Detailed Reviews
I had the pleasure of staying in the Spoon and the Stars and I really enjoyed my stay. I stayed in the 10 bed dorm and I always had a good night's sleep. The dorm was kept very clean as were the showers and toilets. The hostel is very well managed by friendly and polite staff. I always felt welcome and getting a hello seemed to be just part of the service. I recommend the Spoon to anyone.

We booked too see the historical town of Drogheda and to venture into Dublin to explore. Spoon and the Stars is very welcoming with a great host and vibe!
Boutique and travelled yet very homely, we met some great people whilst there. Clean double en-suite room with kitchen facilities it was perfect for us and comfy.
Fantastic location just a short walk to bus and train stations. For Airport, Dublin and other local towns. It’s also next to Enterprise so hiring a car was not a problem if you fancied sight seeing into countryside etc.
Short walk into the centre with some great choices of bars and restaurants. Favourite being traditional Irish pubs; Carberry's (Tí Chairbre) and Clarke & Sons.
Fully recommended! xx

I have never felt more genuinely cared for as a solo female traveler. I had an issue where another guest made me very uncomfortable, and the owner personally gave me a refund, removed the man from the premises, and reported his misbehavior. Everyone was so kind, the other guests were friendly, and the beds were comfortable. Be aware, there are a lot of stairs. But I cannot recommend this location highly enough, especially for solo females.

€100 for a small double room with a shared toilet and shower room experience for Drogheda and a “continental breakfast” is overpriced.
The “continental breakfast” was cereal. Instant coffee, eggs in the fridge if ya want to make them yourself.
That’s not a continental breakfast. No food to grab and go lol yoghurts, scones, bagels, croissants, pain au chocolat etc.
And was told breakfast was over (even though it was before 10am.
Noisy Dublin road outside so bring ear plugs.
They need to keep an eye on toilet roll levels better.
Showers and toilets modern enough.

Upon arrival my husband was charged 240euro for a double room for two nights. We were shown to a quirky room (toilet chairs?) and interesting antiques. However, once we arrived there were six flies! The next day I couldn’t bear it and asked the cleaner for a fly killer..the cleaner kindly sprayed the room on the second day… I didn’t feel very clean to be honest. After attending a wedding, we arrived at 11pm and couldn’t open the lock digit to open the door because it gets changed daily. I would have thought they’d changed the code in the morning not during the afternoon when we were out. I think for 120euros I wouldn’t stay there for hygiene reasons and lack of light /aircon again. However it’s near the bus terminal. I’m hoping we can get part refund… I didn’t sleep very well. Cleaner and kitchen maid kind though.

Spoon and the Stars is great! Our private room was fantastic. The shared spaces are cute and quaint. The woman at the front desk was very friendly, informative and accommodating. I definitely recommend if you need lodging in Drogheda!

I stayed at spoon and the stars on several occasions during 2023 in both mixed dorm and private room. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, and the bathrooms were always clean. The staff were very helpful and the common rooms were very inviting. The location is a near a bus stop and a shopping mall, which is a plus. Overall I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re in Drogheda or wanting to visit Newgrange nearby.

For starters or original room was double booked! Walked in on another couple in bed and gave them the fight of their lives! Couldn't get in contact with the owner then because they were unreachable on the number provided. We were lucky that we bumped into some sort of "friend" of their's that stay's there regularly. I say friend because the guy was drinking and definitely not working there, but somehow knew the staff, and could reach someone on their personal number.
Our new room then was awful!! Very small, stuffy and cramped! The door isn't even a standard height! It also smelled dusty and mouldy. The mattress felt uneven because I'm pretty sure the bed is broken underneath. Couldn't sleep a wink. Had an event on the next day and I was shattered for it.
Also there was no breakfast the next day. Kitchen was closed after we were told it was going to be open from 8am to 10am.

You were shown the wrong room by a previous staff member who is no longer with us. It was a superior room and more expensive so you were not happy because you chose the cheaper option. I spoke with you on departure and you were happy. Argo

Picked this place being not far from New Grange and the airport and it´s ok for one night, but really nothing special.
We had a double room, it was ok, but very used and not super clean.
Staff was friendly though.

Hi, For some reason, I didn't get notified about this, as I'd have responded immediately. Anyway, it's too late now, but for future ref, if you email the owner (lovely chap called Rory), he will be more than happy to tell you the rates, and you might try haggling a little, as he is very amenable. Once again, apologies for not seeing this/being made aware of it, at the time.
Hi,
We have one parking spot right outside and otherwise there is street parking 100meters up the road beside the railway bar. Let us kniw if you need any more info. Thank you
