My daughter and her college friends stayed during summer 2021 and they found everything to be clean, spacious and in good working order and had a great time. So for Mothers Day she booked for the two of us, using her own money, and when I read the reviews I was dreading i to be honest. However, we arrived and got a space in the car park, went up to reception and a nice man gave us the cards for room 216 and we headed up wondering what we would find. 😀

I have to say, we were both pleasantly surprised to find a very clean, yet compact, double room, large bathroom, radiator was on, all lights and sockets worked, it was grand for the one night. The window is a bit dodgy and took a bit of twisting to close it but look, the room was cheap. We met lovely housekeepers who held lifts for us and the reception staff could not have been more friendly. The lift and staircases were spotlessly clean. No smell of smoke or the sound of kitchen fans keeping us awake. I would just say that the hand sanitiser stations could do with refilling, but I suppose it's not compulsory for hotels to have them any more.. We ate up the road at Hamptons, drank in the Savoy and had brunch at House. Both within easy walking distance, literally 2 minutes away.

I liked it for what it was, and more importantly, had a lovely Mother's Day with my daughter.

I felt lucky I was on my own as the room space was tiny. The bathroom wasn’t the greatest in terms of lighting, the shower head I couldn’t reach, no mixer tap... The TV is tiny for where it’s positioned, you can access the wardrobe if someone is sat on the desk... anyway, not the most modern place, but suitable for one night in your own.

Breakfast was really standard.

Oh and I don’t think I would return as there was no parking available.

The Pier Hotel offered a comfortable stay in the city centre. I was fortunate to have a room overlooking River Shannon with King John's Castle in the background.
There are WiFi and lifts available. Unfortunately no breakfast option was available at the time of my visit due to Covid regulations.
Parking available at Howley’s Quay Car Park.

This hotel was so awful that we cancelled our booking for a second night as soon as we arrived. Then, we were charged for a two night stay, instead of just one, PLUS another one night stay! When I contacted the hotel I was told I had cancelled too late to warrant a refund (I cancelled the second night well within the time period allowed). I reiterated that I had effectively been charged for three nights instead of just one, and was told that the. Accounts person would only be able to look at it on Monday (I phoned the previous Thursday, was promised a call back - which I didn’t get, so phoned again on Friday). I then decided to get Booking.com involved, as I had booked (and cancelled) through them. I was then contacted by the hotel and told I would receive a refund for two nights, which I am happy to say has been done. However, I can’t help feeling that if I had not contacted Booking.com it is very probable I would not have been refunded.
As for the actual hotel, it was very dated, smelly, the room overlooked a garbage covered roof, the tv was the size of a smallish computer monitor, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, and the bed linen had definitely seen better days. The only redeeming feature is the walk over the bridge and along the River to cross back over the River, you pass King John’s Castle and St.Mary’s, and there is a lovely little pub called Katy Daly’s Heritage Pub and Kitchen. We had a very good meal there (the pub and restaurant in the hotel were closed due to COVID), and enjoyed the added bonus of a banjo and fiddle duo providing live music. The highlight of our stay in Limerick!

This crowd wouldn't organise a piss up in a brewery, we rang them, booking 2 rooms, one double room and a family room. We asked them beforehand did the family room sleep 4 people and they said yes so we went ahead with that and arrived to the hotel only to find out that the family room only had 3 single beds and the double room was a disgrace, no beds dressed, dirty bed covers, dirty towels thrown on the ground, it was a joke. They gave us another room with 2 double beds for the "same price" to make up for the big inconvenience but they had the cheek to take an additional 100 euro out of our card the day after we had checked out. I'll never stay in this kip again. Having the nerve and cheek to take more money out of our card after we were told we'd be changed to another room for the same price. Can see why this place is cheap. You get what you pay for at the end of the day, you'll be screwed over in the end. Avoid this place with your life!!

We were due to stay at this hotel in a few weeks time & had booked a room prior to the Ed Sheeran show dates being announced, meaning that we had paid the lower rate. We were informed that our reservation had been cancelled with no given explanation. We can only assume that the accommodation has noticed the nightly rate we were paying and seen they can exploit the number of guests looking to stay in Limerick & therefore cancelled us in order to make more money off of another guest.

Charged €115 for a double room, very small, shower didn’t work freezing cold water. no food available when we checked in at 6pm on a Saturday night. One extremely small tight parking space left so had to go to neighbouring multi-storey. Good location but would only stay if absolutely necessary again

Appalling customer service, dishonest and non existent communication! Booked the pier hotel in Limerick for 11 nights in August.

2 double rooms booked well in advance.

Without an explanation the hotel has cancelled booking and has refused to reply to emails requesting further information.

Can only think they’ve got a better offer and don’t think customer service matters or they may have contacted me 1st to explain the situation.

I’m now left the situation where I have my travel range to Limerick and nowhere to stay, everywhere else seems to be full.

I assume they have realised the Lacrosse world championships are being held and can make a bigger buck from other customers which the other hotels also seem to be doing.

Regardless, communication would at least help explain their shoddy management.

Wouldn’t book here unless you can afford to change your plans at short notice shocking shocking shocking.

When I arrived I didn't get the room I payed for so I went down to complain was then told I had to wait 2hours for the room to be 'cleaned'. Once I got to my new room there were chips on the floor, dust everywhere, windows were disgusting , what looked like ketchup smeared on one of the walls and the shower was broken and flooded the bathroom. I just decided to clean the room myself cause I didn't want to keep complaining. Once I got into bed my friend pointed out that there was a stain on my duvet cover, after further investigation we realised there was a giant red stain on the actual duvet, I called down to reception and explained my discovery and was told there was no spare duvets so for my 5 night stay I had no duvet because there was no way I was gonna use that. Even though this is a cheap hotel this place is definitely not worth the money and I will not be staying here again!
