Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For starters or original room was double booked! Walked in on another couple in bed and gave them the fight of their lives! Couldn't get in contact with the owner then because they were unreachable on the number provided. We were lucky that we bumped into some sort of "friend" of their's that stay's there regularly. I say friend because the guy was drinking and definitely not working there, but somehow knew the staff, and could reach someone on their personal number. Our new room then was awful!! Very small, stuffy and cramped! The door isn't even a standard height! It also smelled dusty and mouldy. The mattress felt uneven because I'm pretty sure the bed is broken underneath. Couldn't sleep a wink. Had an event on the next day and I was shattered for it. Also there was no breakfast the next day. Kitchen was closed after we were told it was going to be open from 8am to 10am.

I stay here nearly every time I come to Ireland. Close to the airport and many points of interest. That aside, this hostel is clean and comfortable with kitchen equipped with anything you need. The owners are always improving on the place so the bathrooms and showers are new and very well done.

We booked too see the historical town of Drogheda and to venture into Dublin to explore. Spoon and the Stars is very welcoming with a great host and vibe! Boutique and travelled yet very homely, we met some great people whilst there. Clean double en-suite room with kitchen facilities it was perfect for us and comfy. Fantastic location just a short walk to bus and train stations. For Airport, Dublin and other local towns. It’s also next to Enterprise so hiring a car was not a problem if you fancied sight seeing into countryside etc. Short walk into the centre with some great choices of bars and restaurants. Favourite being traditional Irish pubs; Carberry's (Tí Chairbre) and Clarke & Sons. Fully recommended! xx

I had the pleasure of staying in the Spoon and the Stars and I really enjoyed my stay. I stayed in the 10 bed dorm and I always had a good night's sleep. The dorm was kept very clean as were the showers and toilets. The hostel is very well managed by friendly and polite staff. I always felt welcome and getting a hello seemed to be just part of the service. I recommend the Spoon to anyone.

We stayed at the S&S for the week of the Fleadh. The location is handy, the rooms were comfortable and clean, the common rooms were accessible and well kept, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Thanks so much to all the staff there. We'll look forward to visiting again!

I came across the above budget hostel from searching Trip Advisor "Hostels in Drogheda".All in all I can say I was very happy with my find. The hostel is kept to a high standard and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.Located within walking distance of the train station (5 / 7 minutes walk) on route to the town.I have no hesitation in recommending the above to fellow travelers and to my friends.

We visited this hostel to meet up with our German choir friends who were on an exchange with the Tredagh Singers. There was a large group of us, some in shared dorms with iron bunk beds, some like us in en-suite rooms. Our bed was very comfortable and yes, the showers are great. This hostel is very well maintained by staff who welcomed everyone. The hostel attracts guests from all over the world. There is a nice back yard lit with fairy lights and mostly undercover with a huge awning. Some inevitable drips from the rain but a nice place to hang out. The breakfast is help yourself, healthy and plentiful. There are plenty of facilities to cook and store your provisions. I was glad not to be staying in the dorms but the youngsters did not complain. Some issues with traffic noise at the front and smokers using the back yard. Staff were kind, easy going yet keep a tight ship with clear rules regarding no substances. There is no bar, but a great kitchen with huge shared table and a lounge with Wi Fi TV. The hostel is about 10 mins walk from the bus station and 5 mins from the train station. It is easy to walk Into town and there are simple restaurants and takeaways nearby. We liked the Railway pub and nearby Indian restaurant. Drogheda is a good base to visit attractions nearby with good train and bus services. Direct express bus, 100X to and from Dublin airport.

Stayed here before and after I was locked out of my Apartment in Drogheda. It was a safe(r) space than the Apartment for a while. It's a cool enough building, with decent people running it. I felt safe(r) there.
