After many tours of Ireland, we can say that the Carragh House is one of the best, if not the best B&B we have ever experienced. It is also an absolute recommendation for motorcyclists! We arrived in Castlebar quite wet and were given a friendly welcome. We were immediately offered a drying room for our wet clothes. The motorbikes were parked safely on the enclosed property. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. Daily cleaning and towel change included. The breakfast is amazing! Not only is the "Full Irish" really freshly prepared, there is also a large selection of fresh fruit, muesli and homemade jams. The crown jewel in the Carragh House, however, is clearly the owners. Des and Oonagh live hospitality! It is a joy to have the two of them around, the mood for the day can only be good... even if it rains all day. Every morning Des comes to the table with his map and gives insider tips. He can tell you about sights, small motorbike roads and even places to stop for a bite to eat. The two of them also have the best pubs and restaurants in Castlebar, where you might even meet up for a Guinness by chance. In our opinion, the best Guinness was at "John Mc Hales", just a few meters from the B&B. Dear Oonagh, dear Des, it was a pleasure to be your guests. Thank you very much for that!!!

Carragh House run by Des, Omagh and Tommy, situated in the heart of Castlebar is warm, friendly and welcoming from the moment you step inside. The bedroom was quiet, very clean and comfortable, the shower hot and powerful and the breakfast delicious. We would highly recommend a stay there

Most quests who were staying at Carragh House during my two weekly stays were people who had stayed there before and the reason was evident. There isn’t a B &B in Ireland where you’ll find more friendly, caring and competent hosts, than Oonagh and Des. My suitcase was inadvertently abandoned at the airport, but as soon as this was discovered on arrival at their home, Oonagh was on the phone and my case was back with me in no time. Guests are treated as they would like to be in their own homes: breakfast is served in a congenial atmosphere, those who want to chat and those preferring quietness (particularly after a late night) are catered for accordingly. The bedrooms are spotless, the bed very comfortable, and the atmosphere quiet in the night. Those unfamiliar with the locality have hosts who are very knowledgeable, having lived in Castlebar all their lives (but having travelled extensively themselves). Local pubs are within walking distance and traditional Irish muscular can be enjoyed in several of them. This was my second time staying at Carragh House and I look forward to doing so again before the year is out.

One of the loveliest places we have stayed in Ireland. We were met with the warmest welcome from Des who shared lots of local knowledge with us and made sure our bikes were well taken care of. The room was spacious, comfortable and really clean. Brilliant breakfast and excellent value for money. Would definitely come again if we were in Castlebar.

An excellent place to stay with exceptional hosts. They both really went out of their way to accommodate all of our needs and was truly appreciated. This B&B was highly recommended by all 6 of us who stayed at the House. The breakfast was fantastic and cooked to request. Absolutely no issues whatsoever. There was a wide, varied and healthy range of cereals as well, if cooked breakfast is not your preferred option. The rooms were clean, well maintained and great parking.
Fantastic hosts who go above and beyond, have a great manner about them and we would most certainly be revisiting if ever back in the area and have recommended this to relatives already. Definitely well worth a visit.

My wife called Carragh House before we arrived to inform them of her breakfast preferences, being vegan. The owner was very accommodating and basically said what would you like and I'll get it. On arrival, we were welcomed into the guest house and shown to our room. The room was a good size, with double bed, wardrobe, television, tea/coffee making facilities and a spacious bathroom with shower. After a comfortable night sleep, we went to breakfast at around 8am. The breakfast room was pleasant and welcoming. We were immediately offered tea / coffee and the owner remembered my wife was vegan. The vegan cooked breakfast was 10 out of 10. I am not vegan, so I enjoyed the full Irish breakfast which I must say was also exceptional. We would definitely stay here again in future. Thank you!

We stay here on our yearly visit to Castlebar and are always well looked after by the very friendly hosts Oonagh and Des.
It's in a great location in the town walking distance to almost everything but equally important it has ample free parking.
The rooms are very good containing flat screen TV's and tea and coffee making facilities.
A great Irish breakfast is available but also a good choice of fruits, cereals and yoghurts.
Overall a great choice and you will be well looked after.

A warm welcome, comfy beds and a hearty breakfast. What more could you want?
Our hosts, Oonagh & Des, couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. They really do go the extra mile for their guests.
Carragh House itself is a lovely B&B within throwing distance of the bars, restaurants & amenities of Castlebar and a great place to stay when exploring this wonderful part of Ireland.

Cannot recommend highly enough. Stayed recently for a week and both Oonagh and Des were the perfect hosts. Comfortable rooms and wonderful breakfast!! The house is very well situated with all amenities easily within walking distance, not to mention John McHale’s bar handily placed. Oonagh was a fountain of knowledge with regards to where to go and how best to get there. All round a great place to base yourself for touring the area and excellent value for money.
Even Riley the dog was very friendly and greeted us every morning!
Will definitely hope to return in the future, possibly to take a game in when the red and green play!

A very nice B&B. The owners were really friendly and had a positive attitude towards their guests. The room was spacious enough but somewhat impractical; with a little consideration it could be pretty good. The bed was comfortable and wifi good.
