Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What can we say other than amazing from start to finish . The Country house is majestic and the rooms are spacious and well appointed. Mary is an amazing host and her attention to detail is second to none. The breakfast was amazing far superior to what we have ever received in 5 Star hotels . We will be back

Beautiful building and luxurious decor and comfort throughout. Quiet and peaceful house and surroundings. The owner Mary is a very welcoming host with great local knowledge. Breakfast was fresh and tasty with lots of hot options. Parking onsite and great location for exploring the local surroundings. Highly recommend . We stayed for two nights and felt it is fantastic value for money

My friends treated me to a stay in this fabulous Country home as part of my 40th birthday celebrations & it did not disappoint. Such welcoming hosts and the house was fabulous. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with something for everyone. Would highly recommend to couples to just get away from it all or for a good catch up with friends.

What a fabulous place tucked away between Castlebar and Westport. Excellent accommodation, lavishly decorated (almost palatial) and the breakfast is to die for. It was just so comfortable it made our driving tour of County Mayo a real treat. Thank you Mary!

This is by far the ultimate in guest houses. Hosts Mary and Pat make you feel instantly at home in their wonderful Westbrook House. Our room was simply superb with a very comfortable bed and furnishings. The freshly cooked breakfast was huge and lasted us right through the day until our evening meal in one of the good restaurants in nearby Westport.
Thank you Mary for making our second stay with you so memorable. We are sure it will not be the last.

If only all B & B's could be like this!! The owners, Mary and Pat, made our first trip to Ireland something to always remember. Our room was enormous, spotless and most comfortable with a bathroom complete with Jacuzzi and walk-in shower adjoining. The house itself is a real treasure set in its own grounds. We felt as if we were staying in a stately home. Breakfast was a real treat and we tried everything on the menu during the course of our stay. The full Irish breakfast sets you up for the days sightseeing.
Thank you Mary and Pat for making our stay with you such a pleasure. I am sure that this will not be our only visit.

Have just spent three of the most comfortable and glorious days at Westbrook Country House where nothing was too much for hosts Mary and Pat. They gladly collected us from Knock airport and provided us with every comfort. The house and rooms are truly grand and stylish and make you feel that you are staying in some kind of Irish Manor House.
Being gluten free, Mary still managed to produce a full and satisfying breakfast as well as having gluten free biscuits at tea time.
We cannot be more positive about our stay and are already planning our next visit.

The first trick in staying at Westport House is actually finding the place.

I thought I had good instructions, complete with a detailed map. However it took four excursions up and down the road to and from Castlebar to actually find Westbrook House. This included stopping at a petrol station to see if they could help - they couldn't

There is NOTHING outside the house to indicate that you have reached it. All that exists is a small sign actually inside the gate that you can only see if you enter the property, which we did with some trepidation in case it was a private house.

It was not just us that had difficulty - at the communal breakfast the next day, the two other couples staying admitted that they too had problems finding it.

So make sure that you will not have this problem if you stay here.

Stayed here for the weekend,a friendly welcoming atmosphere, hosts were lovely, friendly and helpful. Our room was magnificent with a huge ensuite.Breakfast was freshly cooked to perfection,a great choices of fresh fruits, cereals and cooked breakfast at a time to suit.Fresh coffee and juices all served in a beautiful, clean dining room.Really cannot fault this place, ideally located for Westport and Castlebar(taxi ordered for you if required).A pleasant change from usual hotels with a more relaxed atmosphere without detracting from standards,if you love quality and comfort stay here!!!!!!!!!

Did not interest me at the time but I overheard another guest stating the same that the vegetarian breakfast had been very good. The secret at the establishment is tha t the owner does the cooking and does so to a very high standard.I know your question has nothing to do with the accommodation but please give it a try you will get a lovely surprise. Good luck, Ian & Moira! Scotland.
