Hi ,my wife and I went out for a meal to the glenside hotel on 12/06/2022.We had an early bird voucher we bought on the 01/03/2020 at the beginning of covid. We told the waitress we Had the voucher but she said it was only worth €42 because the early bird we purchased wasn't available and costs had gone up etc. The cost of a two course meal would be €50.We were disappointed because we had purchased several vouchers but said nothing and excepted it. Two days later I decided to ring the manager who is also the owner and see what he had to say about it,we thought he'd honour the voucher as it was for a two course meal. He insulted me from the start of the conversation,he said the voucher was for a two course early bird menu that is not available,he said what did you expect to get Steak ,I told him that we have been good customer's to the hotel for over 40 years and I took offence to his tone of voice,he said we don't want the likes of you ringing up complaining and if you bring me up all your voucher's I'll give you your money back and you won't have to be a costomer.I was absolutely shocked at been spoken to this way,all I wanted was for him to explain why I purchased something that isn't available for the value I thought it was for. Hotel vouchers are valid for five years but if you purchased a voucher for a meal that is worth €50 five years later it's worth far less. This man has no manners and shouldn't be in a position to deal with the public but unfortunately because he's the owner he can do what he wants, all I can say is with that attitude he won't be in business too long

We had our wedding on Friday 20th of May 2022. It was a wonderful experience. Which went way beyond what we imagined it would be. From our first meeting with Karen and Aogán until the moment we left Saturday afternoon we were treated to an experience that can only be described at 5-Star 🌟 The ceramony was beautifully arranged to a high standard. Our 5 course meal was fantastic and served effortlessly by the hotel's brilliant staff, with a special thanks to Shirley who was one of the very special ladies who helped make our day beyond perfect. The rooms were clean comfortable and classy. It also has a very picturesque garden which is perfect for children to play and adult's to relax. It was without doubt a 5-Star experience would highly recommend for your wedding day, just as you want it ❤️ Robert & Pauline

We had my sons communion in the Glenside on Saturday may 21st. I just wanted to give a mention to staff on the day in Henry’s restaurant. They were fantastic and very attentive. We had a member of our party who was coeliac and they paid extra attention to her. The food was really lovely from start to finish. I know the pressure that hospitality is under from a staffing point of view but honestly the staff here are a credit to owners and the hotel. Special mention to the Eastern European lady with blonde hair(so sorry for not remembering her name. The lady with the red hair and Vikki) they all made the day for us. Thank you making our sons day even more special

We had my daughters wedding here paddy's day. 2022 original date was paddy's day 2021 I don't where to start or who to start thanking. Everything about this hotel is perfect. If your looking for a perfect wedding do not pass the glenside. Location quite near the airport to. The staff are amazing karen and her team couldn't do enough for us. Felt at home as soon as we arrived. Special thanks to Christine and Anne for saving the day we had a dress emergency and they took over and sorted everything. Jenny where do I start ? Honestly she's now part of my family just brilliant. Jennifer did so much I honestly taught she was the owners daughter. Amazing staff to many to mention. Courtney so helpful The food wow 👌. Beautiful and plentiful you won't go hungry in the glenside. We had the all inclusive package which I'd recommend. Even their supplier's were amazing. The photographer was so helpful. Weather your Irish or looking to have your wedding in Ireland do not pass the glenside I promise you you'll not regret it. It's like Pandora box. Outside looks small. You then walk into the most beautiful friendly hotel. Every single guest commented on how wonderful the hotel is. One of my guests is a beef farmer and said the beef was the nicest beef he had ever tasted. I'd like to thank Lance too for getting us teas and coffee all through the night. As i said every member of staff were amazing. Thanks so much Maria Price Mother of the bride

Stayed for two nights mid-week for a short-hop get-away from home while my husband and I took a mandatory week off work… The hotel is located close to our home, so we were happy it required just a short drive from where we live. First impressions are that the name of the hotel is missing from the front of the building. States just “hotel” – branding requires attention. Check-in was quick and efficient, we were registered and had a room key in no time at all. The rooms are clean but very basic; in fact, they require some work and need updating. Net curtains in 2021, the extractor fan in the bathroom has NOT been cleaned in a very long time, quality of tissues and toiletries is budget but functional. The quality and standard of the rooms don’t reflect the rates charged. Dinner menu is very broad {probably too much – smaller menu and include more fresh food}, served from 4pm to 8pm, food is average, not very hot and arrives too quickly suggesting most elements are pre-prepared. Fairly priced but every element on the plate feels and tastes “pre and or over-cooked”. Breakfast is a continental offering only midweek with full breakfast provided at weekends. Continental options are limited {I called the hotel before our stay to check the offering and told there would be some savoury options such as cheeses, meats, stewed fruit, natural yoghurt etc. but none of that was offered on the menu}. Do NOT order the pancakes; they are certainly not homemade as implied, certainly shop bought and reheated in a microwave {they are not even hot and when I asked for honey, there is none! What hotel does not have honey in stock?} I ordered and could not eat them… however, the pastries are of good quality – my husband had on both mornings and commented they were fresh and enjoyed them. Full breakfast offering is decent and served very hot on warmed plates {I ordered poached eggs, instead of fried eggs, but both arrived hard boiled so don’t bother; stay with the fried option}. The inconsistencies are comical – the first morning we were served chilled bottled juice, following morning glasses of warm juice. Coffee quality differs depending on who makes it and staff happily chat about work generally, college projects in the dining area while guests are eating breakfast {very unprofessional} … we heard about what’s happening with Mr X’s two kids, what they are doing, why the kids are doing X and Y etc. Guests should not hear this during a hotel stay. Staff are very friendly; every member of the team we met throughout our stay, including the night managers were convivial and accommodating. No complaints with this element at all.

Dear Elaine, Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review of your recent stay. I am sorry to read that your experience was not up to your expectations and we will certainly take all of your comments on board. We are in a transition period between covid restrictions which is why some of our services are not back in full operation. We hope to be able to offer full Irish breakfast on a daily basis when we get back to more normal times. We are also mid renovations. We have just completed a full revamp of our Garden Lounge & Grill, reception areas and bedroom hallway during lockdown. The next phase of renovations are taking place in November in our function room after which we hope to give our bedrooms a facelift. Our restaurant Henrys & wedding suite hallway was fully renovated pre Covid. We are proud to say that our team are a welcoming and friendly bunch of people. I understand that you would prefer not to hear all about their college life and children so will ensure that they keep their chatter to a more suitable subject matter! Our pancakes are in fact homemade and certainly not shop bought but we will ensure to stock up on some honey to keep our customers sweet! All of our menu items on our dinner menu are cooked to order by the freshest of local ingredients. Our chefs are extremely busy at weekends and therefore can prepare & serve most items on our menu very quickly. Once again thank you for the feedback. We hope to welcome you back sometime in the future. Kind Regards, Karen
