This Inn is tucked away from noise and lights while maintaining a lovely country feel.
The hosts Carmel and Paul are fabulous. Carmel so social and interested in you and what your doing. You can tell how much they enjoy guests. Bar downstairs was used at night by our friends and my husband. They enjoyed themselves. Our room was great. Very cozy and comfortable bed and bedding.

We had the most wonderful stay in this B&B. Our room was perfect and Carmel could not have been more accomodating. She really made us feel at home! Fantastic price, beautiful location and wonderful hosts! Thanks Carmel, we will back!

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in Westport at the Buckfield Inn, and it was a phenomenal experience. Carmel went above and beyond--and that is no exaggeration--to accommodate us, making us feel 100% welcomed and taken care of at all times. Our room was super clean and cosy. All meals (breakfast and dinner) were extremely fresh, filling, and delicious, and our caring hostess made sure that we were completely happy at all times, which we were! In addition, Carmel helped us with local reservations and rentals. The inn is unique in its breathtaking and peaceful location, as well as in its equally sociable atmosphere, as we both chatted up with the locals for hours one evening. Sidenote: if you're a Gaelic coffee fan, this pub serves one of the best we've had in Ireland!! Besides the cleanliness, cosiness and professionalism demonstrated at the inn, we were both completely taken by the surrounding area. The inn is in the perfect location: off the beaten path, yet very close to the city center as well as to the absolutely gorgeous Western Greenway, where we spent a day biking and taking in stunning views. If you're looking for an exceptional b&b with exceptional people, then this is the place for you. When we return to Ireland one day (I hope soon), we will definitely make our way back to the Buckfield Inn.

This was my worst B&B experience in Ireland since last 5.5 years. The room was dirty - spider on the ceiling, flies around in bedroom, livingrrom and diningroom. Thick layer of dust on TV and under the bed. Drawer filled with old, empty plastic bags and old magazines. The place is very noise - I was woken up several times during the night by the noise from the pub (I think it stopped around 2.00 am) and the noise made by the lady owner welcoming some guest that arrived late that night. The breakfast was very disappointing - Irish breakfast was very modest and not tasty. Continental breakfast was inedible - some cereal boxes were empty, fruits were rotten and old. Dining room smelled like an old furniture. That put me off eating. And the place is not cheap at all - half price was charged for my 3 year old son, that stayed with us in the double room, where no towel was provided for him (only two towels per room) and the owner was surprised when I asked for a sausage for him for breakfast - she said she tough he would not eat anything for breakfast.
I would not recommend this place for anybody.

We haven't stayed in the inn but we did stop by for a pint. The Fitzgeralds are warm and welcoming and the pub is one of a dying breed serving local clientele. They pour a perfect pint. It's a great stopover just off the Greenway.

We booked this B&B based on the pictures on booking.com and tripadvisor. Unfortunately our room did not look like the room as advertised at all. Small bed/room and only a roof window.
The B&B is located at a 10 min drive from Westport. This sounds easier than it is. A local person warned us to drive carefully and drive much slower than max speed because of the curves and small lanes. We intended to go out in the evening but the thought of driving this road, without any street lights, in the dark made us decide to go and look for another place to stay. We found something with a much better quality/price ratio in Westport.

The Buckfield Inn is the perfect place to experience authentic Irish life in midst of a breathtaking countryside. After a peaceful night in the cosy rooms of the B&B I looked outside the window and saw cows grazing on emerald green fields in the morning. I loved the breakfast and I have to say it was the best I had on my whole trip through Ireland. Being offered 4 different options, I chose the pancakes which were absolutely delicious, Carmel had prepared them with great love for detail. I enjoyed them in a beautiful old-style dining room where Carmel and Paul were happy to provide me with many tips on how to explore the stunning scenery outside the B&B. They are really lovely, warm-hearted hosts and made me feel as if I was at home. I can definitely recommend this B&B - a wonderful, comfortable place to unwind and let you spirits flow.

We traveled 15days from Cork along the Westcoast and it was our BEST place we stayed. Incredible how Carmel welcomed us and give us in the morning an good Irish breakfast. She do here 'job' with so much love that it is like a mama with new children in her home... The Pub was also a nice place with very friendly local people. She help us also to find on a sunday a shop that has a chip for photocamera, just at the moment that she must go to the church... for her customers she takes a lot of effort. Thank you Carmel

We stayed for a weekend at Buckfieldd inn.The location is great, the inn is just along the Great western greenway. It can be accessed from the Greenway itself, approximately halfway between Westport and Newport, making it a perfect base for the trek both for walkers or cyclists. The hospitality was great, the rooms are en-suite and very clean.Altough they are above the pub, theye were quiet for sleeping (even for our 5 months old baby).
The landlady Carmel is very friendly and helpful, the meals she provided were very tasty - loved the smoked salmon salad platter for dinner, the Irish breakfast kept us walking till the afternoon....We also were provided with packed lunches.
The locals are also very friendly and helpful, we had trouble with a tyre, two neighbours helped us fixing it in 10 minutes.(Special thanks to them again.)
Generally it was a very nice stay, I can only recommend it, it was like visiting relatives in the countryside. (With only the positive experiences:)).

Compared with good hotels both in Westport town and beyond, this was very poor value for money. The room was tired, dated and quite cold, although it was clean. The bathroom was in serious need of refurbishment and the quality of the ingredients in the "Irish breakfast" was disappointing. Carmel, is I am sure a very nice person, but we felt both the Bed and the Breakfast were sadly lacking.
