Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the WORST hotel experiences that we have ever had. Extensive mold inside and outside the shower (see photos). The hot water valve in sink did not work. The room was cold..I tried to adjust the valve on the radiator but no luck. I tried to call the main desk but the phone fell apart. I went down to the lobby and I was informed that they had to turn on the radiator from the front desk for us to get heat.. The hotel lets the guests freeze to save money! The bed linens were changed and the new set of sheets had a big stain on them. (see photo). There were considerable loud noises during the day that greatly disturbed us as we were trying to sleep after a long overnight flight. The room cost $200/night. We asked for an adjustment in the rate to compensate for the filth, noise and problems, The Manager refused to make any reduction in the rate.

Large room, Comfortable beds, great location. Easy to walk to many sights and pubs. Parking was provided which isnt always the case. Having a pub right downstairs is always a plus. Attentive staff. Cant go wrong.

Comfortable room and suited our needs with free car parking. Bathroom sink could do with a thorough clean. Fire alarm went off in morning due to some idiot smoking in their room. No real response from guests or staff until we enquired at desk!

I would not recommend the Kilford Arms to guests. The common areas are a bit shabby, with worn carpets and scuffed walls. The room is small and not particularly pleasant. The staff seems indifferent. Breakfast is not included. There are better options.

My goodness , this must be the most depressing hotel in Ireland . No welcome from reception , staff all roaming around frowning and looking lost. Horrible atmosphere , no wonder they are offering cheap deals. The management either haven't a clue or don't care about running a hotel properly . In fairness, the food was decent and a good portion but when it's slapped down on the table it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. I don't think anyone would ever come back, we certainly won't be. Also the room we were given was a mile away from the lift and above the main road. Never got a winks sleep all night due to party goers and traffic. Informed receptionist next day and was told it would be quieter tonight. I asked to change room and she reluctantly agreed. Customer service in this country is non existent . Upon checkout we expected to be asked how was our stay. They never even bothered to ask. Sadly I think this hotel will be in trouble down the line, avoid if you want to enjoy Kilkenny.

Great experience, very friendly staff on reception. Room was very clean and modern. Breakfast I could take or leave. Again very friendly but if it’s not included in your room rate I wouldn’t recommend paying for it. All in a great stay and I’d recommend for families or couples. Also, close to the train station and very well located for exploring the city.

We stayed in the Kilford Arms from 05-07/09/23 and have to say it was a very enjoyable stay. The staff are so friendly and courteous and make you feel at home. We would highly recommend this place to stay. A big thank you to Sophia for her attention for our evening meal. She was a credit to herself and nothing was a problem

Very good hotel in an excellent location, just about a 7 minute walk from the train station and a 10 minute walk from downtown. Was very happy with the amenities and the staff was very nice. The bar downstairs is also a solid option for lunch; the bangers and mash were quite good in particular.
