledale to anyone who was thinking about a trip to Sligo.
We will definitely be back
Thank you xx

Such an amazing place. The whole house & the grounds are spectacular. Every inch of the place is spotless & well maintained. The bedrooms are lovely with stunning views. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners, who bend over backwards to accommodate every need you may have. Couldn't recommend this establishment any higher if I wanted to

Family-run boutique accommodation located in pristine grounds on the outskirts of Sligo.
Castledale makes an excellent base from which to explore the area from Donegal to Mayo and cover a good stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Breakfast is excellent with a lovely community feel to it, friendly service and an excellent Full Irish.
The hotel grounds are wonderful and the penthouse, where we were lucky to get a berth, has beautiful views of both the grounds and the hills close by.
Evening meals are pretty much up to yourself, especially at this time of the year and there are ample excellent eateries in Sligo town and deliveries to the hotel are always good option after a long day out and about.
Overall, excellent location run by great people.

We stayed at this is a beautiful hotel while traveling around Ireland. The hotel is in a quiet place outside the city of Sligo. We have highly appreciated the quality of everything, starting from the location of the hotel and the beautiful gardens to the welcoming reception of Gerry, the comfortable room, and the delicious breakfast. We were sorry that we didn’t stay longer as it would have been a perfect place to rest and relax. We recommend this hotel with absolutely no hesitation.
