We needed a base to explore the west coast and we found this gem on the shores of Clew Bay between Westport and Newport. Lovely rooms, welcoming and friendly staff, wonderful views and lovely peace and quiet. Newport and Westport are both within 15-20 minutes driving distance and with the N59 in easy reach all of the west of Mayo can be got to with little effort. Definitely visit Clare Island via ferry, climb Croagh Patrick, and hire a bike so you can ride from Westport to Achill Island. And of course eat out a lot - there are so many lovely places to eat. So a fabulous spot in beautiful surroundings run by lovely people.
Have just returned home from our 6th visit to Seapoint House! The most idyllic of locations and within 10 minutes drive of Westport and Newport. The house in gorgeous and excellently maintained, the food is fantastic and the owners Carol and Conor could simply not be more accommodating! Dumbfounded as to how any one could give a rating of less than VERY GOOD!
We stayed here with our 7yr old boy. The house is just beautiful, our room was very bright and big with the added bonus of a jacuzzi bath. The views were fabulous and although it is in a remote area its not actually far from what you need. The breakfast was great and a great selection of very healthy foods. Even the fry seemed healthy with all the really good local produce used. Carol is so nice and friendly and gives loads of helpful information about the area. The son Cormac was also very kind and patient with our lad and played basketball and soccer with him. I would highly recommend staying here.
A fabulous location overlooking Clew Bay. The room was spotless, only thing we missed was a tv. There is a lounge with a tv though & coffee/tea making facilities & a supply of biscuits. Plenty of hand sanitizer available for use during this pandemic & breakfast is served to you for hygiene safety. A fabulous breakfast. Juices, fresh fruit salad, cereals, porridge, yoghurts, a cooked breakfast freshly made to your specification, toast, homemade wheaten, tea coffee etc etc. A meal to sustain you for the day. Carol could not do enough for you & can recommend places & activities to enjoy. I must mention her daughter Meagan, who served us the breakfast. For a young person, she was bubbly, attentive, chatty & couldn’t do enough for you, an absolute credit to her family. Couldn’t recommend this B&B more. …
I would like to preface my review with the fact that Carol agreed to allow me to come stay at the Seapoint House B&B when they were not yet open for season, so I did not get the full experience of the bustle of a full house and the dining room in the mornings, etc. but that did not make my stay any less enjoyable. Carol made it clear that they were not yet open for season and as such would not be running up to her full standards and wouldn’t be able to do breakfast for me, however, she was was extremely attentive, so friendly and sweet, and very thoughtful and prepared for my visit and even made me a simple breakfast in the morning, which was so very kind. The house is beautifully decorated. Both the common areas, living and dining rooms, are quite lovely and cozy. And if it’s a cool night, there’s a nice fire going in the living room. I can only speak to the room I stayed in which was quite nice. It was extremely clean, had a very comfortable bed, and I even had a soaking tub in the bathroom which came in handy after a long day horseback riding around the bay. This location is absolutely beautiful (I chose it because my family comes from islands very close by) so it is a bit remote, but that’s what I was personally looking for and the views from the rooms are spectacular as you are just off the bay. Seapoint House is about a 15 minute drive or less into town, Westport, so you’re not far from wonderful dining, pubs/bars, attractions and shopping. While I may have gotten a bit of extra attention, as I was the only guest at the time, I would highly recommend Seapoint House B&B to anyone staying in the area who likes a comfy, cozy, and very pleasant experience but wants to remain somewhere a little outside of town and see the area in all its natural beauty. Lastly, I would like to stress once more how incredible warm, friendly, attentive, and welcoming Carol and her family are :) Will hopefully be able to stay here again next time I come back! Ps - The photos I captured were not my best, but I did want to share as I feel they show the beauty inside and outside Seapoint house B&B…
Absolutely gorgeous B&B in an amazing setting. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. It is an ideal spot to explore Mayo, a short drive from Westport with its great range of restaurants and bars, but beautifully peaceful to relax after a hard day’s walking. There is also some stunning walks behind the house over the causeway. Highly recommended.
What a nice spot - simple classic b&b - good service, nice rooms, very very quiet location - 10 mins drive from night life The west of Ireland is my fav place in the world (except Iceland) for stunning views and beautiful locations
Amazing little bed and breakfast! Host was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Beautiful scenery and well away from the crowds. Breakfast was all class and the lounge very comfortable. Make sure to be a good neighbor and keep your noise down, as the walls are quite thin!
This house was on a beautiful piece of land. The rooms were well kept up and provided gorgeous views of the countryside. Wonderful evening teas and breakfast with French press coffee made the stay even better. For one of the most beautiful views in Ireland, take the 20-30 walk behind the house. You will be inspired. Carol is a wonderful host. I’d recommend this B&B to anyone.
Carol provides an impeccable , yet cozy, stay. She and her family are welcoming, going above & beyond to make guests feel like royalty! We stayed there for two nights and wish we had more time. While you could spend all of your time in the area around Seapoint, it was the perfect spot to explore Westport, Clew Bay and the amazing Achill Island.
