Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Definitely a one off stay. Room was very small and shower room tiny. At breakfast, the host kept coming down to table to see if we had finished our breakfast.. We felt like we were holding them back. On the morning of checkout, we were asked to leave early by the host with no reason given. Some cutlery at breakfast not cleaned properly. Breakfast menu was great and a great central location, hence the average rating.

Perfect place to stay in Westport. Right in the centre of everything. Our room was small enough but spotless with a large comfortable bed. The room was lovely and cool at night, even with the window closed, due to outside noise. The breakfast was lovely. Our hosts Des and Bernie were very welcoming but not intrusive. We will definitely go back to this little gem.

Stayed for our wedding anniversary, smaller than our usual accommodation, “Bijou” we’d call it. Location is perfect for the Westport night life. Great, knowledgeable hosts, lovely breakfast. Parking area is small, but it’s €2 to park for 24hrs at the rear, free on Sunday. Great trip. Love Westport and surrounding area.

This place is not good. Just dont stay here. I only stayed here on the May Bank Holiday 2019 so it's not that long ago! My bullet points now as I wrote a review and went over my 1500 characters: Guy banging on first night at 3.am. had let phone go dead- no code for door or key for room. Awake for half the night. Night number two- same carry on. Randomer looking for a room. Bed up against door of bathroom. Short bed- feet out at the end! Fake tan notice. Dont wear fake tan luckily so no fine of €25 which is a joke considering if you set a washing machine high enough it will come out. €200 for two nights with bad sleep- need I say anymore. DO NOT STAY HERE. Texted owners for partial refund. Wont hold my breath on that one.

We stayed here after Croagh Patrick. It's a lovely friendly place to stay. Clean, comfortable and quiet. Lots of options at breakfast. Central location, walking distance to all pubs and restaurants. Free parking too for guests.

The room was lovely and clean and the bed was very comfy. The windows are a little difficult to open when it gets stuffy as the room was quite small. However, there seems to be a slight sewage problem as our shower room had a terrible smell coming from it. There is also notices up regarding getting tan on towels after a shower or the bedsheets will incur an extra charge.

Lovely clean guest house in the centre of Westport. Des and Bernie where fabulous hosts. The breakfast was beautiful and had a great selection of hot and cold food. We had a double room with a very large comfortable bed. Tea and coffee making facilities where available. Our room was ensuite. The room was lovely and modern and spotless Would recommend this accommodation and definitely stay again

No front desk, so you need to telephone the hotel to arrange check-in. We tried telephoning the hotel several times to do so - but they did not pick up. We were stuck waiting outside the hotel for approx. 1.5 hours. We were eventually relocated (by Hotels.com) to another hotel. We were still charged by Elephant Guest House. Tried contacting them for a refund, but to no surprise, no answer. Wrote a review on their Facebook page - but it mysteriously disappeared shortly thereafter. Would not recommend!

Booked this accommodation through the hotels.com website. After arriving down to Westport, we spent 1.5 hours parked up trying to get in touch with the hotel owner but to no avail. We were forced to try seek alternative accommodation. On top of it all they went ahead and charged us with the full accommodation fee even though we had left messages with them. Lack of professionalism show by the hotel owners was incredible. Could not recommend enough that people avoid booking with them.

I rang this bnb back in July to make a booking , the lady advised that the date I selected was fully booked so I proceed to change my plans as she suggested a family room which I required was available from wed 8th of August ,she also suggested that I should book through her website , which I proceeded to do so , on her website it would only allow me enter that I was travelling with 1 child when in fact I was travelling with 2 , I decided to go away ahead with the booking and follow up with an email to the bnb to state I had 2 children . On arrival I was greeted by des , I checked in using my name ref he proceed to give me a room key but said room was not ready , I stated I would go park an return shortly. On parking at rear of premises, and unloading my hubby and kids from my car , Des appeared to tell me we would not all fit in room he had allocated for us , and could I come to House to make alternate arrangements. After wasting 20 mins in the kitchen , they proceeded to say that they did not have a room available to accommodate us and that they would try elsewhere . At this point I left with my young and pretty irate family at and agreed I would return shortly to see what solution they had , 15 mins later I received a phone call from the land lady to say she had found us alternative accomodation 10 km outside the town of Westport and asked would this be ok , I replied that under no circumstances would this be sufficient . After spending most of our day with elephant guesthouse we made alternative arrangements In the town , they obviously double booked the family room and were trying to cover up , obviously their new Comp system is not up to scratch , very unprofessional and unaccomodating , would not recommend .
