We were lucky enough to attend a beautiful wedding this weekend in the Bridge House Hotel. From start to finish, it was magic. The staff went above and beyond for the couple, their friends and family. They made a huge effort to remember our names and drink orders. A special mention to Derek on the front desk, an absolute gent who fed me at half two in the morning- what’s rare is wonderful and that he is! Darrell and Tammy on the bar both days along with the rest of the staff, ye are such a lovely bunch of people, customer service is one of the hardest jobs but there’s a reason why this hotel has the rep that it does. A hotel is only bricks and mortar, the staff are what makes it… and that unreal hydro pool. Already planning our next trip down. You’ll make Tullamore heads of us dubs yet!

The Bridge House Hotel is a lovely hotel the staff are friendly and obliging nothing is too much trouble given the current covid situation they handle everything very well without making guests feel uneasy but definitely feel safe. The food is of a very high standard in both the restaurant and the bar and very fairly priced. The bar staff are wonderful Darragh and Gavin are two great lads to deal with very efficient and friendly.
The rooms are spotless and comfortable if I had one gripe it's that there are only rainfall showers in the bathroom you need flexible hose showers also for hairwashing and no toilet brushes either.
I would highly recommend the hotel and will definitely be returning
Thanks to all the lovely staff who made our visit enjoyable relaxing and welcome a home from home.

Stayed here with my friend during the week for one night. We were apprehensive with everything going on but as soon as we got in to the hotel we realised we had nothing to be worried about. There were multiple sanitisation areas, The staff were so friendly and made you feel right at home. We booked afternoon tean it was in the Library bar in a lovely setting and it was such a nice treat! We also booked dinner in the bar and grill and the food was delicious, really big portion sizes and the staff there were great too. The room was warm but absolutely spotless! It waa nice to feel safe but have some normality back at the same time- a credit to everyone working there. Would definitely reccomend it aas great value for money too.

As a frontline worker I was so looking forward to a relaxing break and was recommended to stay at this hotel by friends. I prebooked on
their official website and booked two nights bed and breakfast. I also

decided to book a meal and a bottle of wine. When checking in I paid the bill in full. I wasn't aware or wasn't told there were two restaurants. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told "oh your at the wrong restaurant but we will squeeze you in". We were shown to a table at a pillar beside a working station/dresser.I observed the young waitress sanitizing the tables with two bottles of chemicals and a cloth, which when she finished she deposited them beside me on the work station.
This really upset me due to the health regulations of covid. I asked to speak to the manager and was informed she would come and speak to me. Eventually a man came to speak and apologised saying I was completely right. We left the restaurant and went downstairs to have a drink.
The waitress followed us down saying "oh you just went off and you didn't pay for your food or wine". This was said in front of other customers and bar staff. To say we were embarrassed was an understatement. I explained I had paid in full but she would not listen and insisted I sign a form and handed me a receipt
After a sleepless night I went down to reception to pay the bill again only to be told oh your have already paid to which I replied well why was I told I left without paying my bill.
Her response was "well we use different systems and well you know we were done before" no apology and then had the cheek to say well if you pay again you can have a meal tonight. I said no thank you and went elsewhere.
I have travelled all over Ireland and the world and I have never been treated this way. If this is what staycations is in Ireland it is not for me.

We have recently completed phase 2 of our refurbished bedrooms with the final phase planned for later on in the year. We stayed here for 2 nights on November 24th -26th, we had an awful experience they put us in the wrong room, the durrow suite oh my god it's like going back in time to the 1900's very old and dated, heating not working in the room, so they sent us up a portable heater and a free cocktail, avoid room 200, My husband went down to reception to see what the mix up was with the room and to ask for us to be moved, only to be told by a rude lady there was no other rooms to come back down at 7am to see if we could be moved rooms, absolutely disgraceful their mistake not ours, we went downstairs for food in the char bistro, that only got worse, we ordered food at 8.10 didn't get it until after 9. We ordered a two course meal, my husband ordered chicken wings, when they came out they were stone cold, so we had to send them back, waiting another 15 minutes on fresh ones which were much better, I was giving soup with no spoon and no bread or rolls hubby had to go ask for them, for our mains my husbands steak sandwich came out missing the fries and the sauce he ordered on the side, my chicken curry was missing the poppadom, then we ordered 2 cocktails which we were waiting 45 minutes on and when my husband went to the bar to see what was taking them so long, the staff apoligized and gave us them free. The staff in the bar were lovely, just very slow service. The next morning when we were going for breakfast a lovely lady from reception called my husband and said we have a new room for you, the charleville room which we booked first, room 306, which was so much better lovely and modern. My husband had to ask for the €50 back as they charged more for the durrow suite, we paid cash only to be told they don't give cash there and would have to put the refund back on our card. but a big no no for me was pushing 2 single beds and single mattresses together to make a king. Breakfast was OK, id rate it 6 out of 10 good variety of continental items such as cereal, fruit, scones, fresh pastries, juices, hot breakfast just OK egg was like a plastic toy, We booked the total relaxation package which included 2 night stay b&b and one evening meal 2 Spa treatments each of our choice and afternoon tea we spent €428 which is alot of money to spend for an awful experience. The massages & facials were amazing the girls were absolutely lovely very welcoming highly recommend them. Afternoon tea was nice the set up was lovely. The hydropool was tops 10/10 for that, we also used the steam room, we couldn't use the indoor jacuzzi or sauna as there was maintenance being carried out on it, so overall the staff were lovely, most of them, but the service was extremely slow & unprofessional. I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience this time, I stayed here in 2019 for my sister in laws hens and my god I couldn't fault them, hence the reason I went back, but it was not the same experience for me ...

Wow! Is what you say to yourself as you enter the hotel with its (kitschy) cruise ship type lobby with impressive staircase leading up to the balcony restaurant. Indeed throughout the hotel is pretty striking, but rather less so in the bedrooms which would be quite ok but for the dreadful lack of sound-proofing. Next door to me was a gang of noisy young teenagers who we're having loud conversations through the night in the corridor with their pals from another room. It was the second hotel in Ireland with this noise problem I stayed in, in succession. Two fairly sleepless nights in a row. Phoned manager, who was responsive, but he can't rebuild the walls. Every time someone plugs in a mobile phone charger it echoes in room next door.

Breakfast was fine, dinner in bistro very good value but far too much on the plate-if that could be described as a complaint. Hotel is struggling a bit in its service with the Covid, but it is implementing safety to a good standard.

My recommendation is to enjoy this hotel at times of the year/week when certain more noisy people are less likely to be in residence, due to the very serious lack of soundproofing.

Lovely hotel with delicious food, attentive staff and amazing Spa. We spent three relaxing days at the bridge house hotel due to our main holiday being cancelled and cannot recommend this hotel enough for value for money with excellent customer care and amazing food, the steak is the nicest steak I have had in a long time. The rooms are modern very clean and a spacious bathroom with all amenities. Due to Covid no kettle in rooms but staff will bring you one on request with everything bagged up and individually packed. Every step was taking to ensure all Covid restrictions were in place with signing in to bar and bistro, social distancing and hand sanitizers everywhere. The cocktails were fab especially sitting on the roof terrace with the sun shinning down. Unfortunately the pool and outdoor hot tub were not in use due to a fault but having spa treatments made up for that and Tullamore dew distillery tour is a 5 min walk away. Definitely worth a visit to this hotel and hopefully we will be back very soon.

Stayed here for one night during the heatwave in July. On entering the hotel to check I liked the old style of the place. The lady on the reception was lovely and very pleasant. We got a suite on the third floor. The room was specious and the bed was lovely and comfortable but the room was really outdated. There was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room because of “COVID”??? The heat was almost unbearable in the room as it was really hot that day. That night it was impossible to sleep with the heat.
We went for a swim in the pool in the evening, it’s only a pool for floating as it’s not ment for swimming due to its shape. The water looked a bit cloudy and the outside jacuzzi was the same. It definitely needs a good overhaul and some investment.
Went for a meal that night, we were given a €50 voucher for the meal even though we paid for an evening meal. The €50 didn’t come anywhere near the price of the meal, it was the first time I’d ever been given a voucher instead of just getting a three course meal like you do in any other hotel I’d ever stayed in. The meal was lovely and the staff were excellent, efficient and extremely nice.
Breakfast next morning was ok, the usual fry up but not much variety of anything else.
This hotel has an old style charm but badly needs to be modernised or people just won’t bother returning. Staff are its greatest asset and hopefully are well looked after. Not much to do unfortunately in town only drink or wander around.
Don’t think I’d be returning in a hurry

My parents booked this hotel for 4 nights for Valentines last week. With the unprecedented arrival of storm Eunice and the Red and Orange weather warnings we advised them not to travel and to stay an extra night.

They are pensioners, aged 86 and 76 and had booked in on a golden oldies deal for the 4 nights. They asked on Thursday night was there room available as they did not want to travel in the storm and they were charged 189e for an extra night room only. Fu weekend premium rate.

They had dined all week in the restaurant and even invited friends for dinner. They are regulars at this hotel and have stayed 3 or 4 times a year for 3 nights at a time. They're total bill on leaving was 850e.

On the last night they even had a sandwich in their room not to incur anymore expenses having nearly paid their full weekly pension on 1 night.

I think this is a disgrace and contacted the hotel by email to voice my anger. They have been going to this hotel for over 10 yrs as they have friends and relations I'm the town.

One of the Manager's, Noel, phoned me and offered a 50e refund to the card saying he could have sold the room to someone else at the full price. His reasoning was that they are currently renovating rooms and are not at full capacity. Yes he was justifying charging them nearly a full weeks pension when all they wanted was to be safe from the storm. He kept reiterating what a good deal they had gotten for the 4 nights prior to the storm. As far as I'm concerned there was no reasoning and this should not have happened.

On their website this hotel prides itself in having 'World class service' , well I beg to differ. I think in the times we are in with the cost of living on the rise and it's being highlighted everyday in the media how much people, especially pensioners are struggling to heat their homes and pay bills, this is a disgrace. Yes you could have sold the room to someone for full price, yes you have got rooms under renovation but I think 100e here or there in your pocket means alot less than in the pocket of pensioners, returning customers

The manager said to phone him personally the next time they are booking. My stepdad is a quiet man, a gentleman, old fashioned, doesn't like a fuss. The moment they were told they didn't have to cocoon anymore last year he was on the computer booking the hotel. I passed on the message and informed him of his 50e refund and he said he would not be retuning. Frankly I do not blame him. What an insult. No real apology just trying to justify their actions.

Hi 90aoifeo, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I do hope your parents enjoyed their break with us initially and I am very sorry to hear they where upset about the price to stay an extra night. I can assure you we don't charge extortionate prices and our over 50's midweek deals are very good. In many instances the hotel does not make money on these particular specials but we are happy to put deals on when there is availability. It seems to be that your parents where on a specific package for their 4 night stay and the 5th night was a last minute booking. Unfortunately we where very heavily booked, and their original offer was not on offer for that extra night. All our rates are programmed based on supply and demand, a little bit like when you book a flight, you are not always guaranteed to get the same price. We would love to welcome your parents back again and of course will look after them as we always have done over the years. You can liaise with me the next time directly on booking ( marketing@bridgehouse.com) & hopefully we will see you back at The Bridge House Hotel. Kind regards,

A family group of us stayed overnight at the weekend, across six rooms. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant from the moment we started making enquiries. We were celebrating some special occasions and were offered a discounted upgrade on one of the rooms. Requests for a cot and a fridge were accepted with no bother at all.
The rooms are a bit dated, but perfectly pleasant and lovely beds. The staff on reception were helpful with advice and chats - especially Susan, and did everything they could to help. The breakfast staff seemed young and perhaps inexperienced, but any small mistakes were sorted straight away.
A tasty dinner in the Balcone restaurant in the evening was great too, some awkward allergies dealt with and treated appropriately with special dishes.
We will be back!

HI John, The hotel car park is just 60 seconds walk from the hotel entrance. If you drive past the hotel with the entrance on your right hand side, follow the road and you will see the car park with entrance and exit barrier. Hope this helps, if not please call the hotel on 0579325600 and one of our team will direct you. We look forward to welcoming you. Best Regards, Barry Kennedy General Manager
