Nestled in the heart of Kilkenny, the Hibernian Hotel emerges as a favorite for its central location, making it an ideal base for exploring the city's attractions. The rooms receive compliments for their cleanliness and comfort, although a few guests have noted issues with noise and outdated style. While opinions on value vary, the amenities, including a praised breakfast and live music events, contribute to a positive experience. The hotel is in such a great location, conveniently located about 5 mins (probably less) from the Castle and no more than 10 mins walking anywhere else in the town. The bar and restaurant downstairs has live Irish music which was a pleasant surprise! Also Embers is attached to it as well and has an amazing breakfast (included dependent on the rate you booked) and I heard great things about the dinner as well. Right across the street is Left Bank which is an amazing gastropub for watching various sporting events. Highly recommend!

My Stay at The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel was a Wonderful Experience. From The Front Desk Staff to The Restaurant Team, Nothing was to great for the Staff who made my Stay In Kilkenny, a wonderful memorable Experience. The Kilkenny Hibernian is Centrally located in the Centre of town with the Castle just a stones throw away, with great Restaurants and pubs close by. I highly recommend the Field and lanicans for great live music along with The Kyteler inn close by. For those looking for a great Stay in Kilkenny look no further than The Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel you will no be disappointed. I look forward to a future Visit In Kilkenny.

When we arrived in Kilkenny, we knew our first stop would be the hotel to drop our bags (since we were well early before check in time). When we approached the hotel, we realized that it was centrally located and very nice without being overly fancy or too expensive. After our Castle tour, we returned to the hotel to check in and again (in Kilkenny) the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Our room was facing the side street and was overall very clean and nice. It was on the 1st floor but in the states, it would be considered the 2nd floor as the actual first floor is called the "ground floor". This meant unfortunately when people were seated below us at the restaurant patio outside, sometimes their cigarette smoke would waft into our room. It wasn't so bad but the street noise was problematic... Even though we went to bed after 10pm and we only stayed one night on a Sunday night, the music from the Left Bank was so loud that we had trouble sleeping, even after closing the windows. Had it not been for these two aspects, we would have really loved the hotel room and found that it was clean and comfortable.

We had some bottled (non-plastic) waters in the room, and iron, hair dryer, comfortable beds, etc.

The hotel bar (The Brasserie) was also advertising live music, so we checked that out too. It was very nice inside but the music wasn't quite loud enough for us to fully enjoy so we called it quits after a round of drinks.

Beautiful small hotel,.located in perfect spot central to kilkenny Town. Lovely simple classic room. The only problem with the room was that the ceiling fan didn't work, so a small plug-in fan was in the room. This only cooled the space right in front of it. The room was like a sauna all the time we were in the room. We spoke to other guests who said the same. The staff were fantastic, helpful, pleasant and friendly. There is no parking at the hotel so took a mark off for that and heat in the room. There is a car park 2 mins away that cost €15.50 for 24 hour parking. If you stayed longer, the car Park had a discount route you just let the car park staff know. The hotel bar had lovely music the night we stayed, and there are some fantastic pubs near by with great music. The castle is 5 min walk and lovely location. A hotel that would be nice to go back to.

This hotel captures the spirit of kilkenny with beautiful authenic decor to the creamy cold pints alongside the craic and traditional Irish music, Such a talented family! .. Whether you are dining in their scrumious brasserie restaurant with delicious food or from the bar menu both are absolute top quality. The bedrooms are comfortable, spacious with all you could possibly need and the softest bed & pillows to lay your weary head at the end of an incredible day. Start your day with a power shower then feast on the hearty breakfast , the staff are so attentive and nothing is too much trouble. From the reception desk we were made to feel so welcome, All of the staff in every area this hotel is suberb and I recommend it to all. You wont be dissapointed.
This deserves 5 Stars!

First the good. Food is excellent. Staff tries hard. Room was clean. But…. The past week in Ireland has been very warm. Note that the rooms are not air conditioned. They are stifling hot. To make matters worse, the windows only open about 3 inches. The hotel provided two very small fans, but the cords are so short that you can’t put them in front of the windows. Next onto the bathrooms. You could flush five times and still not get the “stuff” to go down. And you need to wait each time for the tank to fill. There’s a light that flashes on and off for no reason at all. The jetted tub doesn’t work either. We alerted mgmt about this within hours of arrival and nothing was done. Very very inconvenient.
Additionally, be forewarned. If you are here on a Friday or Saturday, be prepared to stay awake until 2AM. Incredibly loud music from everywhere including the hotel bar. And because windows need to be open, that makes it worse. During the week, you’re awakened at 5:30 AM by the trash and bottle removal trucks. To top it off, our room was directly across from a parking garage whose lights were shining right into the bedroom. Jut to let you know, we had a “deluxe” suite which was pricey. Sorry to say we won’t come back here (and we will be back in Kilkenny soon). There are better places to stay. Our agent has contacted mgmt, but received the usual “it’s not up to our standards” reply.

I am just back from a three night stay in the Hibernian Hotel. It was just terrific. My room was beautiful, I was impressed by the environmentally friendly touches, like the recycle bin and the 5 euro food voucher for not needing fresh towels every day. Breakfast was perfect, and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The Bar had Irish music every night because it is St. Patrick's Week, and the Hotel is right in the middle of the city, with the car park only steps away.
I would recommend it highly and will return.

My stay at Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel was fantastic! Of particular note is the exceptional friendliness and service orientation of the entire team – from the warm welcome to the attentive service throughout our stay we felt well taken care of. The general manager, Mr Greene, has also confirmed this impression.

The hotel itself exudes the charm of a classic grand hotel – stylish, elegant and with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The rooms may not be the most modern, but they exude a wonderful grandezza and offer maximum comfort.

An absolute highlight was the à la carte breakfast: freshly prepared, of excellent quality and with a beautiful selection that left nothing to be desired. In the evening, the hotel's own pub became particularly convivial. The cosy, lively atmosphere, first-class live music and an excellent pint of Guinness made every evening an experience.

We will definitely be back – a clear recommendation for anyone who wants to be welcomed in Kilkenny in style and warmly!

This is the annual trip we look forward to the most. Busy full time working gals and we always make sure to plan well in advance.
We always stay at The Hibernian, its location is the best, great value for money, staff from guest services to chamber maids to the bar and chefs are all exceptional. It's a very welcoming hotel and feels like home away from home and it's spotlessly clean.
See you next year team 👌 and Thank You.

This was our 5th visit to the Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel . It is always a pleasure to visit this City and this particular hotel. The staff are excellent, the reception and check in is very prompt and professional and is a good experience to be made to feel so welcome. The room was very very good. We had the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel and it was very very nice, quiet and extremely comfortable. We had a lovely night's sleep and rest. Breakfast was very very good and the restaurant manager and staff were all very friendly and helpful. We have brought family with us previously and they stayed in the front suites and loved it. We shall certainly be back and will bring some of our friends next time as we have told them how good the hotel is. Hibernian is in a great location in the town. Centrally located and only a 1 minute walk to the Castle and 50 metres to the car park. This is one of my favourite places to visit in Ireland. Well Done to the Management and hotel staff.

Hello, We did not notice any noise from the hotel it's self, but there way some street noise but once we closed the window it was fine. The biggest disturbance for us was the large pub across the road getting a very early morning deliver of beer kegs. Mostly we slept well.
