I really enjoyed staying at lanigans the hostel was not as bad as I was expecting at all. The area was pretty good and a lot of stuff to see and do. The pubs are nice and nightlife is fun. The pub is right near the hostel like 6 feet away and the food is good. They also have traditional Irish music some nights

Lanigans Hostel was super accommodating and friendly! Not only were the rooms great but their pub's food and drinks were also very good. I reccommmend the pasta carbonara! The rooms were clean, the people were nice and it was in the perfect area to explore what Kilkenny has to offer! What more could you ask for?!

Lanigan’s was super welcoming and accommodating. Was super local to the fun spots in Kilkenny and always had things going on! Great food at their pub and a really fun hurling experience. Staff was always happy to help. Would recommend.

Lanigans has accomplished the minimalistic all inclusive trip that I have never come across before. The staff is so amazing and friendly. The food is pretty good. The rooms are simple and clean. This place is a great option for a short stay and in a good area. We also had a hurling lesson and it was SOO much fun but we were definitely sore for 2 days lol, great workout.

After a long year and a long drive with friends coming from all corners of the world, we were all excited to have night out in Kilkenny. Lanigans looked like a great place, with an absolutely great location in the heart of Kilkenny. 14 of us checked into our accommodation on 31st December. We paid upfront including our deposit. The person who checked us in, was lovely, friendly, everything you’d expect. Couldn’t fault him, you could tell he’d worked in the hospitality industry. Surprisingly our door to our room had a broken lock and therefore we were unable to lock our room or even CLOSE our door. Once we explained this to the staff, we were told a man would be up to room at 7pm to fix it. Although you needed swipe to enter the building itself, there was groups in other rooms and we would have of felt safer knowing we could lock our room. Nobody fixed the door at 7pm. The customer service was really let down, with not as much as a sorry. One of the girls in the room had money missing from her wallet that had been left in her room, and when confronting the staff was made feel like she was in the wrong, not reimbursed or given any sort of apology. Quiet rude and raised his voice. The accommodation was clean, confortable and you got what you paid for. The room was great (lock on one bathroom door broken also). However, the poor customer service is where this “what could’ve been a lovely accommodation” fell drastically short. Its surprising to experience this kind of customer service in what is labelled a historic, great town for tourists to visit. The customers are the number one for a business like this - it takes very little to change this around for Lanigans, a course is customer service may be what this place needs. Overall we had a great night out, however considering we paid €700 for a room that’s door was open the whole night, we expected better service, and better customer service. We didn’t expect the member of staff to be so defensive. I explained to him a simple sorry is what we’d of liked, considering. So we left and found a lovely place to eat up the road, with excellent customer service.

Hi Orlasoreg, Delighted you had a great night in Kilkenny. We were unaware that the lock was broken until it was reported. Unfortunately as it was New Years Eve we were unsuccessful in locating a locksmith to fix the lock. However you neglected to say in your review that once we realized the lock was broken that security was located outside your door until your group checked out to make sure no one else entered the room. Wishing you all a happy New Year .
