From our welcome to meals, staff gave a high level of service. Warm welcome, and excellent service. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommended the hotel. Thank you for everything. The location is spectacular. The food excellent.
Where do I start? OK I'm anal about details and I pestered the life out of the hotel prior to our visit. Their rapid responses were immaculate, polite, to the point and just about perfect 5 *. Check in. Equally perfect. We checked in slightly before the time they said we could do that was a big plus, whilst waiting we had coffee in the Brehon bar and decided to do afternoon tea and supper there.5* Brehon bar. Afternoon tea good, seeing perfect overlooking Creagh Patrick. Sandwiches were fine, cakes so-so. Evening meal, we both had burgers. Good quality and nicely presented. 4* Room, we booked in a Tower suite, great lay out, setup room all round, clean. Would recommend 5* plus. Fougere restaurant. Great food, great service, great presentation for evening meal. Breakfast was pretty good, not spectacular but more than adequate. Maybe some cold cuts of meat and cheese would go down well. 4* plus. Spa. Incredibly disappointing hence the hotel only getting 4* when it deserved more. The things one expects in a Spa. Jacuzzi, relaxation room, comfortable loungers around the pool. 1. No Jacuzzi whatsoever 2. No relaxation room 3. 4 loungers in total around the pool each one as uncomfortable as the next. Hard wood with no soft padding just a wafer thin"matress" to lay on. Around the pool were "artifacts" pots and stuff like that. It certainly didn't create the effect that was planned and limited the amount of loungers in the pool. We intended to make this 5 day break a sitrseeing and spa relaxation holiday but all we did was spend about 1 hour on the loungers before they actually became too uncomfortable to lay on for any longer. This was a total disappointment to us. A grudging 1 *. So overall the hotel element was 5* but the spa let down the entire Ireland experience. Would be stay again? Certainly if the spa was upgraded, updated and offered a better standard of relaxation, otherwise NO! Which is a massive shame as we will be coming back to this beautiful part of Ireland again in the near future.…
Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing experience. Our room was very comfortable, although our first night's sleep was interrupted by a smoke alarm somewhere close by, and the arrival of the fire brigade! Seems somebody attempted a sneaky smoke! Staff generally very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. We would recommend, and intend to return.
A most enjoyable stay. Would visit again. Bar menu and breakfast could be improved with a wider selection. Appreciat the issue of economies of scale. Excellent value for money. We would have liked a lounge/bar area with more atmosphere.
Stayed one night, it was really only average but for nearly €300 would have expected much more. The hotel is nice but quite dated, as is the spa pool area, which could also have been cleaner. The very cold pool was a bit of a shock to the system. Breakfast again was really only ok, very very limited buffet options. Would have expected more from a 4 star and for that price. The staff on the other hand were really lovely, from the queries answered before arrival to check out, they were all very pleasant and accommodating
