There is nothing special about this hotel. The rooms are very basic and with average cleanliness. We had to ask for washcloths. There is no air conditioning but the room includes a small fan. One small window opened for some fresh air. We dropped our bags by the hotel and checked in before rooms were ready. The front desk promised to place our bags in the rooms once ready. When we arrived back at the hotel the bags were exactly where we left them next to the front desk. Underwhelming service. Breakfast is another experience. The breakfast room is supervised by a woman who possesses no customer service skills. She was rude and mean towards customers and staff. She came to our table in response to my request for some assistance with food allergies and demanded to know what I could eat. I referred her to the card I had given to the server—now being held by the supervisor — with a list of what I am unable to eat. Several times I had to respond that I could eat anything except what is listed on the card. This woman simply could not listen me and she walked away from the table without a solution. Ten minutes later the restaurant manager arrived and he stepped over to our table to suggest what they could prepare for me….and that worked fine. But we witnessed this woman’s behavior towards others and wonder why she gets away with such behavior. Overall this is a tour bus oriented hotel. It’s all about averages and can work fine as long as you don’t expect more.

We had a lovely time overall. Great location & parking was a breeze. The Hotel room we got had been renovated to a pretty ok standard. You could however see where some cost cutting measures were taken and things like painting over paper is a little off putting. Lovely nonetheless. Beds were great & lovely bathroom amenities. The Hotel was quiet enough when we visited & bar close time was much earlier than the restrictions at the time. Would stay again

My partner and I visited the spa on August 3rd. Immediately upon our arrival we were made feel very welcome. Sarah and Jessie were our massage therapists who went above and beyond for both of us. Will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing time.

On arrival , I pulled up outside the hotel as we had so much luggage to bring in, I asked my sister to go in and ask if they could help us. My sister went in and there was no guests at reception and she asked staff for help. They gave her a trolley and she told them that she would be unable to manage it herself as we had 2 dresses, 2 suitcases, 3 boxes and multiple bags and that I couldn't help as 6 months pregnant but no assistance was offered. My sister wheeled the trolley out and we got everything onto the trolley and wheeled it in and by that stage there was a stag group at reception who came and assisted us. As we were paying over €220 for the night, I complained and asked to speak the manager to express my frustration that there was nobody to help. A manager came out but it was not the GM who I had specificalky requested to speak to. After telling him the problem he helped us to our room and even he let a suitcase fall off the trolley along the way as was a struggle with everything on it. The room was a lovely room, it was v clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was a bit difficult to get working, the flow was weak. I went out of the hotel before dinner and I was majorly annoyed to see hotel staff were able to assist an older couple being assisted with all their bags and a trolley, yet we had to ask and complain in total 3 times as I have already explained above before getting assistance, seemed ageist to me. All the staff in the restaurant were v friendly and helpful and we had a good dinner. There was no rush on us and the food was tasty. At breakfast the next morning we were in early and there was no other guests there. We asked for a table of 5 as my sister and family also stayed in hotel the night before and we were told no its only tables of 2 or 4! I mean not one other guest there so anyway we took the table of 4 and just pulled in extra chair and got settings off another table ourselves. The hotel gave us a late checkout and we were grateful for that, thank you.

Dear Felixamber, Thank you for the review on TripAdvisor. Whilst, I'm glad that you enjoyed many aspects of your stay with us, I was very sorry to learn of your first impression and may I take this opportunity to apologise sincerely for any misunderstanding on our part. Just to clarify, on check in your sister asked if there was a trolley and the receptionist asked her if she required assistance, which she declined. He was not aware of how much luggage you had or that you were pregnant, as you were not there. If he had, then he would have called someone to assist you immediately. The receptionist did not see you re enter the Hotel with your luggage but when you asked to speak with the General Manager, he called the Deputy General Manager, who spoke with you and assisted you to your room. Had I been on duty that day I would have spoken to you and assisted you myself. I hope to get the opportunity to welcome you back to Kilkenny in the future, so that we can ensure you are shown every courtesy. Yours in Service, Colin Ahern General Manager

Very nice and clean hotel that is in an excellent location. Can walk to stores, castle, other attractions, and pubs in a very short time. Lots of local trails close by as well. Nice pool and spa right across the road from the hotel, but it can be accessed from inside.

After a lovely evening walking around Kilkenny we returned to the hotel. The room wasn't bad but the bathroom was very dated, there was a chip out of the bath and a stain in the toilet!🤢 The next morning we went down for breakfast, it was quite busy . My granddaughter got turned off her breakfast when we spotted mould on the bread. I was served a fried egg that was overcooked and turning black in the centre. We weren't offered tea or coffee until we were finished breakfast. Overall the breakfast experience left us feeling underwhelmed. On the plus side we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist on check in. The leisure centre was top notch! My granddaughters had the time of their lives!😄

Stayed here for a weekend with my family. Had the most wonderful stay, the leisure centre is fab with amazing facilities, kids had a ball in the pool. I had a facial and massage in the spa, and it was just fabulous, I didn't want to leave, the treatment itself was pure heaven!! From the moment I stepped into the spa, I was treated like royalty, the lady on reception is absolutely lovely too! After the treatment I was handed a tray with 3 miniature bowls which contained sorbet, a little chocolate, and a Macaroon!! Our room was fab, SO spacious (room 307), there was a queen size bed (so comfy), a single bed, bunk beds and a sofa bed, and the bathroom was fab too. We absolutely loved the breakfast, AND there's an automatic pancake making machine, which was a real treat for the kiddies. I must also say a special thanks to the staff in the breakfast room, each and every one of them were so friendly and so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We also ate food in the restaurant each night and I would like to say a specific thank you to Rihanna and Regina, who really made our experience so much better, lovely girls who smiled all night despite being rushed off their feet with hen and stag parties in very un-Irish humidity!! I also read about the carpark charge but we didn't have to pay anything, our ticket was validated by reception. Thanks for a lovely few days and we hope to be back as soon as possible.

I stayed here for 1 night and I was meeting family in Kilkenny. I did stay solo for which I paid a crazy price.. Taking that into consideration I emailed the hotel if I could please check- in early, and I got a reply that maybe but I could leave my bags at reception. I arrived early and no room was available but they would ring me as soon as it became available . I had booked a SPA treatment and I enjoyed that The entrance into the SPA is dull, could do with an upgrade. I re checked with reception and was told quite firmly ‘ we will ring you ‘. No call came and I didn’t get my room until after 4pm The room was clean but very dated. I ordered a small breakfast on room service for which there is a 6e charge and for that no marmalade/jam for toast !!! A bath robe would be a lovely extra. On checking out the reception staff were not very friendly, no questions asked about my stay. Customer care should be standard practice for all hotel staff and I really felt this was very lacking here. The one positive is the LOCATION I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Kilkenny but I wouldn’t stay here again, sorry

Great location, but ( I thought) expensive. Still, I suppose it is supply and demand. Ordinary hotel room, nothing particularly special. Plus, they charge extra for parking .... which oddly, is free (for two hours) if you eat there, or swim ..... but you have to pay (€5) if you pay lots of €€€ to stay overnight. I only stayed there, as everywhere else was booked ..... yep .... 'supply and demand'.

Dear Almostgreynomad, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at our Hotel on TripAdvisor. I disappointed to read that you only had an ordinary stay with us and I apologise for any of our short comings that may have taken from your overall experience. Just to clarify, our great city centre location means that we don't have our own car parking facilities, but have negotiated a very favourable rate of €6 per 24 hours in the secure Multi-Story Car Park directly opposite us. Yours in Service, Colin Ahern General Manager e: colin@kilkennyormonde.com
