The service by staff particularly Arthur, Cormac and Toma was exceptional. The food in the Yew restaurant was incredible and the grounds were very nice to cycle around however that's where it stops. Got upgraded to an Executive room, the phone didn't work, toilet seat was broken, coffee machine was terrible, iron was awful as was hair dryer. Rang down off my personal phone to get an ice bucket, 40minutes later had to call again and found out the bucket was taken to incorrect room. Whilst at dinner in the Yew there was a large Hen party which were very loud and annoying. For the main restaurant in a 5star hotel this is not what you expect. One woman from the party was walking around with her heels in her hands and in her bare feet. The leisure centre is just awful, changing rooms you wouldn't find in a run down gym. There was a cigarette lighter on the side of the jacuzzi. I wouldn't advise anymore to use it. All in all for me this is not a 5 star hotel, really disappointed for what it cost us to stay here.…
We recently attended a function in the hotel and came away reluctant to recommend the hotel to anyone else. Any hotel of quality should be able to provide good quality tea and coffee-not even after dinner did it improve from the grey colour presented (and no it was not Earl Grey or another speciality tea!). The canapes at the reception were few and far between which meant many guests got none. They were served by the waiting staff walking in the same route each time which meant guests in other connecting rooms didn't even see them as they were always gone by then. When asked, a manager told a guest that when the canapes were gone they were gone!!! A little thought would have sorted this one. The reception drinks drop was staffed by one person who could never serve, collect empties and refill from the kitchen on his own, consequently the guests had to wait or serve themselves. This is basic management stuff. Guests who were seated at a table in the main reception area were asked to move because they were blocking the way to the hallway. Unfortunately the hotel manager didn't seem to realise it was the hotel staff that had put the furniture there in the first place. Her manner did not p;romote good customer relations either. There is a marked slope/ramp down to the main function room which doesn't appear to have a lift facility. This made for some mobility issues for older guests. As a larger function is likely to have someone in this category it might be thoughtful of the hotel to at least point it out to potential clients and let them be aware of it for their guests. Our Starter and Main course were nice but nothing stunning. Our Creme Brulee was not restaurant quality-more like Birds Custard from the carton with the minimum of Brulee on top and only just covering the base of the dish. Since we were there we have heard others mention that at separate functions, over the past few years, there were no canapes/poor tea/coffee/no vegetable/potatoes served despite asking. All round very poor value for the amount of money paid and most disappointing when these are all very fixable issues. Food and beverages are such an integral part of entertaining your guests that I would hope the hotel takes these points on board. There is no point having a lovely exterior when the basics are poor. Potential customers do speak to each other and most do not wish to feel they wasted their money. Having had the above experience we were quite relieved not to have paid to stay overnight.…
I called here in mid May and my lunch booking was handled by Laura who is super-professional. When I arrived I was greeted by Toma & Aoife - well, I have to say that this dynamic duo deserve endless praise and thanks. The food was first class and from beginning to end Lyrath doesn’t fail to impress.
I can safely saw the the dinner in the Yew restaurant as part of our stay package was the best food I’ve eaten in a hotel in Ireland. It really was that good. So why 4 stars. A few things. The staff taking order arrangement the bar leaves a lot to be waited. One waiter would not always a drinks order from us. Yet he took an order later from someone who was having food which we just finished. Go figure. Secondly the layout of the yew restaurant for dinner is the same as for breakfast and doesn’t work. There needs to be a cosier more intimate layout with tasteful dividers between diners. The excellent food was let down by layout. Finally, to get breakfast you are greeted by a fab host who checks you are ok to go and then leaves his station to bring you to the table. Everyone gets this treatment. It’s a time delay at a busy time and unnecessary for breakfast. I’d certainly go back. If the above was rectified it would be a nobrainer 5 stars.…
First time in Lyrath and we had the most fantastic stay! We got a complete surprise at check in by getting a room upgrade! The staff were so so lovely and food was gorgeous. Can’t wait to go back and will bring our 14 month next time as it seems so child friendly.
Myself and a couple friends visited the spa. My therapist was Jacinta. Jacinta made the whole experience amazing! She was just so lovely! I had a mini facial and back neck and shoulder massage which was fab! Thanks Jacinta! Dined in the bar afterwards and it was very good. Will definitely come back to stay
My friends and I decided to visit this establishment for breakfast. We heard of how great the staff were and weren’t disappointed when we were greeted by a waiter called Luke; professional, kind and a real gent, he made our visit memorable and one of a kind. The food was great, timely and tasty! Would recommend if all the staff are as welcoming as young Luke! He is a credit to the organisation and to society as a whole! :) Will definitely be back again soon!
Check in was busy as there was a wedding as well. Room was lovely and fresh and clean, bed was fabulous. We went to have pre dinner drinks and a lady, brought us to table in the conservatory outside of Tuppers Bar, we felt like we were a nuisance to her, the area was cold and after sitting there for 18 mins, my husband went to find someone to take an order ( table service only due to covid). My husband got a flat pint, he drank a bit and then asked for a different beer, this too was flat, despite telling the staff member, we were charged for both drinks. We went upstairs for dinner and being in a 5 star said we would treat ourselves to a Denber steak which costs 90euro. A better pint was served here. The steak was only okay at best but absolutely no where near that price. We were asked during our meal if everything was OK and we noted our thoughts to him, he didn't appear to know how to react so just stood there making us feel awkward. I felt the need to say something at this point and said " I don't feel this food is going to win any awards and I'm just merely answering a question you asked. I'm not complaining" he walked away and clearly mentioned this to other staff members. The poor girl who went to take the payment for the bill looked terrified. She was a very sweet person. Anyway we went to the lobby, Ross was playing, the beer was great for my husband, the service was top notch, we had a fantastic night...thanks, check out was seamless and the girl that checked us out on the morning of the 30th of January last was excellent, a credit to the hotel, she recommended we walk the old part of the Manor, which I did and it didn't disappoint. …
My husband and I were very much looking forward to staying here for the Easter Weekend and it was a such let down to say the least. First of all, we arrived on Friday and had to ask for our room to be cleaned on Sunday evening as no one cleaned it before then! Thought this was a bit much ! 5 star hotel and we were left with no clean towels, full bins, and no toilet roll. One member of staff was rude to us and the pool was cold. Before we were leaving to return home , my husband told a member of staff that we were checking out soon ;and that I was feeding our 13 week old baby in the room but we would still be on time to check out at 12. The girl was very nice and reassured him that we could ‘take our time ‘ so that’s what we did. When we checked out, the lady at reception then informed my husband that there was an additional charge because we had a late check out and we were charged an extra €50 for this ! This was never mentioned when he was told ‘we could take our time and feed the baby’. I’m only sorry we paid it . My husband rang the hotel the evening we got home to tell them what had happened and we still have not received a call back. Very unprofessional, way overpriced and definitely not a five star hotel! Won’t be going back or recommending this hotel to anyone.…
I wanted to stay at this hotel but had a few questions about the different rooms and rates. I explained to the girl that I was thinking of booking for the next day. She couldn't answer my questions but took my name, email and number and said that someone would ring me back. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for the call...
