Detailed Reviews
My third visit to Cloona and it really was a transformative experience. Simple and clean accommodation, a detox programme which really works (flatter tummy, clearer skin, weight loss, more alertness and energy), delicious soups and salads when not on weight-loss juicing days, juices on weight-loss days were amazing, wonderful advice from Dhara, delivered in a non-complicated way, a safe and warm environment within which to detox, regroup and nourish the soul. Massage treatments from Derrick, Bihar Yoga from Cathriona (amazing) and a facial from Ann which was a beautiful experience. Have already booked my fourth stay and much looking forward to it. Thank you to all the team. Grace

A truly wonderful retreat in a beautiful part of the world. If you are contemplating a retreat here just book now, you will not regret it. As always I departed on Friday feeling nourished, rested and recharged (both mentally and physically).
You can expect a warm authentic welcome, simple cosy rooms, delicious organic food, pure spring water, daily guided walks on beautiful country roads (+a forest and a beach walk too). Yoga classes now take place in the stunning new yoga room which is surrounded by greenery everywhere you look. A range of optional treatments with highly skilled therapists are available to book during your stay too.
Covid protocols have been seamlessly incorporated without feeling in any way restrictive e.g. Two groups of 6 now rather than one group of 12 previously for yoga class.
Dhara is always on hand to ensure everyone is doing OK.
Huge thanks to Rose, Dhara and all the team for making it all seem so effortless. I'm looking forward to my next trip already.

I returned to Cloona last week for my first trip away since lockdown and I couldn’t have chosen a better place to get away to! As usual Dhara and team’s attention to detail is impeccable. I felt extremely safe and comfortable as every precaution and social distancing measure had been put in place. The level of cleanliness is always exceptional in Cloona and was so on this trip. The addition of the new glass fronted yoga and meditation room looking out onto lush greenery is fabulous!
Regarding the programme itself, I would highly recommend a visit to anyone wishing to detox and reset in body and mind. It is simple yet very effective. The ethos and integrity of Dhara and his team at Cloona make it such a special place. I have returned here on many, many occasions and will continue to choose Cloona as my number one place to pause, unwind and reset. 5 stars for sure!

This was my second visit to Cloona, my sister’s third visit, and our first visit together. We were very lucky to get a week there in October at very short notice. We arrived there in good time on the Sunday, were met by Dhara and the next few days flew by in a whirl of wonderful tasty vegetarian food, especially the soups, two wonderful walks a day, meditation first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and energising yoga classes with Catriona, washed down with plenty of glasses of the most refreshing Mayo spring water. I didn’t miss the tea/coffee, (or my mobile phone or WiFi), never felt hungry and came home alot lighter and fitter. Reflexology, massage and facial are also available here. I will always remember the Laghoo! The company of our fellow guests was just wonderful and so supportive, and all the staff so friendly and professional. I highly recommend a visit to Cloona - on your own the first time is best- and you will find that you just keep going back... for the company, the fresh food and true relaxation. When Friday came, I didn’t want to leave...Angela

I’ve just returned from my 5th visit to Cloona where as always a warm welcome was received by Dhara and his team. It is about taking time out for “me” away from the hustle & bustle of our busy lives, not only does it give you a chance to reset your body and break old habits, it also gives much needed headspace from the craziness of our lives and the world. At Cloona you can be alone or in company as much as you like, people who visit Cloona are from all walks of life, there is no judgement with plenty of support & laughs along the way. It is immaculate with simple cosy rooms. As always I stayed on the 2nd Floor with a shared bathroom, absolutely spotless. The new yoga room is fantastic, there are various optional treatments with highly skilled therapists and you can enjoy the sauna & Epsom salts baths which help enhance the detox experience. There are daily walks in the beautiful countryside and a trip to beach (if you are a sea swimmer bring your togs!). It is peaceful, calm, nurturing and fun and there is no feeling like the Cloona Friday feeling after a week detoxing and giving back to your body and mind.
Don’t think twice, it really is a magical place and I’m very grateful to have found it !

Cloona is the best investment you will make in your health and well being and will kick start you into better habits. I returned this March for my second visit and I my aim now is to go once a year.Cloona is located in the Westport countryside providing a scenic daily walk, has comfortable spotless accommodation and tasty vegan food. It is caffeine and alcohol feee so good to give up caffeine in particular the week before you go. We went for a swim every day at a variety of spots but Bertra Beach stands out. Yoga is something that scares me and I would not be a fan but Caitriona’s yoga completely changed my mind about that and I miss the daily yoga. The available treatments were all excellent and Sam’s meditation was exceptional. I am a new person. I cannot recommend Cloona enough.

Another wonderful experience at Cloona. The retreat is always spotless, warm and cosy. A beautiful new yoga room makes a lovely addition. Dhara and his team are so kind and caring and work to the highest standards. Special thanks to Isabelle for the delicious soups and salads, to Catriona for the amazing yoga and for her encouragement and to Ann for a wonderful massage. Cloona is the perfect place to relax and restore. This was also my first holiday post lockdown, and I felt very safe.
Now it was not all relaxation as the week included a liver flush on the Wednesday (offered once a year). This involved swigging down various beverages with Dhara's guidance and support. We rocked through it and I feel lighter as a result. My fellow retreaters were lovely, so open and fun. Thank you Dhara and all for providing such a special place for us to escape to.

Just back from my fifth visit to Cloona and am already planning my return next August. I relax as soon as I drive in the gate. It's truly a physical and spirtual detox and retreat, allowing a withdrawal from the world for five lovely days. The food is delicious, the yoga and walks are meditative and fun and the time alone in comfortable surroundings with no phones, newspapers or internet is heaven.
The COVID protocols were professionally done without changing the programme or the atmosphere unduly - well done to the team in continuing to make it so special, despite the COVID challenges.

Cloona is quite literally a breath of fresh air for your body and mind. Everything is perfectly and thoughtful set with your comfort in mind. Dhara, Dervilla, Patricia, Catriona, and all the team are very special people with a compassionate intuition, genuine kindness, warmth and mindfulness to all guests. If you are looking to rest and rejuvenate I can think of nowhere better than Cloona. I am looking forward to my return visit.

I'm just back from my first Post-Covid stay at Cloona and, as unlikely as it sounds, the team has managed to take protocols that might have been a major disruption, made the programme even stronger. 1) The latest addition of a purpose-built yoga room flooded with natural light was brilliant and the smaller classes enabled social distancing. Caitriona's classes were wonderful before - but they have been further improved by these surroundings! 2) There were new evening classes which have equipped me with small practical exercises and stretches to combat the vagaries of working from home and 3) There has been real innovation in the recipes. Kudos to all the team. The welcome was as warm as it has always been... I'll be returning within the year. Surely a week at Cloona is the best investment anyone can make in themselves...?
