Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sandra was a wonderful host. She provided suggestions for trips and entertainment. Breakfast couldn’t have been better. Located right downtown. It was very clean and quiet and I would not hesitate to stay there again.

At a time where everything is rushed and impersonal ... A breath of fresh air in the form of The Plougastel House B & B restores your faith and belief in an excellent customer service experience. My elderly father and brother enjoyed a 3 night stay here and haven't stopped talking about their experience. This beautiful B & B beats any top hotel for its exceptional and personal customer service experience. Rooms are absolutely beautiful and a generous delicious breakfast is served with an excellent selection and choice. Fantastic location and unbeatable prices. The owner and team deserve huge recognition for this wonderfully run establishment. I cannot thank you enough for all the attention and care you showed my family and the wonderful experience they received by you. They wanted me to be sure and thank you from the bottom of their hearts. Thank you

Beautiful b and b, spotlessly clean, lovely tasty breakfast and really friendly hosts, we will definitely be back. So much nicer than a hotel and more affordable . We really enjoyed our stay, unfortunately it was only for 1 night

Perfect accommodation and host. Her B&B was beautiful and no detail was overlooked. Her flowers were amazing. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast and pastries were amazing! Saundra was available and responded to every need. We were only there for one night and would have enjoyed staying longer. Would strongly recommend this Bed and Breakfast! I can’t say enough good about our experience.

Charming, comfortable, personable hostess, delicious breakfast and great location. This home is very welcoming, beautifully decorated, with only a few blocks from the busy shopping and pub area of Westport. I mostly enjoyed the Irish welcome of the owner and staff!

This is a perfect B&B in Westport. Great location, easy walk to all the shops and pubs, but, best of all, the warm and friendly welcome from Sandra. Wonderful cooked breakfast and clean and well appointed rooms. Awesome place!

W O W. We loved our stay at Plougastel, and Sandra & crew could not have been more welcoming, helpful and dear - truly above and beyond. The room was first-class, from the linens to the gorgeous bathroom (we literally snapped photos of the loo for ideas for our own home renovation). And the breakfast was just splendid - and so generous - from juice/cereal/fresh fruit salad/tea/coffee, and a menu ranging from full irish breakfast to poached eggs or smoked salmon and eggs. Deeelish! When traveling in Ireland, please don’t stay at hotels; these types of awesome B&Bs offer great amenities PLUS the incredible Irish hospitality and conviviality with folks like Sandra Corcoran of Plougastel B&B. Don’t miss this gem of an experience!

Room Tip: Lots of parking on the street in front; very close walk (2 blocks) to the thick of Westport!

Sandra Corcoran's exquisite B&B is everything you could wish for. Location is 10/10 a very short walk from both the train station and the very center of town. The house itself, and its beautiful gardens front and back, is a delight. The bedrooms are spotless, a good size, well aired and with heating on (August in Ireland isn't always that warm), tea, coffee and biscuits are laid on. A lovely bright bathroom, with the toiletries of a 5* hotel, a great size shower with fabulous pressure. My previous experience of B&B's in Ireland didn't live up to the excellence of Plougastel House and often left me wondering if I should have booked a hotel instead. The breakfast, served in the lovely dining room is copious and excellent and my French husband was very pleased to find delicious croissants along with the full Irish breakfast he happily tucked into. For quality, price ratio Plougastel House B&B is absolutely top and it's a more personal experience than a hotel - I'll always remember Sandra and her assistant's legendary warm Irish welcome - I'll definitely be back!

We stayed in the Plougcastel for a night last week while passing through Westport. Only wish we could have stayed longer as the rooms were beautiful and spotlessly clean. The hostess Sandra and her staff were friendly with a great sense of humour . We were made feel more than welcome and breakfast came complete with freshly made scones that you would climb Croagh Patrick for. Well done folks thank you.
