Visited Hotel Kilkenny this weekend 1st to 3rd Dec with another couple and I must say the hotel was lovely very clean, bed very comfortable reception staff very friendly and helpful, we ate in the bar 2 nights and the food was excellent. We had a small problem with our room & when I reported it to reception it was sorted straight away which I was very impressed with. The only thing i would say is we asked 2 members of bar staff if there was anything going on in Kilkenny that weekend they said they had no idea, we found out ourselves there was plenty going on so maybe staff could have a small brief about what is happening locally nevertheless we will certainly be returning to this hotel we all had a lovely time.

I very rarely leave a review but felt I needed to. This is not a 4 star hotel. Incredibly Dated room. The “ family room” was a tiny standard room that 4 beds ( queen and 3 twins) were shoved into. We were walking over each other.One of the linens had a huge stain. The room felt grimy and dirty . Our rate for this room was $410. Our room was so incredibly hot when we arrived ( I would estimate over 80 degrees) we could not stay in the room. We were told the hotels heat would automatically turn off at 9pm. It was 3:30. They did bring us a fan and service the room to change the linens. Everything about the room was absolutely not ok for a 4 star hotel that charges $410 for a room. It gets two stars because our kids did enjoy the pool, and the staff was very nice and did accommodate us by discounting the room 50% and offered us free dessert. However, this was only after we had to complain. Which I abhor doing. If you are traveling in Kilkenny, I feel your money would be better spent at another hotel. …

Second time at family wedding at hotel kilkenny, first time was good but this time you excelled yourself, the food at wedding the service and friendly staff were excellent, samrme fir breakfast next morning, delicious, friendly staff and quick service, excellent choice in buffet and cooked breakfast, can't wait for next family wedding. We only had a quick 2 night stay at this Hotel. It was very nice, clean and spacious. Unfortunately the air conditioner was not working on the entire floor. They did offer to change rooms after I had complained but we ended up getting a plug in heater. Thankfully it was not cold weather. The car park was full when we arrived and when we asked the reception about overflow parking they just said of there is plenty of parking. So my husband had to wit in the car until someone left. Whilst at the Hotel you have access to the Aquatic Centre located next door (walk via undercover hallway) which is also used by the general public. Very large gym which I used but I did not not use the pool. The breakfast buffet was very small but you could also order something from the menu. Coffee wasn’t very nice though. We also ate dinner at the Hotel which was nice but basic food. Quick dinner service and friendly staff. The Hotel is about 10 mins drive from the city centre.…

Visited Hotel Kilkenny for some food in the bar . Very disappointed with the quality of food and did not match the description on the menu . A bed of crispy salad was in reality 3 half baby tomatos ! When we complained we were told that the chef said that was it !!!! Food was very poor and no wine list available so difficult to choose wine with no price guide resulting in a more expensive bottle than we realised .

We visited Kilkenny this summer and the Hotel Kilkenny was chosen by the travel agency. Having said that, we enjoyed our short stay at the hotel. When we checked in, the process was efficient and we quickly received our room info and key. The staff at the hotel front desk were friendly and helpful. We got to our room and it was clean, and warm due to no air-conditioning but not a big deal. We had our tour meals at the hotel and we found the food to be good and the dining room staff were also friendly. If I were traveling to Kilkenny, I would stay at this hotel again. The only difference between this hotel and the other hotels we stayed at on our tour was this hotel was about a 15 minute walk to the center of town where the majority of the pubs and shops were. Again, no big deal as it would be a short cab ride to the town center.…

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights with family and friends to attend my son's wedding reception which was held in the hotel. I cannot fault our stay. The hotel itself is lovely, the staff working in all areas of the hotel are extremely professional and couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was really enjoyable with plenty of choice and excellent service. The wedding reception was perfect, beautiful reception room, waiting staff attentive, topping up water bottles and wine on the tables when required. One of the nicest meals I think I have ever had, served by very well trained staff. Our whole experience at this hotel made our stay really enjoyable. Thank you so much from us all! We stayed here as part of our “I Love Irish Tour”. Dinners are included. While the food was OK what got me lit was the lack of any bar service at our finner. When I inquired with my waiter about getting a glass of wine, I was told I would need to leave the restaurant and head over to the bar and order it myself. When I inquired at the front desk if they thought this was acceptable for their customers, they quickly said yes. I immediately fired off an email to our tour operator and brought up my issue with the restaurant manager. To their credit they did comp out 15 person party a round of drinks after I wouldn’t let the dog lie. Also, any hotel in 2023 that doesn’t have outlets by the nightstands for our phones gets dinged a star. Hope our Tour operators rethinks their affiliation with this hotel come next summer.…

The nicest hotel and quiet when you have to sleep. Great breakfast, Even for me that cant eat gluten and laktose. They have a swimmingpool, gym and sauna as well there is free to use. And a spa beside, were you can book a time, there you have to Pay though. A decent walk from the dinner city of Kilkenny.

Myself and partner stayed for one night B&B. We paid €330 for deluxe double room. The trip got off to a bad start, the car park was full when we arrived, not a single space available for guests, we spoke with a member of staff who was present in the car park who rudely advised us to “just park across the road”, when we queried whether there was overflow parking for the hotel across the road we were told no just go out and find somewhere else to park! We eventually managed to get a parking spot after about 30 stressful minutes in the cramped carpark. We then proceeded to check in, the checkin time is 4pm and it was 4.30pm when we arrived. We were told by the lady at reception that our room wasn’t ready, I expressed dissatisfaction at this as 4pm is a late check in time by any standard and it was 30 mins passed this time at this stage, nothing was explained to us and we were left standing there for 10 mins when a male who appeared to be a manager came over and made some changes on the computer and we were given room Keys, I presume we were moved to a different room that was ready but there was no explanation or apology. I asked if we could make reservations for breakfast but was told no it was walk in service only. I then asked if we could make reservation for dinner and was told no it was walk in service in the bar only. I asked to make a reservation in the restaurant and was told no it was not open, I asked how it wasn’t opened on a busy Saturday evening and was told it only opened for large pre booked parties so it would seem there is actually no restaurant operating in this hotel despite the welcome email advising that the restaurant opens at 6.30 on Saturday. The room was disappointing and shabby, there was an unpleasant smell on entering the room, the furniture was quite old and dated and in need of updating, most of the tiles in the bathroom were cracked and in need of an update. Overall the standard of the accommodation was not up to the standard I would expect for the price paid, the service was appalling and I would not return to this hotel. There are many fabulous hotels operating in Kilkenny of a much higher standard for the same price point I could have stayed in the Lyrath Estate on the same night and for €5 cheaper and having stayed there multiple times the Lyrath is of a far superior standard In every way.…
