Do not stay in this hotel unless you are apart of the wedding . They put you in the older rooms , which are freezing I had to request a heater when we arrived back from the town at 11pm , smelt of damp . The staff aren’t exactly overly friendly or helpful . I rang and complained that it was 5:30am before it was any way quiet to sleep and I was simply told “ it’s a busy weekend with weddings “ no apologies nothing I asked could we have a late check out and was told no as they had a wedding the next day , They really and truly don’t care if you aren’t part of the wedding party ! The swimming pool is lovely that’s the only positive . Maybe it would be different midweek but they really don’t care if you aren’t part of a wedding .
My husband and I stayed for our friend's wedding in April. When we got to the room there was an awful stench of slurry/rotten milk. We went down to reception and complained told them. The door and window were them left open, 2 hours passed and the smell was still there so we went down to reception and complained, they went and sprayed air freshener around the room. After another hour the smell was as bad as ever so eventually on our third time down to complain they moved us to a different room on a different floor.
This hotel absolutely smashed it out of the park. Phenomenal service, food, accommodation and staff. Very friendly and would highly recommend this place to anybody considering getting married or having their reception here. Cannot say anything bad about Hotel Kilkenny. They made the whole experience so less stressful and relaxed. 5 stars
This was a very nice hotel stay. The room was large and well appointed. Checkin and check out was easy. The staff was friendly and quick to help answer questions. There was a good breakfast included in our stay. It seemed the breakfast staff was confused on service.
1st time visiting Hotel Kilkenny, would recommend but I hope you don't meet with "Kevin" never ever have I met someone with with such a lack of common courtesy and manners. We entered threw an area which looked like the arrivals for weddings area, met a young lad behind a little counter, asked were they serving food, he replied "think so" , asked him where do we go he replied where ever u like", so I said can we sit in there he said ya i asked do we wait to be seated or just take a seat he said "sit where u like some one will come to ye eventually." Showed no interest whats so ever !!!! Went into bar took a seat, we were quickly handed menus and our order taking food was lovely and service was brilliant well done Liam very pleasant young man and very mannerly and professional.…
Very good hotel. Lovely big rooms with all the usual items. Large carpark which is great. The only issue I have with hotel kilkenny is the bar. Lovely food all let down be slow service. Staff too busy chatting to each other to bother serving the customers.
We stayed in this hotel for two nights, the rooms are lovely and spacious we had a delux room with a balcony, lovely clean hotel with friendly staff, breakfast was good even though the waitress cleared our plates before we barely put our forks down, we ate in the restaurant one night and the food was tasty I had the duck and my husband had the chicken, will definitely stay here again
Spent two nights here with extended family in Feb. Hotel very nice and in good location- short walk to the city. Food in the bar both nights was lovely. Great live music on both evenings too. Family rooms were spacious too. Would recommend it.
Hotel excellent. spotlessly cleaned and tastefully furnished. The rooms were spacious and very well furnished. Towels were replaced daily, but the best part of this hotel was the staff, especially the young crew manning the bar and restaurant. They were very attentive and made sure you had everything you could want. Tables were cleared instantly they were vacated and cleaned thoroughly. They worked well as a well oiled machine serving excellent food in a very cheery manner. Thoroughly enjoyable.
average enoughHotel in a decent location with good parking, however found some staff quite ignorant especially in the restaurant even tho I counted 4 floor staff and two barstaff all standing in a line chatting along the bar while numerous tables was waiting to order food and drinks, there also seemed to be a problem with the heating in our room as it was boiling hot from the second we went in, phoned down to reception on our first night only to be told the heating goes off at 10pm ended up having to open the balcony door slightly both nights to let air in to help us sleep, one other thing was that there seemed to be a serious smell of dampness on the floor we stayed on. Kilkenny however was a great town but wouldn't be rushing back to this hotel again!
