Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed at Kay's B&B on our way through Ireland. Kay is extremely friendly and responds to every wishes of her guests. On the first day when we arrived we were surprised with tea, coffee and homemade pastries (scones) - which was very nice of her. The rooms are very cute and very clean. You sleep wonderfully in the beds. Super breakfast and good parking directly at the house. Many sights can be easily reached from here. I can definitely recommend the B&B. We will definitely come again. More than excellent. I wish I could give more Stars.

We stayed for 2 nights in Windermere House, arriving late Friday night and found landlady Kay to be most welcoming and ready to make tea if we wished but we had a function to attend so left immediately and arrived back to a large ensuite double room at 1am to find the heating still on. For the two mornings that we were there we were treated to home made brown bread, scones, pancakes and a lovely fry. There was no rush down to breakfast so we were able to have a lie in in a most comfortable bed. Winderemere was a real gem and hopefully we'll be back.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a funeral nearby. Kay is a welcoming hostess which started with homemade scones and tea on arrival, full Irish cooked breakfast and comfortable, quiet accommodation at the back of the house. We would have no hesitation in staying here again.

It was our first visit to Ireland and it was awesome. Other than the breath taking landscapes, we were bowled over by the Irish hospitality. Windermere House was one of the B&Bs that we were lucky to stay at; Kay was truly welcoming and so very accommodating to our needs and requests. Thank you Kay for your hospitality and for being part of our memorable stay in Ireland.

This could have been an OK stay, but it was ruined for us by the host's unfair suggestion that we had caused a problem that we had nothing to do with.
The room itself was a very tight fit, with a double bed and two twins wedged into an area inadequate for them. The shower (more about that later) was so tiny that we decided not to utilize it. We never got inside the shower and never even touched the controls.
The next morning, as we were packing up, we went use the toilet and saw that there was a good inch and one half of standing water in the bottom of the shower. Yuk! Upon checking out, we quietly/away from any other guests mentioned the situation to Kay, thinking that she could get it remedied before anyone else had to deal with it. To our amazement, the first two things she had to say in reply were: "I hope this doesn't ruin my review on Trip Advisor" and "What did YOU do? Did you leave the tap on?" Stunned, we assured her that we had not touched the shower controls, but she persisted: "The guests the night before didn't have a problem." By that point disappointed and disgusted by the false implications, we told her that she should go up and see the situation for herself and left to pack the car. As we pulled out we saw her standing by the front steps, waving at us with a smile on her face.
That is simply not the way to treat your guests. Hospitality plays much more of role in B&Bs than at hotels, and at Windemere House, at least for us, that was sorely lacking.

Kay is a perfect host! She welcomed us with tea and biscuits, helped us with tips and said bye with fruits and biscuits to take away. The rooms are very clean, the place is warm and with a lot of personality. The Knock airport is 40 minutes away by car. I would sleep here again!

My wife and I stayed at Windermere House in May 2007. Ann was a very special hostest and made several great recommendations about the area and the various eating establishments in both Castlebar and Westport. Her home was lovely and very comfortable. Breakfast was a delight. I would recommended Windemere House to anyone traveling in County Mayo and visiting this charming area of Ireland.

Kay and Peter's place is amazing. The beds are very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious but most of all Kay is the nicest person you would want to meet. She is warm, welcoming and very interesting to talk to. I would definitely recommend their place to everyone coming to the Westport area.

We had the most amazing stay from our arrival to the time we left, we were greeted with tea and scones, made to feel so welcome and Kay is an amazing hostess, took time out of her busy schedule to discuss the highlights of Westport and beyond, and the "craic" was mighty
Thank you Kay and Peter for your hospitality

Kay & Peter couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming! I wasn't expecting the tea and scones on our arrival, that was a special treat!
We were there when the weather was a little cool for us, Kay turned on the heat to make us comfortable. (that certainly didn't happen everywhere we stayed!)
The food was delicious, my favorite was the scones!
Out of all the B&Bs we stayed at theirs was the BEST!
