Nestled in an area that's popular for its scenic views and proximity to hiking trails, the Westport Woods Hotel is acknowledged by many guests for its favorable location. While the spacious rooms earn points for cleanliness, some visitors suggest they could benefit from modernization and enhanced soundproofing. The hotel's staff is often described as friendly, though service can occasionally appear disorganized.
Opinions on value are divided; certain guests praise it, while others feel improvements are warranted, particularly in the food and amenity offerings. The hotel's atmosphere is generally lively, with entertainment like live music being a highlight, albeit some feel it could use a touch of warmth.

We enjoyed a great stay at the Westport woods hotel. The rooms was very comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic. The service at anytime from the restaurant or the reception was great at all times also.
Our only complaint was the leisure centre. On using the pool on Saturday evening the changing rooms smelled strongly of urine and the showers needed a good scrub. A few different people commented on the smell on coming into the changing rooms also. The were no towels available on check in but the did supply us as we left the pool. There was two young individuals at the desk who were using their phones and chatting where they could have been giving the changing rooms a quick mop and a wipe. We did use the pool again on Monday morning before checking out and it was a completely different story. Clean dry changing rooms and fresh towels available. It would have been a shame for one night stays to have only experienced the leisure centre in the state it was on Saturday.

After climbing Croagh Patrick it was lovely to only drive 10 minutes down the road to Westport Woods Hotel where we received a lovely welcome and quick check in! Our double room actually had 2 double beds but there was only 2 of us which was a surprise , the room itself was comfortable and clean . We used the pool also which was very energising and we enjoyed the steam room, only constructive feedback we could give is possibly more attention & enthusiasm from the staff on arrival and to improve the overall cleaniness throughout the changing rooms and shower area . We also went down to the bar for our 3 course dinner which was really excellent , compliments to the chef! Veg soup, Roast beef dinner and Apple pie for dessert wow 10/10! Service was slow to begin with but very tentative afterwards. We relaxed after our meal to live music and dancing in the same bar which was great fun ! Over all very good value for money . We had breakfast before we checked out and service was really good and the full irish again cooked perfectly , really tasty! Overall we were pleasantly surprised and will 100% recommend to others and stay here ourselves again!

The best weekend can’t fault the Hotel, staff in any way, no matter where you went the staff were on hand to make sure you had all you needed, I have stayed in many hotels over the years but most definitely this is my number one. The rooms are of great size bed is so comfortable the food is off great quality music in the bar you won’t be disappointed with a stay here. We checked out booking again on the first night we stayed we were that impressed. Great value for money, location is superb both for a stroll into the town or for someone who may want to take a hike up Croagh Patrick.

Went to stay at the Westport Woods hotel for a weekend while climbing Croagh Patrick. Hotel looks good from outside, reception is spacious and modern with an ATM (Handy for taxi's as Uber does not run in Westport). Bar area is modern and clean/spacious but this is where we noticed the first issue with this hotel...the staff. It seemed like there was lack of trained staff during periods of the day, trying to work under pressure without much guidance. At 2pm, there was only one staff member working the bar/food area trying to serve at least 5 people. There was people lined up for at least 5-10 minutes waiting to be served and in instances the customer had to guide the bar staff to show where the beverage they requested was stored. At another point, someone from reception had to come and help out as there must have not been enough staff laid on for the rota. I understand that its the summer and that alot of new hires are brought in for the season but you cannot expect them to learn by themselves without appropriate training/guidance.
Was given a room on the top floor which seemed to be an adult only floor. Room was a decent size but is due a revamp as it was a bit run down, set of drawers with varnish scrapped off in multiple areas/ floor boards uneven in multiple areas/ no air conditioning. The air conditioning was the worst issue as even with the windows open (they are only allowed to open a couple of inches from the bottom), the heat was rising from the other floors which meant even on cold days, you were uncomfortably warm and needs to be addressed. A positive in the room was that the bed was clean and comfortable as well as the pillows and the noise proofing seemed to be good as we did not hear anything in the halls or from other rooms at all.
Leisure centre was a positive, pool was clean and jacuzzi/sauna/steam room were all active and were not overcrowded and is a genuine positive for this hotel.
Had breakfast in the restaurant on both mornings of our stay and food was decent but once again it seemed like the staff were all roaming around without knowing fully what to do unless there was guidance provided. On one of the mornings, one of the staff who served us forgot my wife's order and we had to have someone else serve us while our original server had moved onto someone else.
For paying nearly 400 euro, we expected a lot more for our money.

We just finished our stay in the WWH. We ate in the restaurant every evening, and the food was always brilliant. The menu was varied - we particularly loved the sea bass! Great quality food with creative presentation. The restaurant had a relaxing atmosphere which was just what we needed after a busy day. The self-service breakfast every morning was fresh, including the continental - there was something for all with pancakes upon request etc. Eating our breakfast with a view of the woods was a wonderful start to each day! We would often go to the bar in the evening, and the service was always quick and attentive.
Our room was spacious and very clean, with two lovely windows. Housekeeping did an excellent job.
A big thank you and shout out to the team. Alison makes every stay special. Nelly and Siobhan are super - professional and attentive. Kay, Annette, Anne and Mary are informative, helpful and efficient.
The location is second-to-none, with the Quays and Westport town a few minutes away.
We will be back soon!

Firstly I’d like to say Siobhan and the kids club were fantastic. The rooms were clean and housekeeping asked everyday if we wanted the room cleaned, fresh towels etc. Excellent service What was the most disappointing thing was the frequency of the kids club. The hotel advertises the kids club, however it’s all over the place. There is nothing set. When it’s on, it’s great. However when you book for a mid term break with a kids club, that’s what you expect. Also the kids meals in the bar at 11.50 for goujons and chips, in my opinion is very expensive. Again the staff were excellent. Management needs to have more staff to facilitate the kids club, and more restaurant staff to clean the tables etc

Our stay at the Westport Woods Hotel was, unfortunately, one of the most disappointing we've ever experienced. On arrival to one of our rooms we needed to go back down to reception and ask for a hoover as part of the carpet and some of the bed area was covered in what looked like mashed up pringles, how anyone getting the room ready had not seen this mess is beyond me and it should of been cleaned before we arrived. The food was shocking. Overpriced, most items not fresh but straight from a freezer and portion sizes were tiny. Our roast dinner came with one roast potato, a few peas, no mashed potatoes, no stuffing and the smallest piece of dry meat imaginable. The cheesecake was so tiny you’d need a magnifying glass to see it and as for the chocolate brownie, it was no brownie just a heated up piece of chocolate sponge. I expected better quality of food from what was meant to be a 4 star hotel. The bed in the single room was like sleeping on a pile of rocks, making a good night's sleep impossible. To make matters worse, the heat in the room was unbearable; it felt like being in a sauna all night even with the windows opened. During breakfast, not a single order was correct. Despite there being only three of us with prepaid meals, they managed to miss multiple items and served portions that were shockingly small and when we asked the overwhelmed staff for the correct items we were made feel like dirt as we were given dirty looks and criticised within ear shot! You had to pay extra for coffee and as their card machine was broken 2 days in a row we had to pay at reception before finishing our meal which meant mine was cold by the time I got back to it. The service was equally poor, with untrained and seemingly unhappy overworked staff. It didn't help to hear that card tips don't even go to them but to the owners so we made sure we gave cash tips to the few staff that actually did interact with us and were very pleasant. To top it all off, the elevator was out of order for an entire day. If you had a buggy or a wheelchair, which some guests had, you were out of luck as no help was provided. My husband and son helped carry an elderly women in a wheelchair down the stairs as no staff were available to do so! The pool area and spa were being worked on so there was workmen, tools and dust everywhere and we were told it was out of bounds to us. At least we were lucky enough to have a bath in our room though so it felt like we were in the pool haha! Numerous times reception didn't seem interested in what I had to say as they too seemed overworked so basically we left knowing we would have to write a bad review. Overall, this stay was a letdown. For the price we paid to stay three nights we expected much better so unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and will certainly not be returning. Save yourself the money and the trouble and look elsewhere for accommodation as Westport is a beautiful place to visit and the town was buzzing, fabulous area for a family break!

3 fabulous nights staying at the Westport Woods Hotel… Westport is absolutely beautiful & lots more fun whilst there for St Patrick’s day (the town was buzzing)… The hotel sits a 20 minute walk away from the town, easily walkable if able or an €8 taxi fare!
A big shout out to Kay & Stephen who are a massive asset to this hotel! Kay was so welcoming, approachable & attentive on every interaction, her big smile lit up that dining room whether it be breakfast or dinner service. Stephen also couldn’t have done enough, always there to assist, a gentleman, impeccable at his job with the customer service provided across our stay.
Bedrooms were lovely, a great size. We had booked a twin and got a large double bed each, extremely comfortable. Housekeeping attended daily to change towels & make up the bed. A little on the hot side on our first night, radiators turned off and windows left open solved that!
A couple of small niggles to mention; very surprised not to see a cocktail menu & no brandy glasses on offer at a 4 star hotel.
Overall I would highly recommend this hotel. I look forward to a return visit one day.

We stayed for 3 nights and we cannot recommend this hotel enough. All of the staff were excellent. There was a problem with my brother in laws wheelchair accessible room and it was sorted straight away. Our family room was very spacious with gorgeous fluffy towels in the bathroom. The food in the bar and restaurant was delicious. Great choice for breakfast although food titles beside each food would be helpful. Alison in the restaurant looked after our every need when we had dinner there. The housekeeping staff were always very courteous. My wheelchair user brother in law would like to especially compliment the staff member who brought down his suitcase to reception upon check out, without being asked. We will definitely return.

Clean hotel but very dated. We made a last minute booking for the Westport woods as it has a pool and family rooms and the other hotels in Westport that have pools were fully booked. The pool was decent for the kids and easy to book. I went to the bar to suss out the food menu and relax while the kids were in the pool. No one came to the desk at the entrance of the bar to show me to a seat so I made my own way in, took a seat but after about 15mins had to go to the bar myself and ask for a drink. The bar was empty accept for a family and a man at another table. None of the bar staff wore masks inside or outside the bar. I asked for a drinks menu but was told they don’t have one. The lights were off in the restaurant and the place was like a ghost town. (This was about 5pm) The room was dated but clean and spacious. No water left in the room which I thought was bad form at €250 for the room for 1 night and the heat was on full welt so we could all have done with a drink in the middle of the night. No vending machines to be found to even buy our own drinks without going to the bar. The key to the room was a leather key ring with the number of the room written on paper and sellotaped to the leather part so not very hygienic or COVID friendly. The WiFi was pretty much non existent in the room and kept kicking out. The hot breakfast was poor with no pancakes/waffle options available for kids, and the sausages with the fry were definitely not cooked fresh for our order. The continental options were decent. For the money we paid I would definitely not recommend this hotel, it’s in need of an update in the worst of ways.
