Amazing place to stay would highly recommend. The house and garden are so lovely. The room we stayed in had 2 large double beds , the room was so spacious and spotless. Breakfast was lovely , great choices. Dermot and Ann are great hosts. Would definitely stay here again, around 10 min walk to The Quay with a great selection of bars and restaurants..

Beautiful B&B with lovely gardens and sit out areas, conveniently located just 5 mins away from the pier area and around 8-9 mins from the main streets. Great breakfast. The room was magnificent. Lots of lovely paintings and curios.

Just returned from a one-night visit to this B and B. All the signs were good - it looked stunning on the website, and the gentleman I spoke to when I rang to book was very friendly and helpful.

First impressions on arrival at Glendaran weren't great. It was well over the advertised 1.5km from Westport town. We were greeted by a surly teenage boy, who brought us to our room. We asked whether he might have any phone numbers for local taxis, and he told us the business cards were downstairs in the foyer - god forbid he might offer to bring us up one!

Our room was like a 12 year old boy's room. Nothing like the luxurious spacious bedrooms featured on the website - it was tiny, cramped, horrible blue walls and carpet ... the TV was stuck into the top of the wardrobe; however if the door was opened enough to watch it, it blocked the entrance to the bathroom. It took several minutes to lock or unlock the door due to poor carpentry. It was extremely warm, so we had to sleep with a window open. Worst of all, the coffee making facilities: rather than individual sachets of coffee, there was an almost-empty jar of Nescafe ... but with Maxwell House coffee in it. Yuck.

On the plus side, the room wasn't dirty and the bed was comfortable.

Breakfast. None of the usual Irish B and B spread of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereal etc. Rather the proprietor (one of the most unwelcoming ladies I have ever met) offered us the extensive choice of Weetabix, branflakes or muesli - which she meted out herself in the kitchen lest we might overindulge! The orange juice was concentrated and room temperature - it may very well have been left on the tables overnight - and I got an extremely filthy look when I asked for a second glass!! My boyfriend got an average full Irish; I got quite decent scrambled eggs and pink, underdone sausages. We could hear the microwave in constant use in the kitchen - I wasn't impressed. The toast was cold and in scarce supply.

So, off to the room to fetch our bags and leave. We arrived down in the foyer. Out came the "lady" of the house: "Thats 76euro". And that was the most conversation we had with her all weekend - although I don't blame her for not asking us whether we were satisfied, I'd imagine she was well aware she'd have gotten an earful! No "Thank you" or "Goodbye"; nothing.

I'm speaking as someone who has stayed in many B and Bs, both in Westport and across the country. Had I paid 30euro per person, I would have been fairly satisfied. However, at 38euro p.p. you expect some nice little extra touches, and Glendaran was lacking even on the basics. Needless to say, as frequent visitors to Westport, it's one place we won't be returning to.

We recently returned from a 7 day trip to the Republic of Ireland. Along our journey, one of the places we stayed at was the Glenderan B&B in Westport, Ireland. This was our first experience with a B&B; we were not disappointed. The house was very modern and updated. The rooms were spacious with very comfortable beds. The bathroom had excellent water pressure. Breakfast was delicious and accomodating to both meat eaters and vegetarians. The location was a 10 minute walk (3 minute drive) into town where all the great restaurants and pubs await. We would definitely stay here again.

Price: 34 Euros per person per night.

Our experience with Glenderan was the ONLY bad experience we had on a recent trip to wonderful Ireland. Despite an on-line reservation, more than 4 emails, and finally, a follow-up telephone call from the States, when we arrived, Dermott told us there had been a "spot of bother," i.e. no room for us. It appeared that he had a later reservation for two nights instead of our one night which he had accepted.

He did find us a substitute place not far away, but it was not one we would have chose.

BEWARE. Glenderal reservations don't mean much to the proprietors.

During our trip to Ireland, we depended on the bookings made by our agency,Exploring Ireland, and again they scored with this B & B. The people were great. The rooms were immaculate, very tastefully decorated. Breakfast was excellent with more than generous proportions. Don't miss the sunset sitting in Westport looking on to Clews Bay. Truly majestic. Highly recommended

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Glenderan in October and we had a wonderful stay. Ann and Dermot have a beautiful home with the largest and most spacious rooms we've ever been in, and we've been in many since we've been to the Emerald Island four times. The room was well appointed and spotless, the bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was great. It was very quiet and relaxing at all times. There was always a toasty fire in the sitting room with a nice flat screen TV and a computer in the sun room that was available to guests. Ann's breakfasts were very good and Dermot's recommendations for dinner and sights were spot on. This was the first time we've been in Westport and we will definitely return again not only to Westport, but to Glenderan!

Having stayed here on business, I decided to return with my partner last weekend for a leisurely break. Run as a B&B should be, Anne was very helpful, accommodating even offering to drop us over to our car the following morning but we took the short scenic greenway path back into town instead. The location (just a 5 minute walk from 3 really good bar/restaurants) is a little bit of open countryside in a town but the jewel in the crown are the rooms. Realistically comparable to a Four Seasons Hotel room, this is quality at B&B rates. I'll definitely be back here again and I'm almost afraid to give it a great review as its popularity may mean I don't get a room again...Congratulations Anne for running a great home and welcoming everyone so well. See you again.

Glenderan is in a beautiful country setting not far from Westport. The rooms are large, well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast was great. This was our second stop on a week long vacation. Ann and her husband Dermot were welcoming and helpful in planning the rest of our trip. Dermot provided great input and made suggestions which were spot on and really added to our experience. We had a great time visiting pubs in Westport which is a long walk(20-30 min) or a short cab ride away.
