Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was in Springhill hotel Kilkenny early January this year ,during that particular visit I became unwell .To say that members of staff particularly those who work in swimming pool were brilliant is an understatement. Thanks to their quick thinking and that of the rest of the clients in the area ,the result could have been a lot worse .So thank you to everyone from a very grateful client .I would recommend this hotel to everybody and especially the leisure center area .

Myself & my family have stayed here on numerous occasions over the years and have always enjoyed our stay. I had a booking booked for myself and my wife recently,we where looking forward to our stay as we regularly visit Kilkenny love the place. But a week before our booking which was a Friday & Saturday night,I was rang by the hotel to tell me they where cancelling our booking as they where taking in Ukrainians… Now I’ve no issue with Ukrainians but think this sort of carry on is contributing the already sky high hotel prices!! We where left having to completely cancel our trip as there where no other hotels available,we’ll there was but wanted €700 for 2 nights. The hotel receptionist offered me the Monday & Tuesday night ….that wasn’t possible without taking 3 days of work.. Wasn’t offered anything else but to be honest I’d have zero interest in ever staying there again . Hotels should be hotels not refuge centres

After working outside in the rain all day we were looking forward to staying in a nice warm comfortable hotel with a hot shower warm meal and a few drinks. The Restaurant was closed the bar was closed the room was freezing the shower was cold. We could get a drink sent to the room couldn’t drink it it was stinking. The breakfast the next morning was ordered for us and was horrible. We spent €200 for a horrible night. When brought to the manager she old had excuses about anything that was wrong. We got no apologies or offered some of our money back. The manager had no management skills or customer service just too busy making excuses and push blame onto her guests. Such a shame as the actual hotel was decent and could be booming under the right management Do not waste your money on this hotel you’ll get a proper ran hotel for the same money or you’d get better service in a b&b for half the price.

I don’t normally get time to leave reviews but we had such a fabulous time in The SpringHill Hotel and the staff took such good care of us (in particular Emma Jayne, Avril and Marie) that I couldn’t not give them and this beautiful venue a mention. Myself and my partner attended a wedding here and ended up staying two extra days as we both agreed it was a 10 out of 10 ⭐️ experience from start to finish. The rooms, the food and the staff were just top class. We didn’t want to leave and will certainly be back.

We stayed here for three nights. On arrival, receptionist was nice and welcoming but then we went to our room. The room was tiny, carpets were stained, bathroom was filthy. My husband found a bra under one of the beds and there were blood stains all over the sheets. He brought the bra down to reception and all we got was a simple apology. We knew the hotel was looking after non paying guests, however we naively thought that they would be separate from paying guests. This was not the case, they were everywhere. Their kids were running up and down the hallways until midnight, the coffee dock wasn’t open and the bar closed at 11 every night, unless you were a non paying guest! We attended a wedding in the Langton hotel (absolutely fabulous hotel which unfortunately had no free rooms as we checked!!!), we got back to the Springhill just after 11pm with our autistic son. My husband went to the bar to get a jug of water and was told “the bars closed” my husband explained that all he wanted was a jug of water for our son, the barman agreed to give it to him and whilst he was getting it a Non paying woman came in to the bar. The barman told her they were closed, to which she replied “I want beer”. The barman said ok and proceeded to serve her!!!! Breakfast was ok, but never once were we greeted by staff or asked for our room number. It was a case of find a free table that wasn’t occupied by non paying guests in their pyjamas. Room service was non existent and the tv stopped working on day 2. Any time we had a shower (in a bathroom that you could go to the toilet, wash your hands and have a shower all at once in it was that small) the bathroom floor flooded. The hotels only saving grace was their pool. The staff were lovely and the water was lovely and cool. I would strongly advise any families considering staying here to think again. We have nothing against the Non paying guests and our hearts go out to the children but this hotel will treat you as second class to the Non paying guests. They should not be taking on paying guests whilst they are nearly full with Non paying guests . We saved for months for our holiday and this hotel has left a bitter taste in our mouths. We’d love to go back to Kilkenny but it’s safe to say we will never go back to the Springhill Court Hotel.

For a family of 5, rooms are rubbish - small room with little space. All rooms seem to be the same size whether you are a family or couple. We did not get great value for money and I would not recommend this Hotel in Kilkenny

Shoddy stay. Arrived on 22nd June for 2 nights stayed 1 and booked out. Went to paddock bar at 19.20 to be told kitchen closes at 19.30 lovely girl managed to get us food. Then told bar closes at 21.00 and you can sit in residents bar where children are running everywhere. Man on reception had to open bar and didn't know how to make a Smithwicks shandy partner had to show him. It's a farce, we always stay here but doubt if we will return. Very dissapointed as we went for a friend's birthday which is today and the whole experience was just bad.

My friend had Booked this hotel in December 2021 for a group of 25 friends, everything was booked and paid for i.e transport/ activities just to name a few, bus was non refundable which was €1500, we rang the hotel the start of may and to our dismay they told us our rooms were cancelled and that was that, didn’t have anything organised for us or wouldn’t assist us in finding somewhere else and it’s too late now to find somewhere now, I would highly recommend not staying in this hotel as they are not reliable, if I could give no star on this place I would……. A place not to be booked….stay clear

Some staff are really nice. Was overcharged, someone else was given our food. There is alot of Ukraine staying in hotel, have nothing against this but children are doing knick nacks on doors, following us in the playground, sitting out in corridors and running a muck. This is not fair on paying customers

Arrived in the paddock bar in which we waited to be seated, we then took a seat after a couple of staff had noticed us but we were not greeted. After a length of time we had then realised that seven staff were standing around the bar empty handed talking amongst one another, to make things worse one staff member had made eye contact with us numerous times but still no attempt was made to even give us menus. We then took it upon ourselves to go up and ask to be looked after in which we were. The food arrived relatively quick but we were certainly not impressed by the portion size. As we had already gone for a swim in their leisure centre, we were craving a good feed. We ordered two goujons and chips expecting a decent sized portion, what we got was quite the opposite it resembled a portion from the kids menu. To our amazement the bill came to €17, we had asked for the bill but once again, still ended up having to the bar. We are highly unhappy with the service provided as well as the food/pricing. We both genuinely left still feeling hungry. I can guarantee we won’t be back or recommending any time soon. I know a lot of places in Kilkenny in which you could get a bigger portion for that price.
