Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just returned from my sixth visit to Cloona and I will be back hopefully next year again. As I drive through the gates I relax, as my mind and body know the pleasure and benefit I get from the retreat. The place is simple and comforting... the food is good and nutritious and the walks, yoga, saunas and the company are uplifting. Plenty of time for reading, sleeping, going for sea swims and even popping into Westport if you are brave enough to endure the smell of chips and ice-cream! You can be as sociable or anti-social as you like and there are a range of extra treatments if you want to try them out. In year one, I was afraid of being hungry and apart from juice day on Wednesday where I experienced a few mental grumbles, I never was. I feel like a visit to Cloona is a major gift to and investment in myself and while very indulgent, I will continue to indulge whenever I can manage it. Thanks to Dhara, Cathriona, Isabelle, Rose and all the team in Cloona.

To all at Cloona, a huge thank you! My stay there was such an amazingly positive experience. Having arrived very much under the weather, I left energised and relaxed and more importantly restored. I was apprehensive about going on my own but the warm welcome from Dhara and some of the guests immediately fixed that. Cloona is calm and nurturing and has so much to offer: daily yoga with Caitriona, who is an incredible instructor, guided walks in the nearby lanes and Bertra beach, sauna, excellent treatments and exercises. The organic, vegetarian soups and salads were an absolute joy and the natural spring water was a bonus. The program is carefully thought through and allows ample time for relaxation, reading, resting and chatting with fellow guests, and all without the interference of a mobile phone. I met some wonderful people from all walks of life and out of the 12 of us, only 3 were first timers. There is no doubt that Cloona is special and I look forward to returning.

I’ve just returned from my 5th visit to Cloona where as always a warm welcome was received by Dhara and his team. It is about taking time out for “me” away from the hustle & bustle of our busy lives, not only does it give you a chance to reset your body and break old habits, it also gives much needed headspace from the craziness of our lives and the world. At Cloona you can be alone or in company as much as you like, people who visit Cloona are from all walks of life, there is no judgement with plenty of support & laughs along the way. It is immaculate with simple cosy rooms. As always I stayed on the 2nd Floor with a shared bathroom, absolutely spotless. The new yoga room is fantastic, there are various optional treatments with highly skilled therapists and you can enjoy the sauna & Epsom salts baths which help enhance the detox experience. There are daily walks in the beautiful countryside and a trip to beach (if you are a sea swimmer bring your togs!). It is peaceful, calm, nurturing and fun and there is no feeling like the Cloona Friday feeling after a week detoxing and giving back to your body and mind. Don’t think twice, it really is a magical place and I’m very grateful to have found it !

Overall highly recommend. Be mindful of no phone network or WiFi unless you are v lucky or go into town. Yoga. Caitriona’s classes are restorative, relaxing and energising and her empathetic manner and calming voice were the highlight of each day. Food. Delicious. Never felt hungry but was quite weak on the first day of juicing. Definitely start your detox at home to make things easier when you arrive, it is not easy but well worth it. Water intake is the key. I lost 9 lbs and counting. Wheat grass takes some getting used to! Massage was wonderful but I didn’t have any other treatments, made the most of the sauna and salt baths which was enough for me. Two daily walks was too much for me so I skipped the early morning one after day one! If you’re used to walking on the flat, Dhara’s pace is quite intense. The beach walk on day 3 is fabulous. Would have liked the walks to be more varied as the views are incredible. We had a great group, one couple and 10 individuals. Also a lot of information to take in on the first night in a welcome talk from Dhara but then nothing further. Would have been nice to have someone around during the day to ask questions. I had a single room which was v comfortable and no problem with shared bathroom.

Just back from a 5-day retreat feeling refreshed and healthy. Cloona is set in lovely countryside, with Croagh Patrick as the backdrop. The early morning walks listening to the birds singing, the yoga classes and the wonderful fresh healthy food will live long in the memory.

Wonderful stay at a charming retreat, housed in a restored mill in a peaceful setting of hills, dotted with farm animals. I stayed in a single room with shared bathroom that was never over busy. I really enjoyed the Yoga classes, held in a beautiful woodland view room. The meals, walks, fellow travellers all made for a productive week. In addition spa treatments are offered which were varied and very good. Not only did I lose weight, I came home feeling refreshed.

Cloona is an amazing retreat centre full of calmness and serenity. The food is amazing and the treatments available are very varied with exceptional therapists. My favourite daily class was Yoga with Caitriona, such a lovely human full of knowledge. This will be my go to place when I need to switch off in the future. Thanks to Dhara, Isabelle & Dervla & all x
